Curious, we have had a bunch of threads with questions about your favorite band, album, show, etc. What is your favorite song? Or the song that is stuck in your head mostly.

Please list just one song. Your most favorite...................

Mine is

Endless Parade by Govt Mule

A primadonna with a premonition feels like he's preachin' to the choir
A superstar filled with superstition can't pull himself out of the mire
All you ever dreamed of is finally in your reach but careful what you wish for
If you don't practice what you preach

The circus came to town, I guess it must have stayed
It's like an endless parade

All these people you can see through like ghosts, maybe you've seen too much
Nothing's real, nothing you can feel, no one you can touch

Strangers stare in silence, they think they know your mind
No place to jump off, that's the way the game's designed

Another new day dawns, another sunset fades
It's like an endless parade

Music, music and more music imploding inside your brain
The life that you have chosen did it finally drive you insane

Psychophantic tirades fill your head with ammunition
Sights set on your enemies but you keep losing your position

Reluctantly you face the day try to get your gameface on
What used to be a fantasy has now become a marathon

Every heart you ever broke, all the people you've betrayed
Another new day dawns
Another sunset fades

Yeh, the circus came to town, I guess it must have stayed
It's like an endless parade

"If It Hadn't Been For Love" by the SteelDrivers.

Never woulda hitch hiked to Birmingham
if it hadn't been for love
Never woulda caught the train to Louisian'
if it hadn't been for love

Never woulda run through the blinding rain
Without one dollar to my name
If it hadn't been
If it hadn't been for love.

Never woulda seen the trouble that I'm in
if it hadn't been for love
Woulda been gone like a wayward wind
if it hadn't been for love

Nobody knows it better than me
I wouldn't be wishing I was free
If it hadn't been
If it hadn't been for love

Four cold walls against my will
At least I know she's lying still
Four cold walls without parole
Lord have mercy on my soul

Never woulda gone to that side of town
If it hadn't been for love
Never woulda took a mind to track her down
if it hadn't been for love

Never woulda loaded up a forty four
put myself behind a jail house door
if it hadn't been
if it hadn't been for love

Four cold walls against my will
at least I know she's lying still
Four cold walls without parole
Lord have mercy on my soul.

"Hero" by Pop Evil. Saw them at a bike meet, met the band after their set. You will be hearing these guys on the radio real soon. They will also be opening shows for Tesla starting next month.

Grace Potter & The Nocturnals "Big White Gate" is a song that gives me goosebumps & and sometimes also brings an emotional tear to my eyes every time I listen to it. Here are the lyrics ______________ My body's aching from laying in this bed
I went singing in the rain and the cold got to my head
I don't know who's paying i just know what the doctor said
84 years of a sinning life and in the morning i'll be dead

I had three daughters
A new man for every one
The only man that i ever loved
Left me with my only son
I was a no good mother
I was a no good wife
There's only one thing that i did right in this godforsaken life

Saint peter won't you open up the big white gate
Cause i heard about forgiveness and i hope it ain't too late
I ain't no holy roller but you go tell your king
That all the folks up in heaven might like to hear me sing

I sang to my children
Before they strayed so far
I sang for my lovers
Or a nickel in a tip jar
I never knew jesus
I never read the good book
But on my day of dying
I'm giving life a second look

Saint peter won't you open up the big white gate
Cause i heard about forgiveness and i hope it ain't too late
I ain't no holy roller but you go tell your king
That all the folks up in heaven might like to hear me sing

It's coming on time now
My body's getting cold
I've got no will i've got no prayer
My story's all been told
I'm ready for the land of fire
But i'd love to see the land of gold
So nurse bring me my guitar
One more song before i go

Saint peter won't you open up the big white gate
Cause i heard about forgiveness and i hope it ain't too late
I ain't no holy roller but you go tell your king
That all the folks up in heaven might like to hear me sing

Interesting topic, really makes you think about your listening habits.

If I had to pick one song that I've listened to more than any other this year, it's probably been "The Deathless Horsie," from disc 2 of Zappa's "Shut Up 'N Play Yer Guitar."

On the other side of the coin, and giving a nod to some "new stuff," I've played the hell out of my two favorite tracks from Levon Helm's Dirt Farmer - Anna Lee and Got Me a Woman.

I can't get enough of this song lately

Judas Priest - "Worth fighting for"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a2NgnledwFg

"Worth Fighting For"

You said I could never find a way to ease your mind
That where I'd go you'd wind up in the dust
I tried so hard to have you reach another side of me
Instead you went to nowhere and forgot

So I wander on
Asking where you might have gone
From what I knew before
Some things are worth fighting for

Desert heat can wear you down
But still I'm rollin' through
Did I see your figure in the haze?
I am driven by a thirst to quench myself of love
The sun beats on me for the price I've paid

So I wander on
Asking where you might have gone
From what I knew before
Some things are worth fighting for
Yeah!

Night road leads me to a town of ghosts
Beckoned by the glow of keresone & tumbleweed
They're calling out (they're calling out)
Forever more (forever more)

I'm leaning in the wind
Head bowed down from what I saw
My shadow for a friend
Still some things are worth fighting for

So I'm moving on
Asking where you might have gone
From what I knew before
Some things are worth fighting for
Yeah!

Worth fighting for

Runner up - "Talk Hard" by Stan Ridgway

Wow Mark, was listening to that recently, really brought me back a ways.

One of the few songs I really love that my wife would agree on. Actually makes her tear up. Mushy things like that can do a world of good for a guy's "luck"

...For the past couple of weeks it's been "Second Skin" by Widespread Panic, one of my all time favorite bands for many years.
There are 2 different live versions I have been completely hooked on. Jimmy Herring has been rippin' this tune a new one during the Jam section - his solos have been simply ungodly...and it's also one of JB's best vocal tunes.

Oh yeah, great lyrics as well...

Second Skin
(Widespread Panic/Jerry Joseph)

This is the season
These are the waking days
Throw off your wet sheets
Step into the Soft Parade
Hollowed and glisten
Like sweat on a moving train
Baby, listen
We're about to be born again

Come down
This is your second skin
Surround
This is your second skin
This is the love inside
These are your fears you hide away

Maybe it's a burden
Or maybe it's nature's gift
The stretch and the burn
All the colors you're working with
This is a cleaning
These are the shapes we've taken in
Real life our dreaming
This is our second skin

Come down
This is your second skin
Surround
This is your second skin
This is the love inside
These are your fears and pride today

This is just another story
Whisper the walk you walk
Magic and glory
This is just flesh from talk
This is a moment
This is the time to choose
This is your hour
Nothing but skin to lose

Come down
This is your second skin
Surround
This is your second skin
This is the love inside
These are your fears you hide away

Come down
This is your second skin
Surround
This is your second skin
This is the love inside
These are your fears and pride today

King Harvest - The band - Can't hear it enough

Has to be the funkiest tune by one of the non-funkiest band ever.

Maybe it's a guilty pleasure, but "Bruises" by Chairlift has grabbed me of late...Ya, it's the song in the latest iTunes commercial ("I Tried to do handstands..."). What can I say????

http://www.myspace.com/chairlift

The last couple of years "Off the Record" by My Morning Jacket has received the most repeats in my car.
