Afternoon gents! coot, you have been tagged with the annual meat on a-stick contract.

Heh, I had forgotten all about that. Do you recall what it was?

You mean the meat? I think they had a choice of different ones. Pretty sure Matt may have been the only one that had it. It was 2004 at Red Rocks, New Earth Mud opening for the ABB.

@oldcoot

I remember the "Meat On A Stick" thing and us laughing so much about it. I was thinking I got something too. Wasn't that also the "Hippie Tossing" year? String Cheese is the sheet?

Not sure, Origapch was with us for the food "delicacy" one night and it was just the two of us and Chad for the "tossing." Could have been the same year as there were two nights and the ABB headlined one night and the "Sheet" was the second night when we bailed after the Brothers. I don't recall Matt being there both nights.

Yeah I don't recall for certain but now that I think of it, Matt wasn't with us when we left the second night after the ABB. That was the night that stoned guy told us String Cheese was the sheet.

Speaking of Matt, any idea what happened to him? For about a year we communicated all the time. He even took me and BIGDAVE to Macon and tried to show us around. It was during the Fox Theater run in 2004.

I am still in contact with him on Facebook ... he is still happily cruising around in Florida ...

I gave up smoking cigarettes and cigars in 1998 and my last toke was at the Beacon in 2007 ... one of Slammers specials that nearly blew my head off and I realised then that it was time to stop those too ... now I just have to stand up too quickly to achieve the same effect Smile

Gooooooooooooooooood 'ol Chicago Irish Debauchery Weekend! This is when the Chicago River is dyed green. My local establishment is opening at 8:00 AM this morning and we are five miles or so away from all of this. The 22-year-olds get hammered early, head downtown, and continue the party. And let's not forget the parade after that! Eat

I prefer my March Madness either at The Beacon or on my couch watching college hoops. Can't do the former so I will do the latter! Wink

Should be some entertaining games today and tomorrow too, lots of upsets yesterday. Huskers very capable of beating Illinois today. It was a horrible season for Michigan, were you still surprised they gave Howard the heave ho?

@lee

I walked the dogs through my local downtown this morning, bars were all huddled in their team meetings and the old farts were already setting their chairs up for a view of the parade. I never understood parades, it's just really slow traffic.

I'll be hanging in my backyard. I'm sure I'll hear the amateurs through out the evening. Floridians just can't hang like they do in the midwest. A few years ago the wife and I made the mistake of going out for lunch on Paddy Parade Saturday and had to help a few people call ubers before it even hit 1pm.

That second half for Nebraska was brutal. And Shannon dropping 40 on them for Illinois? They still had a great season. I have no idea where the "experts" are predicting them in the NCAAs but I would say a 10?

As for Howard and to your question, my answer is "no". Not at all. For such a seemingly mild-mannered buy from The Fab Five, he seems to have changed his personality. Getting suspended, going after people, missing time, etc. A good friend of mine and I both predicted this would happen in October before the season started. I like their assistant but I think this is kind of a semi-retirement for him in coaching.

I think Chicago takes it to another level. I didn't even mention the Southside Chicago Parade, which is today. A handful of years ago they canceled it for two or three years because it got so out of hand. And always on a Sunday too!

The "bracketology" suggestions I've seen have us anywhere from a 7 to a 9, an 8 or 9 seems about right. Shannon is good, maybe not as good as we made him yesterday, but he is a projected lottery pick so there's definitely talent there. I follow Creighton too, they look like a #3 seed.

The important thing is Morehead State is playing in Nebraska this week. Your favorite team!
