It was definitely a nice Bluesday Tuesday at Beer Geeks.
In addition to some nice guitar playing, I had a nice (but small- 6 ounce!) coconut rum barrel aged porter. Tasty.

Gin is 70 calories per shot, just sayin'...
Sounds good to me. Have u tried a bloody Mary with gin?

Who needs a high fiber diet when you can sample all kinds of beer?
One must keep oneself hydrated..... 😉
In jest, as I've told my kids at breakfast, "I believe I'll have oatmeal, an oatmeal stout..... 😛
"Is that a real poncho or is that a Sears poncho?"

Went to the bar/craft beer liquor store by me......hey had 4 Firestone beers on tap, including Firestone Parabola - it is a Russian Imperial Stout aged in bourbon barrels - it was very good, but $11 for a 7-oz glass. Unfortunately they didn't have any in bottles..... it was packed there - places can't keep the bourbon barrel stouts very long - they sell out fast.............

Serious question, was it that tasteworthy for the price?
Don't know if you've tried Samuel Smith's Russian Imperial Stout... amazing!
Recommended to me by harvey (colin) from this site.
It's around $10-12 for a four pack of 11 oz bottles.
Damn good.

Having a Monkey Man memory night.
As rich as his musical appreciation was, and as much as he loved the ABB, his personal favorite guitarist was John McLaughlin. (I suspect Buckethead wasn't far behind :))
Anyway, I've traded some shows recently with another Mclaughlin fan,( that I intentionally originally pursued so that I could send them to Wottie) and I'm listening back to what I burned. It's from the Love, Devotion, Surrender session outtakes.
That I would even think to mention it, there is a 3+ minute acoustic version of John Coltrane's "Naima" that will just overwhelm you. Nothing at all like the version on the commercial release.
Musically, a wow moment.
If any MTers are interested, just ask.
I sure miss John. 🙁
A crazier character you should ever want to meet.
Sail on John!

Mention alcohol in the title and look who shows up....................... 😛

The Firestone Parabola was very tasty....... 14% alcohol, so 7 ounces was probably just enough - with the bourbon flavor and the heaviness it is more of a sipping beer..........it is very much like Goose Island Bourbon County Stout - which is like gold around here - always sells out right away. Luckily, there is a 4-pack that was a Christmas present still in my laundry room.............
I also had the rum barrel porter last night at Beer Geeks - it was also very tasty..... So was the coconut brown ale, the robust porter, the imperial russian stout....... also got an autographed poster of Kelly Richey for my poster room.......

That should have been 4 posts.................

Gooooooooooooooooooooooooood 'ol National Chinese Almond Cookie Day!

Morning all

Last hockey game for me tonight for the season. Been a fun year. Was at Tuesday's Flyers-Islanders game. Sure was crazy seeing Flyers squander a 4-1 lead, then win it 5-4 with 2 seconds left.

Good afternoon fans of rain. All the stout talk has me thirsty for an IPA or a DIPA

All this stout talk has me thinking about Barry Manilow.

Letting that lovelight shine...
I think Lee likes being in the middle

Being an autograph collector... it sure is hard to resist temptation sometimes.
A lot of stuff up for grabs in their upcoming May auction.

Is the Beer Geeks you guys talk about in Highland, IN? If so, make time on your schedule on 7/14 to see Selwyn Birchwood when he performs there. He's really good.

That's the one. It's not far from my office. It's between the south side of Chicago and Gary, so the Brooks boys and the Kinseys come to sit in from time to time.
Bernard Allison will be there some time this summer as well.
