Just received a 72 ABB show Syracuse. I have no doubt this is widely traded or downloadable. What found is like a genealogical tree type thing I guess. Getting closer to the trunk, maybe (?). Way back when, before people downloaded shows, or before that traded CD's, or before that traded cassettes was another medium. Artists and hi junkies and sound people all had reel to reels. Stuff floated around among a few, pre internet. Demos and stuff out of the commercial loop got circulated. Dylan's basement tapes were the first to float like everywhere among the times who's who. So some of what is traded now digitally was reel to reel then to maybe cassette with many dubs in the middle. So the gene pool is muddied and digital, a path of no return.
So the find is these reels, a soundboard of SUNY show. Who got them and how is the mystery, but somebody plugged in to the board way back when. These sound great, bass and drums left side and Gregg and Dickey right. It is fun to isolate Berry on the left, he was on fire these 72 shows. I am sure these are a copy of a copy, but it is hoped they are early up in that genealogy tree, they sound like it.
According to the Live Show Database the show was recorded to be a radio broadcast at a later date.
These are the shows that the band should be hunting down for archieve releases.

Very cool -- great find -- gosh if stuff like this is out there...
as you say most fans have this show -- what if something like this turned up a rarity...maybee, labeled "ABB, 6/26/71 Fillmore".... 😮

I have a first gen. recording of the last Fillmore East show on open reel, made right from the FM show/broadcast.

I used to think this stuff wasn't out there. Evidently it is. The sound engineer and FM radio engineers had some interesting access to this stuff, as in copying pre FM broadcast. Clandestine cover of darkness stuff as to right to do it from the band. As for the band missing out, not sure how they find these people with tape. I think some are reclusive hi fi junkies getting older now. It is sad to think some source stuff may hit garage sales by unknowing widows, or estate sales. Fillmore tapes sold as "used tape" and put in a musty garage until the yard sale. Yikes.
