I'm a Stevie Nicks fan, but she has not had a rock n roll hall of fame solo career.

She put out a single hands-down classic album (her debut Bella Donna) that has stood the test of time. She has put out a mixed back of mostly not so great music after that. Had she never been in Fleetwood Mac, she'd never be considered for the Hall for her solo career.

I'm not a fan of pop-R&B stuff, but if that genre is getting inducted and considered Rock n Roll, Janet Jackson had quite a career that would be deserving.

My initial thought is that this seems like a very lightweight class.

My second thought is that either my knowledge of these artists or of who is already in the R & R Hall is pretty limited.

Radiohead seem like a pretty easy pick - both critically acclaimed and commercially successful for a very long time, certainly innovative. Having said that, if there is to be an all-star jam on "Johnny B Goode" at the end of the induction party, the members of this band should be prevented from joining in. 😉

The Zombies did some great stuff, but their catalogue is pretty tiny, I think. I always assumed that the James Gang would never get in because they had so few albums. Ditto Boston.

Def Leppard did sell a zillion copies, but boy, I think if we are looking at hard rock / metal, there are many bands more influential or innovative. Or just less cheesy lol.

I know The Cure was very big in alt rock in the 80s, so big in terms of influence, sales, and commercial regard that they merit inclusion. I'm just not a fan. They were actually big enough that I saw them headline at Giants Stadium, the triple bill of Love and Rockets, the Pixies, and The Cure. Hard to imagine now.

I simply don't know my Roxy Music nor my Janet Jackson.

I think hotlantatim captured my feelings about Stevie Nicks.

So, maybe it's a sign of my ignorance or age, but this would not be a show that I would be dying to see. I would watch it out of curiousity rather than love.

Last year Radiohead said they wouldn't go if inducted, I hope that applies this year as well. I don't want to see mopey Thom Yorke drag himself out there and give a woe is me speech. Full disclosure, I hate Radiohead. I just don't get them at all. Why so miserable?

I hate that MC5 was a finalist again this year, and didn't get in.

What is a Rock n Rall Hall of Fame if Iron Maiden isn't a member? Big sales & commercial success (radio ariplay in the 80s though not so much now in the US). High level musicianship. Massive touring success to this day worldwide. Mixed punk & prog with heavy metal which made them both unique and influential.

And I'd induct Little feat for certain as well as Marshall Tucker Band and Atlanta Rhythm Section, though I suspect only Little Feat stands a chance.

Always been surprised that Joe Cocker was never inducted. Yes, mostly an interpreter but what a unique vocalist/performer. One of the greatest white blues-influenced singers. Did ok in the record sales department too.

Definitely one of the top overlooked. I don't know the specific criteria, but there are plenty of interpreters who didn't write their own music - Tina Turner comes to mind even though she's in paired w/Ike.
