Had a discussion with a buddy last night on how it's unfortunate that another studio album was not done with the last lineup (which seems to be a common thought), and got to talking about all these releases that are reportedly coming out. If most of the shows are recorded for Instant Live (like the Fox Box) and can be re-done, what if the songs of the last couple years that were not on an album but had a real good cut live were put on some sort of release, originals and regular covers??! I'm sure easier said than done, but it would be great for future generations to have these tunes available with more ease

Egypt
Spots of Time
Bag End
Dusk Til Dawn
.44 Blues
True Gravity (a modern version from the last run)
Who's Been Talking
Why Does Love Got to Be So Sad>Franklin's Tower
I Found A Love
Blind Willie McTell
Feel Like Breakin Up Somebody's Home
1983
Preachin Blues

Just a thought on this rainy Tennessee day. Sure I missed some Smile

I like the idea, as ABB fans we were so excited at one time about another possible album coming out after hittin the note, was hoping it was gonna be the year 2005 when they started playing Egypt and the band was on fire that year, but it never happened. I am sure there is unreleased material that will probably never see the day of light. I would add the song Delta Blue, and they finally played Just another rider once.

Great idea. It would require some motivated force behind it. Im not sure who that would be.

I recall someone - Butch maybe? - talking about how the Instant Live discs ARE the new Allman Bros release. However, no matter how much improv might happen in the course of the band playing an oldies-heavy setlist, the result is still an Instant Live disc heavy on older songs, ones that fans already have (several?) Live versions of.

The key would be that someone in the ABB organization would have to recognize that a collection of songs like the ones above could stand as a fresh statement of who the final ABB line-up was. They would have to have the risk-taking sensibility to believe that a live album need not have the classic old hits on it.

It really might be a tough project to push if the consideration is the marketplace. Would it sell many copies? But it would be a wonderful artistic statement.

What about an album that was every single blues cover that the final line-up ever did?

A blues album would be GREAT. But those moments of brand new invention from this line-up need to be spotlighted at some point too. They should not be forgotten.

Warren did a nice job with Spots of Time on his solo release. It was REALLY good at Wanee 2016.

Both the ILs and Moogis were awesome ideas that kept their music right out there & us fans in the loop -- the 8/21/2004 IL is just about my favorite & has those cool moments of brand new invention that JimS mentioned

I would love to hear a compilation of this with nothing but live songs.
