See! More and more people are coming to the fore, warning of a Stalinist-style society under BarryO. Are we ALL crazy? I hope so - but I rather think not.

Georgia congressman warns of Obama dictatorship
By BEN EVANS (AP)

WASHINGTON (AP) — A Republican congressman from Georgia said Monday he fears that President-elect Obama will establish a Gestapo-like security force to impose a Marxist or fascist dictatorship.

"It may sound a bit crazy and off base, but the thing is, he's the one who proposed this national security force," Rep. Paul Broun said of Obama in an interview Monday with The Associated Press. "I'm just trying to bring attention to the fact that we may — may not, I hope not — but we may have a problem with that type of philosophy of radical socialism or Marxism."

Broun cited a July speech by Obama that has circulated on the Internet in which the then-Democratic presidential candidate called for a civilian force to take some of the national security burden off the military.

"That's exactly what Hitler did in Nazi Germany and it's exactly what the Soviet Union did," Broun said. "When he's proposing to have a national security force that's answering to him, that is as strong as the U.S. military, he's showing me signs of being Marxist."

Obama's comments about a national security force came during a speech in Colorado about building a new civil service corps. Among other things, he called for expanding the nation's foreign service and doubling the size of the Peace Corps "to renew our diplomacy."

"We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we've set," Obama said in July. "We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded."

Broun said he also believes Obama likely will move to ban gun ownership if he does build a national police force.

Obama has said he respects the Second Amendment right to bear arms and favors "common sense" gun laws. Gun rights advocates interpret that as meaning he'll at least enact curbs on ownership of assault weapons and concealed weapons. As an Illinois state lawmaker, Obama supported a ban on semiautomatic weapons and tighter restrictions on firearms generally.

"We can't be lulled into complacency," Broun said. "You have to remember that Adolf Hitler was elected in a democratic Germany. I'm not comparing him to Adolf Hitler. What I'm saying is there is the potential."

Obama's transition office did not respond immediately to Broun's remarks.

The GA congressman who said this must have only watched the 20 sec Youtube of Obama's national service speech. From an ignorant partisan, I could see not looking into it further, but Rep Broun is a medical doctor! And even more stupid is to say these things post-election. If his district needs help from the President at some future point(like disaster aid), his constituents may not get the help they need because of this doofus!

Thankfully I'm not in Broun's district, but I am embarrased for my fellow Georgian.

Jesus....Broun is my congressman....and I voted for him? Can I get a do over? I voted for him because he was incumbent...and up to now, he's done nothing to raise eyebrows. As one of his constituents, I think I'll write Rep. Broun an e-mail and give him an ass chewing.

All these people who think Obama is going to waltz and and turn our government into a dictatorship...GET REAL!! I didn't vote for him, but I don't have any unreasonable fear he's a Marxist, a Communist, Fascist, whatever. I'll give him a fair shake.

And Magodee...you, sir, can KMA. I may be a native Hoosier, but I am southern by choice.

Thousands of Troops Are Deployed on U.S. Streets Ready to Carry Out "Crowd Control"

By Naomi Wolf, AlterNet. Posted October 8, 2008.

Background: the First Brigade of the Third Infantry Division, three to four thousand soldiers, has been deployed in the United States as of October 1. Their stated mission is the form of crowd control they practiced in Iraq, subduing "unruly individuals," and the management of a national emergency. I am in Seattle and heard from the brother of one of the soldiers that they are engaged in exercises now. Amy Goodman reported that an Army spokesperson confirmed that they will have access to lethal and non lethal crowd control technologies and tanks.

George Bush struck down Posse Comitatus, thus making it legal for military to patrol the U.S. He has also legally established that in the "War on Terror," the U.S. is at war around the globe and thus the whole world is a battlefield. Thus the U.S. is also a battlefield.

He also led change to the 1807 Insurrection Act to give him far broader powers in the event of a loosely defined "insurrection" or many other "conditions" he has the power to identify. The Constitution allows the suspension of habeas corpus -- habeas corpus prevents us from being seized by the state and held without trial -- in the event of an "insurrection." With his own army force now, his power to call a group of protesters or angry voters "insurgents" staging an "insurrection" is strengthened.

U.S. Rep. Brad Sherman of California said to Congress, captured on C-Span and viewable on YouTube, that individual members of the House were threatened with martial law within a week if they did not pass the bailout bill:

"The only way they can pass this bill is by creating and sustaining a panic atmosphere. … Many of us were told in private conversations that if we voted against this bill on Monday that the sky would fall, the market would drop two or three thousand points the first day and a couple of thousand on the second day, and a few members were even told that there would be martial law in America if we voted no."
If this is true and Rep. Sherman is not delusional, I ask you to consider that if they are willing to threaten martial law now, it is foolish to assume they will never use that threat again. It is also foolish to trust in an orderly election process to resolve this threat. And why deploy the First Brigade? One thing the deployment accomplishes is to put teeth into such a threat.

I interviewed Vietnam veteran, retired U.S. Air Force Colonel and patriot David Antoon for clarification:

"If the President directed the First Brigade to arrest Congress, what could stop him?"

"Nothing. Their only recourse is to cut off funding. The Congress would be at the mercy of military leaders to go to them and ask them not to obey illegal orders."............

Congressman: Obama wants Gestapo-like force
GOP rep invokes Nazis, Soviets, but Bush backed Obama's civilian corps idea

updated 3:16 a.m. ET, Tues., Nov. 11, 2008

WASHINGTON - A Republican congressman from Georgia said Monday he fears that President-elect Obama will establish a Gestapo-like security force to impose a Marxist dictatorship.

Obama's comments about a national security force came during a speech in Colorado in which he called for expanding the nation's foreign service.

"We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we've set," Obama said in July. "We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded."

Obama's idea endorsed by Bush

The Obama transition team declined to comment on Broun's remarks. But spokesman Tommy Vietor said Obama was referring in the speech to a proposal for a civilian reserve corps that could handle postwar reconstruction efforts such as rebuilding infrastructure — an idea endorsed by the Bush administration.

Broun said he believes Obama would move to ban gun ownership if he does build a national security force.

What I'm saying is there is the potential of going down that road."

Well what is really interesting about this thread is that RBK AKA "the peasant" cut out the part where Bush endorsed this idea.

Bush is the one who implemented this action.....not Obama....so RBK is now telling us by posting this article that Bush is a wimp who has been doing Obama's bidding since July? Amazing.

I was one of them. I think this sort of thing is absurd no matter who says it and I wish it would stop. BTW, I voted for Obama even though I have been highly critical of the Democrats for the past several years. Loyal opposition means loyal opposition. When an Obama opponent is arrested for criticism then I will start to be concerned. I felt the same way during the Bush years.

WTF? Invoking Hitler? This statement alone shows what an idiot this guy is.

Using Hitler as a historic reference, not as a comparison.
Remember that Hitler had his own army formed of Nationalsozosialistiche Deutsche Arbeiterpartei (Nazi) members. The S.A. or stormtroopers, were attired in a brown uniform.
They were thus known as the "brown shirts". They enforced party rules, not laws, and were the front runners in the anti Semitic persecutions. They were also used to terrorize and intimidate political rivals.

Some people are seeing a historic correlation to both the election of Obama (Hitler was elected President during a financial crisis) and the statement on the need of a civilian security agency.

IF you took his remarks to mean that. I've watched that clip 10 times and every time I hear it I take it that he is saying that we need more money and better quality at the local law enforcement level.
