Posted by: @oldcootLee, I think you somewhat follow Purdue sports, watched the Huskers/Purdue roundball on Saturday, Huskers darn near whipped 'em. He's a really formidable player, but I swear if they ever make another Addams Family movie, Zach Edey is the perfect Lurch and he wouldn't need any appearance changes.

Sorry coot I forgot to reply. I don't really care about Purdue but my in laws live right across campus so THB has to be a fan just because I guess, so I hear everything about them. Yeah that guy does look like a goon. They have a really good team this year.

That's confusing. Is that like the metric system? Schools tried to teach us that when I was a kid. It never took here.
Just like when the weather person gives us two forecasts. The real one and something called the European Model, which is always worse.
Europeans...

We used to use the archaic systems that you still use up until 1972, then we changed to metric. I found it confusing at first having been educated at school with the old Imperial system, but once over the shock of change it is actually much simpler and easier.
In this case Zero degrees Centigrade = Freezing Point and 100 degrees Centigrade = Boiling Point (as opposed to 32 degrees and 212 degrees Fahrenheit).
The USA must be the only nation in the entire world that still uses the old system ... which is weird given that it was invented by the UK ... you would have thought that we would be the last to give it up.
I have to admit that I still refer to timber as 4" x 2" and not 100mm x 50mm
And I still drink Pints not Half Litres!

Oh, I hope that you didn't fall off the ball wash or something???

I think he may have gotten a club in "places". I doubt a sand trap was involved.

I was told that there would be no math.....
"Is that a real poncho or is that a Sears poncho?"

I will admit that through trigonometry I was somewhat engaged with learning math. When it got to calculus I sorta checked out. Couldn't care less that sine/divided by cosine = X2/over wott held zero interest to me. But in a way zero interest still involves math.
"Is that a real poncho or is that a Sears poncho?"

In a way it was sorta like "learning" French as a foreign language. Between junior and senior high and several (required) years in college I took six years of it. Was it just me or were they talking in a strange language? How have I used it since then 40+ years later? Zip. I could speak and read very basic stuff today, beyond that not so much.
Was it a complete waste of time? Oui!

And Colin, it's a 2 by 4, not 4 by two!!!!

I majored in math - and psychology. Screwed me up for life ... could never make a decision ...

Christmas party tonight with golf buddies, then off to Central Illinois tomorrow for Christmas with my family.

All done for the day. Time to watch football for the weekend. Snowing like crazy and it is actually sticking on the ground. I suspect an evening of sports watchin', soup eatin' and sittin' in front of our fake fireplace.

You are still sticking to the Pound and not the Euro, right? I didn't know that you are leaving the EU. I'll have to look into that one.

Massive arctic cold front headed a lot of people's way. Our "high" temp on Thursday, -7 after an overnight low of -15.
"Is that a real poncho or is that a Sears poncho?"

So I had a meeting scheduled downtown today at City Hall. I get to the office and introduce myself and tell the lady who I was there to see. She asks what department she is in. I told her and she said their office wasn't even there, it is in a different building. I get in touch with my contact and she said that was what the department that schedule appointment person told her where to tell me to go. There are many city buildings and a ton of departments so I didn't know where they were located.
She apologized and we are rescheduling.
As my gramma used to say, that really frosted my buttons!

Yeah this storm is really gonna screw up a lot of travel plans. People flying in and out of Chicago are in a lot of trouble. I hope they have a Plan B.
This is really potentially messing up mine. THB is supposed to go to central Indiana Saturday morning for the weekend on a bus. I told her there was no way in hell she is gonna get out of here.
Now this is where it affects me. I have a full weekend planned of laying on the couch watching football since the NFL games happen to fall on a holiday weekend. Now, I can still watch the games but I was looking forward to watching the games and cranking up tunes. Eating bad food, etc. Now I am praying to the weather Gods that they are wrong with the forecast.
Am I being self-centered?
