Please, anyone who is passing along any tradeable shows, please include the Lineage of what type of recording devcies etc...were used.

If you are going to trade shows outside of this site, most traders who know their stuff, will be interested in this info.
Please try and keep the information on all shows intact.

BTW, this does not refelct on you Dave..thanks for the freebie.

Thank You

I agree, I prefer the lineage and thankfully Etree has most of it in their database already unlike other show database listing sites.

Just because etree lists lineage for a particular show doesn't mean it's the same for the show you have. I have several shows with unknown source info that would be difficult to trade with hardcore traders, but I mainly accept them for my personal enjoyment. Many other trading forums don't allow shows lacking source info to be traded. Excellent topic Ed.

I just remember Dennis putting up something like this a few years ago as things started to get a little sloppy with the trading. While I don't understand everything that is in the lineage, I think it's an important part of the recording.

I'm 100% on this as well.

Question: Is it permissable to vine or trade a show where the lineage was not included by including the tag "lineage unknown" where the lineage information would normally reside underneath the artist, date, venue etc? ?

I don't support or care about the lineage tape trading should be about FUN enjoy what you receive. I have almost every show recorded and ZERO lineage. So it is ok to trade and vine or give away any show without it.

I agree with it is for fun & some things are not always going to have info....

But I try to keep info on my list as best I can......

I have got shows from tapers who don't have info on their own stuff......

Now that I download & do flac its easyer to keep the info......

Correct, I learned alot from Dennis, especially with the Van Morrison stuff. I always, always made lineage and setlists available in my offers. With downloading, the info is there ( lineage AND setlists), pass it along and the hardcore traders will be happy. If any of you deal with the folks at VanTrades, you know what I speak of. Those folks are hard core, but oh do we have some beautiful Van Morrison shows circulating!

IMOH, etree is the classic example of the downside of copy & paste. Someone adds info on a show and other folks just assume that the info is the same for the version they have and that misinformation just keeps getting sent along. I have found numerous errors of lineage, setlists, date, location, etc.
Personally, I don't use it.
