Saw Nils with his own band at Wembley Stadium back in the early eighties ... great days music but a weird mix of bands ... Nils opened, followed by AC/DC, then The Stranglers and finally The Who ...

@harvey

Yeah that's an odd one for sure. I wonder what kind of music he was playing then because I think that was quite a bit after his band "Grin".

I'm sure we've all seen/heard some odd pairings. Blackfoot opening for Deep Purple seemed odd to me. And Eric Johnson sandwiched between Buddy Guy and B.B. King was really a strange one.

@Lee

His solo album "Nils" had just been released so it was a mix of that and older solo stuff

Slightly earlier than I thought ... 1979, not early eighties

Oddest concert pairing I saw was Hamilton, Joe Frank & Reynolds opening for Steppenwolf. Both groups were on the same label. H, JF & R was syrupy Top 40 pop while Steppenwolf was, well, Steppenwolf.

@oldcoot - Atlanta Rhythm Section and Kraftwerk.  Worth it to see a bunch of stoned/drunk hippies with gaping mouths wondering, "what the fock is this chit?"! 😉

Rusty, that's a crazy one too! Neither of ours are Jimi opening for The Monkees but nuts just the same!

Another downpour yesterday some street flooding but nowhere near me thankfully. Mid 70's today starting to warmup next week. Thinking about an Allison Krauss w/Robert Plant concert next week.

robertdee was at one of those 4 Jimi/Monkees shows🎶🎸how cool is that

was there for J Geils & the Mahavishnu Orchestra, summer 1973, Foxboro

howabout another eclectic bill involving an orchestra, Woody Herman’s - sharing the bill w/Led Zep & Delaney & Bonnie, May 29-31 1969, Fillmore East - that would’ve drawn a hugely diverse/eclectic audience

🍄🎼the other ones mentioned

Music can’t be topped when various languages/listeners are under one roof

a lovely summer morn w/Pure Prairie League on the music box

✌️good morning, carry on topic….☀️

Yes, but I doubt either band was as good as the original ABB. 😆

Good soggy morning. "Shockingly" it rained not once but twice again yesterday. Starting to think that under cover of dark, Harvey may have relocated London to here!

Yes, I need to cut the frickin' grass again today - we had an inch of rain Saturday - most of it when I was driving to and back from Central Illinois ...

We've certainly had more than our fair share of rain here this past month ... I would gladly relocate it if I could ...

Have you BEEN to Nebraska? Me neither. Wink

Just saw on the news this morning that a woman was taken to a Lincoln, NE morgue. And she was alive. Oops! Shock

Snag - You hitting BluesFest this weekend? At the moment I have Friday afternoon off and I might go. Ivy Ford is playing at 2:00. She;s awesome! Saw her play on a bill with Lil' Ed last year. And Saturday she's playing for free at Navy Pier in the beer garden at 2:00 PM. Carin is going. I'll send a text to the Chicago gang about this weekend.

Oh and Buddy Guy closes Sunday night if you want to deal with the crowd for a free show. It'll be big.

Probably won't hit Bluesfest - Friday is my granddaughter's first birthday, Saturday I am seeing a free show in Tinley Park, and Sunday is the party for my granddaughter - my family is coming up from Central Illinois for it.  Luckily I have seen Buddy many times ...

The morgue attendant said he had breathed life back into her ... not sure where he was blowing though ... Smile

I went to a little of The Chicago Bluesfest yesterday afternoon to see my new favorite female singer, Ivy Ford. THB and I are going to see her this afternoon at Navy Pier too. I saw her on a bill last year with Lil' Ed. Tomorrow night is Buddy Guy. Pondering that one.

Please transfer them to VHS tapes. Smile

Saw some good blues yesterday with Ivy Ford. They are a standard 3-piece band, nothing jaw-dropping, her on guitar. I knew every song they did since they were all covers. She did sing a Little Milton song which got the crowd going. I was really surprised when she covered Larry McCray.

When I got there I noticed a tall, skinny white guy on bass. He looked just like Lil' Ed's other guitar player but it wasn't him.

Sure wish I had some Lil' Ed to listen to. Wink

Had a great weekend celebrating my granddaughter's first birthday (boy does time fly).   Playing golf 3 days this week - be nice if I could play one round without 30 mph winds ....

Saw a fun band for free locally Saturday - called Radio Gaga.  They play Queen and Lady Gaga - really entertaining.  Saw them once last year, probably see them again in July.
