My pool had Florida over Duke as well. Unbeknownst to Carin, I hedged the bet for tomorrow night. I like Florida so I put something on them. Either way, we still win but I cut into our winnings.

Old stock market axiom which is probably applicable here, no one ever went broke taking a profit.

True, but it is betting. I suppose in a sense, so is investing in the market. Not my favorite topic these days.
However it plays out, it covers my Peter Frampton tix next week and Neil Young in the fall. That's how I look at it.
Now if I can figure out a way to pay for my Mule/Tedechi Trucks Tix.

I will be at Neil Young, and I think my tickets are close to Droogie's ...

Don't have tickets to Tedeschi Trucks/Mule yet, but I might try to go ...

You should go. I can't believe how cheap the tickets are. The Neil Young seats are 3x the Tedeschi/Trucks prices.
I hope they don't play Soulshine though.

Goooooooooooooood 'ol National Empanada Day! If you've never tried these tasty appetizers, you should.

Saw Smiley Tillmon Band at a local microbrew last night - fun as always. He is going to be 85 in June ...

Goooooooooooooooooooooooood 'ol National Peach Cobbler Day! There must be an ABB connection there.
I was going to go see Duke Tomatoe last night at a blues club, but I guess that isn't the same thing.

Duke is still playing? Used to go see him at Fitzgerald's when I first moved to the Chicago area - which was 1977.

Yep. He plays Kingston Mines frequently. A place I haven't been to in a few years. Larry McCray was the last act I saw there. Right before COVID.
Lil' Ed plays there all the time, but the bands start so late on weekends that I can't make it.

I find this day to be more taxing than most others....

Highly unlikely that Neil Young plays Soulshine.....

I thought Neil Young was playing in the Mermaid Theater these days

Years ago, Neil played Radio City Music Hall on a Wednesday. I went. The ABB played the next three nights at The Beacon, which I also attended. I sure was hoping for a sit-in. I thought maybe Neil could hit The Beacon the next night. Alas, it didn't occur...

Had to have been late '70's when I had a subscription but I remember a mention in one issue that Dickey had joined Neil onstage at a NY show. I don't recall that it mentioned the song(s) just that they played together.

What was the subscription to? Rolling Stone or something? That would have been really cool. I love Neil. Haven't seen him in a long time.

Yes, Rolling Stone. They had a weekly page, small little snippets about the music industry. That's where it was mentioned.

Finally got out and played the first round of the year ... did ok. Looking like severe storms tonight ...

I watched the first 2 songs on the first night at MSG on nugs.net - they were fabulous, and brought back a lot of good memories.

Saw Peter Frampton last night at the Chicago Theatre. God, I love that place (other than the steps!). I had read a review of his show the night before in Milwaukee and it seems we got pretty much the same thing. When we walked up there were a handful of people standing outside by one of the tour buses with stuff they wanted him to sign. He had three huge buses for a 5-piece band.
No opener, an okay setlist. I would have preferred more old stuff, as he kind of leaned towards more recent songs. He told a few cute stories, and there were some videos behind the stage that were funny. He mentioned the fact that he has to sit on stage. The rest of the band did the same, which was nice.
All in all, a nice evening at one of the most beautiful venues in the country.

Became very good friends with Stanley Sheldon who did several stints with Frampton including the Frampton Comes Alive release. Started out in Denver/Boulder area bands including Energy with Tommy Bolin. Did a lot of recording with TB, was Tommy's best friend. Stanley is an interesting cat, very well educated and multi-lingual. Also had an LA connection to when Gregg was out there too but it involves drugs so no need to go into that.

I forgot something about the show. Frampton told this story about befriending Chris Cornell of Soundgarden. I didn't get if he said they played together or not, but they played what I guess was Soundgarden's biggest hit. I have no idea what the name of the song is. There were no vocals but it was pretty cool. I've heard it before.

Hey coot -
I know you like Les Dudek. He is playing a club in Chicago July 26th. It is not far from Comiskey. Actually, I saw TTB play a radio show there a few years ago with Moid. The place is a dump but I am going to try to make it.
