So if anyone wants to brave Chicago in January, Tedeschi Trucks are playing Chicago Theatre. North Mississippi All Stars are on the bill too. I will do wott I can to work some magic. I can frequently get lucky. If I do I will everyone know.

Derek sitting in with NMA and Luther sitting in with TTB where some of the highlights from the Wheels of Soul tour.

Had jury duty at 26th and California today - not a great place, next to the Cook County jail. Luckily they let us go at noon - the trial was cancelled. So I went to Lagunitas Brewery, which was about a mile away. I was sitting there drinking their Willetts bourbon barrel Imperial Stout - which was very tasty. In walks Tom Ricketts, owner of the Cubs, with 2 other guys. They sit at the table next to me. After the brewmaster and GM from Lagunitas talked to them, I went over and talked to them for a few minutes. Told them I was a Cardinals fan, but congratulations anyway.... 😛 Told them my dad was a big fan and had waited 88 years. Told them my Harry Carey and Jack Brickhouse story. They were real nice, and I got to shake his hand a couple of times. My Cub fan relatives were jealous..... Grin Also got to talk to the brewmaster for a few minutes too.... Grin

Cool experience definitely. Cool

Did you happen to mention to Ricketts a Cubs fan friend of yours who in 2014 in a pub in Manchester, Iowa stated that prior to 2020 that the Cubs would win at least one World Series? And how that Cubs fan was heartily scoffed at? 😉

Not familiar with the Harry Caray/Brickhouse story.

I was in a meeting with Governor Ricketts prior to last season starting. Hadn't met him before that. I immediately brought up the Cubs and we took off talking for at least five minutes while everyone else was waiting to start the meeting. (Screw them ;))

He said he didn't know that they could match the 97 wins from 2015 or not but that the idea is make the playoffs as often as you can (pretty much the strategy of most teams I'd guess ;)) and cash in some of those chances in the Series (hopefully).

Glad they got that out of the way! 😉

Is the Big Ten really strong enough to have two teams in the top four as the playoffs stand right now?

Doesn't some of the luster have to be coming off Ohio State and Michigan, struggling against some not all that good of teams? Maybe just losing focus prior to their game next Saturday?

Got several places scoped out for the Goose Island Bourbon County release later this week.

Still have an unopened case of 12 of last year's issue. I've been having one every three months, since they say that the flavor will continue to change as the yeast keeps on keepin' on, and I really did notice a difference on the most recent one that I had. It was very, very tasty.

If I keep having one each three months (since they say the aging process continues for five years), I'm gonna hafta crack open that case.

What to do? What to do?

coot, have you ever heard of a beer called "Lagunitas"? I think it's a Chicago thing. Anyway, they have a brewery here and they also bottle beer and they have a thing going on where they are putting the W on their bottles but they are just kind of a needle in a haystack to find. If I luck out I hope to find a bottle or two and I can send one to you.

I will let you know.

Sure, I've tried several of their issues.

If you luck into any, one of those W bottles would be greatly appreciated! Smile
