2001: A Space Odyssey helped write Dreams

Was skimming through Alan's book last night and came across where it mentions that Dreams was heavily influenced from a "2001: A Space Odyssey" theme jam that had happened. So, this morning at work I listened to both (Dreams and the ASO theme) and WOW. Duane's signature Root/5th/octave lick throughout the verse is nearly verbatim to the 2001:ASO theme motif. I will never be able to hear that theme again without having Duane in mind. Check it out if you haven't heard it.
Prettttttty cool stuff.......
First note (Root) at :23
2nd note (Fifth) at :25
3rd note (Root Octave) at :28
Instead of going to that higher note at :33 in the video, Duane would go back to the 2nd note (fifth), creating this pattern - Root/5th/Root Octave/5th
Duane plays D / A / High D / A x4 for each verse of dreams

Interesting. It was years before I realized that Mountain Jam tied to the Donovan song, and I will need to give this influence a listen now too.

If only they had collaborated with Elvis!
