Deb! You've had a great summer concert season!

I lucked out and ended up with 3-day passes-not great seats, but the view isn't obstructed, either!

Friday night I'm also doing the Karl Denson/Robert Randolph aftershow.

Congrats on the 3 day passes, Moid! Hey ... my thought is that not-great seats will be Great Seats as long as you're in the stadium! Glad you got tix and I know you'll have some great shows. (I tried! 6 or 7 computers going but just couldn't make it through!) My last Grateful Dead show was in that very stadium ... 7/9/95. MANY happy memories surrounding GD Chicago shows. Cool Looking forward to reading your reviews. Grin

I didn't really have the money to go to many shows when the Dead were still around, but I was in the lot in '92.

My oldest son will be going with me to the shows. He was born on 8/9/95, and I still have friends that are upset we didn't name him Lil' Jerry.

Speaking of patchouli... sharing a local news story regarding one of the infamous MT gang...

And speaking of infamous MT gang ... well, hi there MT people! Hope all are doing well and enjoying their summers. Been thinking about Jerry out there in Santa Clara ... I KNOW he's enjoying. Cool (And Moid - don't you have a show coming up this week, also? You will have a great one, I'm sure. That would be the one that got away for me. 😉 )

Busybusybusy here in MiddleEarth. Working on wrapping things up on the work front as I'm planning on giving myself the ultimate b-day gift of time this year in form of retirement (will not be taking up golf though 😉 ). Finally saw TTB a couple of weeks ago and loved them (no comment from the peanut gallery YRB 😉 ). Stones last weekend were most excellent ... and kind of serendipitous ... last time I saw them at Arrowhead was with my sis and a dear friend who is no longer with us ... 40 years ago! (yowza! that 40 years flew by!) Reminder of why I've loved these guys all these years (and of what a great rock and roll band is). Got a DMB show this week that I'm looking forward to. And I'm stepping outside of my comfort zone and will be getting my open water certification in a couple of weeks ... been taking scuba lessons in anticipation of a trip to the Keys with family and hoping to be swimming (not sleeping) with the fishes soon. Wish me luck!

Hope all y'all are doing great! Saw the article in paper yesterday and had to share it. Especially considering the possibility of an Aug 1st foray to the Franklin Street Brewery! (Been keeping my eyes on the updates here and hoping to be in CR 8/1 to raise a glass and listen to some music with a few nefarious characters. Cool ) Take care MTpeople!

(Sio - love that comic!!! I'm sure John is getting a chuckle out of it somewhere out in the cosmos, also... )

Deb hope the 8/1 show works out for you. It definitely on!

In an amphitheater down by the river......

Gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood 'ol Tuesday morning. Been a very busy early Chicago summer. Blues Fest was fun although the weather stunk. Pride Fest was fun. Now we have a whole week of Grateful Dead stuff going on.

It should be a great weekend. I sure wish the local folks I know had a parking lot pass secured, though!

There is a small club on the north side of Chicago (not far from us) called Martyrs'. Terraplin Flyer is playing there Friday - Sunday. They are something of a Dead cover band. Malvin Seals from the Jerry Garcia Band is the leader. Each night they are having different players. I want to go Sunday because Rob Barraco and Mark Karan (Ratdog) and playing.

I wouldn't surprised to see both of them sit in Friday and/or Saturday for The Dead shows.

Like I said, I want to see the Sunday show but I don't want to shell out $64 for me and THB to go. I could probably go alone (she wouldn't care since it is a Sunday night). And you have to be on the "guest list" so I can't scalp a ticket.

Might try anyway.

That show looks great, but Conor is with me for the weekend so I probably won't do 21 and over shows. It's limited choices considerably.

I think it's ok, not great. I haven't had the high ABV version.
