Rumors are flying that the Dead have been asked to keep that date open! It would be awesome if the ABB were involved as well. That is going to one helll of a party in DC and the boys deserve to be a part of the festivities too.

It is more than just rumors that the Derek Trucks Band has been in communication with the Obama campaign about playing the Inaugeration.

No sh*t. Please disclose more details, if you can. That would be one hell of a gig.

I guess we'll find out if the rumors are true or not soon enough.

Sorry to break the news to you.............

The US Government wouldn't have or even want a rock act at the actual inauguration ceremony. That gig will be given exclusively to military and Marine Corps bands, where there's a whole lot of pomp and circumsance, with world and national leaders in the audience.

If there was a popular band playing at the inauguration, the rest of the world will not take the president seriously, and consider the whole thing a sham, and a travesty.

If the ABB or the Dead played in DC during the Presidential inauguration festivities,
it would be at some afterparty far away from the main event.

How do you get a ticket to the festivities? I see a lot a talk on the news about folks buying tickets for thousands of dollars and have heard they haven't even been printed yet.

Barry...what they are talking about are the parties afterward, where popular acts including rock bands play every four years.

But I have a similar point as yours: Even if the dTb or Allmans are selected to play one of these, they could very well be at one of the events where the new president only shows up for a few minutes or not at all. They won't be at some main event playing live on CNN.

Barry not sure where you get your information but rock bands have played at the innauguration for years. Fleetwood Mac played at Clintons, Elton John played at Clinton's or Bush's those are two that I remmember. The Party's will be all over town at like 20 different venues there will be R&B, Jazz, Rock all kinds.
