I'm thinking the show you saw was in 2001. Pretty sure that was the year. I saw that in Detroit. I thought Oteil didn't really fit with Mule. If you ever saw Woody you probably know wott I mean. Oteil just isn't "hard" enough to my ears. Over the years they have had several guys fill in as we know, and quite admirably. I think Jorgen is probably the closest to the original Mule.
And Chuck is well, Chuck. A legend. And an underrated one at that.

It was October 2002. Yes I was lucky enough to see the original Mule lineup several times. As I mentioned it was absolutely amazing watching Chuck from that close. He also did the vocal on Compared To What? that night and maybe (?) another tune too.

Went to Mud Island Park the last day in Memphis. Left about 11:30, got home at 8:00 pm without stopping to eat (just for gas, and rest stops so my wife could get her 250 steps per hour). I can tell you that there is absolutely nothing between Memphis and Chicago on I-55 and I-57 - except some construction. I must have passed 1000 trucks - some multiple times due to stopping at rest stops. Quick trip, but fun. Wednesday night we ate at a restaurant on Mud Island that was on the top floor of 4-story hotel. The windows were open and it looked out over the muddy Mississippi - very pretty.

One of my favorite Skip re-masters is 5/4/96 Beale Street Music Festival, 35+ minute True Gravity. I think the show was at Mud Island (too lazy to lookup the database, this is after all The Lazy Thread).

Very likely a back patio with a cigar day. Alcohol could become involved too.

There is a music venue on Mud Island ...

This Tuesday in the far southeast part of the state it will be 83 and in the far northwest corner 22 with 12" of snow, everything in between those areas, all four seasons in one day. Thankfully it will be 74 here.

THB's birthday party and cake. This is kind of a long post.
She milks her birthday for all it is worth. It was a lot of work. I called this bakery that is really, really good. They don't have a website, they don't deliver and they don't take credit cards. And I would need to take two buses twice to make this work so I had to find a different bakery for the cake. Found one. I order said cake on a Tuesday I think. Need to pick it up Friday. But she is home Friday so I have to get it from the bakery store to the restaurant without bringing it home so she can't see it.Â
A few days prior she mentions that she hopes they decorate the room we reserved. Well, no they aren't. So I have to go find decorations and take them to the place without her knowing. Have to make separate trips because there was no way I could carry the balloons and the cake together. And the cake weighed a ton.Â
Get to the restaurant that evening and they already put the cake out which they were not supposed to do and she got there before me so I couldn't hide it. Or light it. Someone cuts into the cake and the bakery effed up the cake which I didn't know until the cake was cut and by the time it was cut I didn't know wott they had done. And before I went to get said cake the baker called me and asked about the icing and I told her wott to do which was on the order form. Still messed it up.
There was still cake available so I took it into the bar and gave away pieces to people there. Still some left at the end. I told the manager to keep it.Â
The party room was reserved for 3 hours and it was still going at 4.5 hours at which point I left. For people that got the open bar option that was only for 3 hours so I don't know wott happened after that point. People brought her gifts which they were told not to and I had to carry some home. I asked the manager wott to do they said they would store them. It mostly ended being booze which we have no room for.
Then some of her friends helped to clean up the bar and bring everything back which was nice but I was already in bed.Â
The next day she was not pleased that I was going out for a few hours with a buddy. I spent a lot of money on this. Finally she says she was very grateful of the place to go through wott they did and decorate it. Really???
Wimmens... Â

Actually pulled out my copy of this show to give it a listen and yes Lee the year was actually 2001, October 22. For some reason I was thinking 2002.

I was pretty sure it was 2001 because of where I lived and where the the show was. In a renovated church in downtown Detroit. Really cool place. And I think that was the only year Chuck toured with them.
