"On April 22, 2026, that direction produced its first concrete result: Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche issued a final order placing certain categories of cannabis into Schedule III. But this isn't a blanket reclassification. The order covers FDA-approved cannabis products and state-licensed medical cannabis only; recreational cannabis remains in Schedule I, along with bulk and anything outside the licensed medical lane.

For broader rescheduling, the traditional regulatory process is still in motion: the DEA will hold a new administrative hearing beginning June 29, 2026. Until then, the industry operates in a split reality, where dispensaries holding both medical and adult-use licenses are sitting in a complicated middle ground."

David Allen Coe RIP

Saw on the news last night David Allen Coe passed away at age 86.

David grew up in reform school, spent five years in prison for burglary, was a member of the Outlaws motorcycle gang and released a couple of X-rated racist albums Coe later came to regret.

He hired Warren Haynes out of Ashville, NC to play lead and slide in his band and it was Warren's first band to be known beyond regional recognition.

Warren eventually left and recently answered that is was too weird as the reason he left and began living in Nashville trying his hand at session work both as a guitarist and vocalist.

Coe's favorite guitar player was Duane.

I'm not that into David Allen Coe since I found one of his racist albums on YouTube.

If anyone tries to tell you that Susan Tedeschi can't play the blues, I would suggest sending this 7:19 video their way. Wowie is all I can say. Just Won't Burn is the title cut of Susan's second solo effort (1998).

Excuse me, I wasn't even planning on recording at that moment, just enjoying the show, when they broke into one of my favorite songs of all-time and I had to scramble to get my camera. I only missed the first 20 seconds at the most. I think a lot of people, including myself, take for granted what a tremendous vocalist Susan Tedeschi really is. And as for the guitar solo.......Derek never overplays, but channels the lovely emotion of the original.

Saw Duane Betts and Palmetto Motel last night at the State Theater in State College, PA. It was a great show, if sadly a bit poorly attended. I enjoyed the new songs he played from his album I think he said is coming out on June 12th and the band itself was plenty good. During the song Oh Louisiana, which I think Pedro mentioned was a Chuck Berry song, Johnny Stachela played slide guitar with a wah wah pedal and it was the funkiest sound. A very cool show last night; I was glad I was able to catch it. And hey - I saw Back Where It All Begins for the first time live since 1999, so there's that.
