Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

Sign me up!
Saw them this Summer and they were great!

Always good but my complaint is the same setlists every show. Even those two releases are very close and that is with them mixing in a bit just to make it different.
Morse is a monster player who I catch everytime that I can with whatever act he is playing with. But with Purple he has been doing the same guitar solo since he joined pretty much. I just don't get that.

Saw them in Nashville a month ago. Great show.

I hadn't seen them since 1973.
I was a happy camper.
Not every band can have the Warren Haynes approach to a set list.
😉

But they don't have to have a Dickey style one either. 😉 All I ask is that they throw me the occasional bone.
But I just don't get a guitar genius like Morse playing Contact Lost for 20 years now night after night.

Contact Lost isn't that old, but I get the point.
Maybe Morse just wants to pay tribute to the Columbia astronauts each show?

Lose track of time as I age. I'm all for the tribute but do another instrumental solo or improve too. When I see him solo or with the Dregs, the whole night is that and amazing so let him loose. 😉 Too good not to.

Steve even does it with the Les Paul Trio.

Yeah, thats the 2nd thing I thought when I saw they were putting out a new live release. Excitement at first and then, same setlists. I think they have gotten a little better as far as mixing in deep stuff. DP has been pretty prolific over the Steve Mose era putting out live material.
I can get on my soapbox about this a little. I think at this point in they're career I doubt they are winning over new fans for the most part. Maybe a few hear and there , but its probably the die hards that attend most of the shows, Why not dig deeper, that would thrill many if they brought out Rat Bat Blue, Mary Long,Pictures of Home, more from the Morse tenure, play the whole Perfect Strangers release. I dont know.....
UFO is another band that I think should do it.
To bad we will never hear songs like Burn,Mistreated,You Fool know one. This incarnation will never do it, and I understand why, Hughes I think does them and so does Whitesnake.
I was listening to Eddie Trunks podcast with Robin Zander and they were talking about the time Trunk did the setlist for Cheap Trick. Pretty cool!!
Cheap Trick -- Bethlehem, PA -- November 24th, 2012

Good stuff!
They took some blues, and some country...and they made Rock & Roll. 😛
