I agree, the reggae and soul (and Merle Haggard!) last year made for more variety. I was less interested in the younger bands and hip hop this year as well, but that's probably because I'm getting old. For me, I was wishing every day was as good as Friday, and with the exception of the Flaming Lips, the evenings after 6:00 were kind of meh.
I was underwhelmed by Morrissey and the Misfits as headliners as well, even though I don't hate those performers.
One Smiths song AND no meat? Wtf?
The Misfits just couldn't carry a field that big.

I couldn't get into Flaming Lips, Waynes vocals just didn't sound good. Morrisey I'm not a big fan of and thought Nas set at the same time was better. My favorite "headlining" sets were Ween, Social Distortion, and Sleater Kinney. My favorite sets where Bad Religion, Hold Steady, Fitz and the Tantrums, Bob Mould, and Me First and the Gimmie Gimmies.
My take on the Misfits is that I hope they enjoy the money they got for these gigs. Danzig sounded terrible when singing and speaking. Rest of the band sounded good but the field wasn't the best location for them.
