Goooooooooooooooooooooooood 'ol National Relaxation Day! Perfect for this place.

Unfortunately, we are awaiting a replacement dishwasher to I have to wash the dishes by hand for a few more days. I wouldn't mind but I rather enjoy being a lazy ass.  

Golf was rained out - course had 2-1/2 inches last night and was cart path only - and it is a long and tough course ... drove all the way there to turn around and go home.  We had 2 inches of rain here yesterday, plus it rained some this morning ...

Gooooooooooooooooooooooood 'ol Aviation Day!

This is perfect because Friday starts the Air & Water Show here. Friday we are having a few people over on our roof and Sunday my buddy is hosting a BBQ on his roof. We live right next to each other and the buildings are the same height so the view of the lake will be the same. I used to hate this every year and now I love it.  

Another rain out this morning ... at least we did it early and didn't have to drive an hour to the course and then just turn around ...

Got to babysit the granddaughter yesterday - nothing better!

Enjoy it! We used to babysit our niece. Then she had the audacity to grow up! She's about 12 now and the last thing in the world she wants to see is us "old" people. Hopefully she will grow out of this phase of life!

Too bad y'all can't get to the shores of Lake Meeechigan this weekend, lots-o-fun.

Of course Sang will be playing goflball. Nice weekend for it, especially in the mornings.

And coot will be harvesting corn. Fresh corn is starting to arrive here which is SO good.

And coot will be harvesting corn. Fresh corn is starting to arrive here which is SO good.

 

No corn harvesting here. 90 something today and then six days in a row of 100 or higher.  

Heat index a couple of those days at 110 or above.

It's been a very pleasant 70 degrees here this week ... mixed sun and light cloud with a light breeze ... just right as I have had my elder son, his wife and my three grandsons here for the week on holiday ... most enjoyable

Went to central Illinois today to celebrate my dad's 95th birthday - and he got to meet his new great granddaughter ...

Gooooooooooooooooooooooooood 'ol National Aviation Day! Which is appropriate because the "official" start of the event is actually this morning. Had a grand time yesterday. About eight or 10 folks on our roof. I got WAY too much sun. I don't know why I don't bathe in suntan lotion before I am going to be out for too long. THB and I both got burned.

We are left with some stuff people brought that we will probably never drink. It's kind of fun in a way. We then have a variety when peoplle come over. My friend used to have an end of summer party specifically to get rid of all of the beer people had left at his house. 

I can say that at least two fifths (probably more)of vodka were consumed.

That's really neat! Obviously she will never remember him but it's nice that there are four generations. I remember my great grandma very well (I think people bred younger back then 😉). She was my mom's grandma. I recall when we would all get together great granny and MY grandma were together, I didn't know how to address them. If I said "grandma", they both thought it was one of them I was talking to. So I just stopped calling them anything.

Happy Sunday! Going to a buddy's rooftop for an Air Show BBQ later this morning.  They are grilling shrimp, chicken and pork loin. Sounds good! Don't think I've ever had pork loin. 

Hell I just want a burger on the grill! 

Contemplating digging out a sweater as it cooled off today. Only 103 as opposed to 104 yesterday.

Played golf early today - already cancelled Thursday and a free concert tomorrow night due to the heat ...

I assume the show is inside. THB asked me this morning if I thought the White Sux would cancel their game tonight due to the heat. Had to roll my eyes at that one. It was fine here this morning but of course it will heat up. It is hotter where you are than it is here. 

I thought about wearing a thong today but apparently that is frowned on.

No, the show is outside - which is why it would be way too hot ...

I sent a text to you, moid and Droogie. Friday, September first I am going to Buddy Guy's at around 5:00 for an accoustic dinner show with Carin. Harmonica Hinds is playing. It is table seating with a server. Good Cajun food if you've never had it there. Goes until 7:30. It is free. Nice way to kick off the holiday weekend. The tables seat four so we can get more than one if needed.

Let anyone you know join including Julie, Mary your brother and anyone else. Looking forward to it!
