Hope you're ok, Lee. I've heard of that happening before. Lighter fluid is bad in so many ways.
I've been using one of these for years:
Can't remember if you have outlets on the rooftop. The chimneys like the one Woods uses are good as well. I think my last one got thrown away because a chipmunk (or some other little rodent bastid) made a house out of it.
Had an interesting evening yesterday. Nice day after the Chicago Marathon so I figured we would grill. Carin was inside and I was getting the grill ready. Charcoal wasn't really cooperating so I put the lid down. I opened it up and (I guess) the air hit it and it exploded on me. My face is burnt as well as my right arm.
The pain kind of comes and goes. Didn't go to the hospital.
Dayum! Stop, drop, and roll!
Was ya using lighter fluid? Here is the best way to start charcoal. Just takes a little newspaper or other paper. No lighter fluid taste and the charcoal is ready in 15-20 mins. You can get them at any Home Depot or Wally World.
As much as it pains me to do it, I have to agree with Woods. Stay away from lighter fluid or any of those easy-light charcoal briquettes.

Since we're all about grill talk, I did mesquite burgers last night during the Cubs game, served on Hawaiian buns. Mine was topped with pepper jack, ketchup, and mustard.
Over the weekend, I did (almost) Chicago dogs and DD grilled chicken breasts, with a creole rub.
