20 minutes to TTB!

My first time back to the Beacon since the ABB, I think. Sigh. Happy Saturday, all!

Don’t ya do it
Do I look worried
Within / Just as Strange
Shelter me
Hard Case
Shame
midnight
Some ripping swinging Mike Mattison number! Ray Charles?
I believe that was the full first set. Ripping epic “Shame.”

Nice to see D & S trade licks on Don’t Ya Do It. After that, Derek too all the guit solos. Nice keyboard solo on Hard Case. A very tasty Midnight in Harlem solo, with some nice different moves. Sweet sax intro on that, and each horn player got a solo on the last tune.

Whipping Post !!
Dreams!!!
What a concert!!!

Just got home, so 2nd set memories may have flaws. Second set opened fat with “Tell the Truth.” Derek was driving the train - it was a big Derek night.
Other songs I recall: the Band / r’n’b song “Lovin You Is Sweeter Than Ever” with Joss Stone.
A ripping “Statesboro” with the false ending - someone was on washboard for this.
Dreams - epic
A lovely “Don’t Think Twice” with Susan on acoustic and Derek offstage.
The Storm / Whippin Post - I think the teases of Afro Blue and Les Bree’s came in here - epic
Part of You
How Blue Can You Get?
Made Up Mind
Encore: With A Little Help From

Sounds like an amazing show.... and I love Joss Stone!

Nice, Sounds like sweet peach, Cody on washboard? I've only seen two players use them, Cody and the Gent from Buckwheat Zydeco.

it was indeed Gent.
it was a great show. a great crowd. and also the first Beacon show for my 11 year old girl, who danced, sang and clapped along to susan. hit the amsterdam ale house. got inside early so she could appreciate the beauty that is the beacon. overall, a magical night.

I forgot to mention the aptly named "Joyful Noise"!!!!
Sully, by the time we got to the area - maybe 6:15 - the Amsterdam Alehouse was packed. We went to Dive 75 and enjoyed a bit of the Yankees before hitting that killer diner, the Viand, next to the Beacon for some incredibly fast dinner.
Derek and Susan really let it loose; the sense that this was the last night of a run was certainly in the air.
When I got home, I was so fired up that I watched Youtube for an hour or so, mostly finding footage from the first 2 nights. Does anyone know if the Pay Per View via Nugs is something that can be owned permanently, or is that just a temporary rental? I would LOVE to get my hands on the 10/5 show.

glad you enjoyed saturday night show. I went on Friday evening and it was the worst TTB show i have ever attended. The setlist was awful. The 5 or 6 number acoustic set after intermission was boring. Listening to Mike Madison sing as much as he was featured was too much.
Derek was featured very little which is basically who I come to see. The show was shockingly very dull. I was really psyched for the show but very disappointed unfortunately. Bound for Glory was super but not much else IMO
The other setlist have been awesome, particularly the Saturday show. Hope everyone who attended other shows enjoyed them more than i did.

With A Little Help From My Friends

I wish I knew you were going Jim. Would have been nice to say hello to fellow Beacon veteran. My wife asked me if I knew or recognized anyone in the seats and sadly I did not.
Joyful Noise made me so happy. The drummers brought their gospel chops to this one.
I fell in love with Joss Stone. Man, did she sway and sing beautifully. I wish they kept her out for another tune.
The set list diversity was really cool. Great covers. Great originals. Nods to the Brothers. Nods to Derek's original work. Nods to Susan's original work. Not sure what else you could ask for.
Next year I'll start a roll call threat. Hopefully we can meet up pre-show.

Dang, looking at the set list it actually sounds like a pretty sweet, unique show - "I Am Yours", "Keep Your Lamp", "More and More", "It Hurts Me Too", "Done Somebody Wrong", "Darling Be Home Soon" are all TTB specials. Different strokes, I guess. I witnessed a similar acoustic set by TTB at the Beacon a few years ago and it was a total treat.
TTB has tried to mix it up at the Beacon and make each night special for those going to multiple shows, so throw your expectations out the window. Tough if you're expecting more of a traditional set list, but you can't please everyone.

I think you mean Ricky Gordon aka Dirty Red

I’ve listened to most of this run on the archive. It seems like it was pretty special and Derek was on fire, especially the last 3 nights
Based on prior comments on this forum, I never thought that I would read a complaint about Mike singing too much
