WEAPONS OF CHOICE
Ted Nugent endorses 'Gun Nut' ice cream
Firearm-rights advocate hooks up with company battling Ben & Jerry's

Ted Nugent, rock musician, avid outdoorsman and defender of gun rights, has come out in support of "Gun Nut" ice cream, a new flavor unveiled by a company billing itself as "the conservative alternative to liberal Ben & Jerry's."

Star Spangled Ice Cream Company announced the new partnership yesterday in a statement.

"Star Spangled Ice Cream, the ice cream with a conservative flavor, is proud that Ted Nugent had endorsed our newest politically incorrect flavor, Gun Nut," said company Vice President Richard Lessner. "Ted Nugent is a great defender of the people's right to bear arms. We believe Gun Nut is a perfect complement to the wild-game recipes in Ted's best-selling cookbook, 'Kill It and Grill It.'"

Nugent recently made news with the announcement of a new reality TV show, "Surviving Nugent," where contestants test their endurance while living off the land on the rocker's rural spread.

"This ice cream is awesome!" Nugent is quoted as saying on the company's website. "After I kill it and grill it, I plan to finish my feast with a bowl of Gun Nut!"

The new flavor is described as "coconut almond chip."

According to the statement, the company has partnered with Nugent and Gun Owners of America in the promotion of Gun Nut. The firm plans to donate $1 from the sale of each quart of Gun Nut to the educational work of the Gun Owners Foundation Gun Safety Project. Nugent, who heads United Sportsmen of America, works closely with GOA.

Star Spangled Ice Cream Company sells its product via its website. Besides Gun Nut, flavors include I Hate the French Vanilla, Nutty Environmentalist, Iraqi Road and Smaller Govern-mint. Star Spangled donates 10 percent of the profits from the sale of its original four flavors to charities supporting the U.S. Armed Forces.

In the statement, the company made a point to note who was not endorsing the new ice cream flavor: "Among the celebrity non-endorsers of Gun Nut are Barbra Streisand, Rosie O'Donnell, Alec Baldwin, Al Franken, Al Gore, Michael Moore and the Dixie Chicks."

Gotta love Uncle Ted!

Anyone see the VH1 show? Freaking hilarious!!! Hope they make it a regular series. I would imagine Ted is a little difficult to work with though

i'd have been pissed if i had to sleep in a barn then get pelted with paintballs. especially if i didnt get any of the $100 bills.

reminded me of that ranch in Nevada that has the hookers running around getting hunted. kinky.

I care nothing for Nugent's hobbies, recipes, or political views. As long as he's obeying the law, he can do whatever he wishes and advance whatever causes he pleases.

You people are ignoring the most important issue, here: Is the ice cream any good?

>>>Gotta love Uncle Ted!

not so much...ted's set at the celebration of life festival in LA was one of the worst sets i've had the misfortune of witnessing...it was the final horror that made me leave a horrible rock festival...

he does have guitar skills...but what he does with it is jive...not to mention he needs evolution the worst way...

Not a fan of "Uncle Ted" either (my family's bad enough, incidentally, can you imagine being related to HIM?). Is this ice cream thing real or a parody? I can't tell.

I've heard him on a lot of radio shows - the shock jocks like to have him call in while they're interviewing a liberal of some stripe or other.

With views as far to the right as his are, you would think he'd have a bit more appreciation for the right of people to disagree with him, and use legal, civilized means to fight against what he is fighting for. In most of the interviews I've heard, he is quite rude and insensitive toward anyone espousing an opinion contrary to his own. Conservatism is fine . . . reaction (as in, reactionary) is not.

I have my problems with Ted suggesting to school kids to be narcs, not the way to handle it because you can quit doing drugs, but the narc thing will stay with you a long, long time. If he were in my family I would still do whatever I wanted to in front of him, and then head out to the next Crappy hole

Past that, he is dead right about understanding nature. There are those who oppose him who wouldn't know how nature works if it bit them in their a$$, and who then turn around and freak out about hunting and fishing and , oh my God, eating meat. Here is a news flash, we are part of the food chain, and food is not grown at grocery stores wrapped in plastic. Vegetarians have a sick side to them. They discriminate against plant life forms because they do not have eyes and can't make a noise. The plants of the world breath, have a life force, and need to eat to live because they are alive. They are killed, literally, by veg-heads in a most discriminatory way simply because they are a different kind of life form. Bottom line, they are a life form that has to die to satisfy humans.

It is like that 1950's movie where the space aliens come to earth to eat humans. Why? Because to them we, like plants are to us, are lower life forms. So, kill them and eat them.

The best thing to do is read the book, The Secret Life Of Plants and study Kirlian photography to get a real glimpse of the life form that veg-heads are killing.

Ted, I will help you field dress that buck if you give me some of that backstrap!

Yummy!

Derek H

What gripes me about the Vegans is when they try to shove their views and opinions on me. I don't run around telling them what to eat and I would appreciate the same from them. Besides, there is a reason we have canine teeth...

Just got my ice cream order a few days ago. The Gun Nut is okay (not a big fan of coconut), but the Smaller Gover-Mint is really good.

Yeah! If we're not supposed to eat animals, then why the heck are they made out of meat?

If Vegans would come out and say; "I am not a vegetarian because I love animals, I'm a vegetarian because I hate plants," I would be down with it.

I'm not a vegetarian, but I think most of them have a problem with people specifically raising and manufacturing animals for beef/poultry/pork and dairy consumption only. It's the way these animals are treated during their lives that bothers the vegitarians more than anything, and by not eating meat, they feel they are reducing the need for these animals to be in demand for food.

As far as them eating veggies, some plants bear fruit that will eventually rot and fall off anyway if not harvested, so you're not killing the plant, per se.

Could you be referring to the Outer Limits episode named "How To Serve Man". In the final scene, the scientists realize that the book is not a study of humanitarian works, but a cookbook.
