I wonder which story was correct...

quote:

Behind the Scenes: Meet George Obama

HURUMA, Kenya (CNN) -- We found Barack Obama's half-brother living in a Nairobi slum.

George Obama, whose birth certificate shows that he is Barack Obama's half-brother, lives in a small house in Huruma that he shares with his mother's extended family, far away from the presidential campaign circus.

In his memoir, "Dreams for my Father," the Democratic presidential candidate describes meeting George as a "painful affair." Barack Obama's trip to Kenya meant meeting family he had never known.

In the book, which is popular in Nairobi and can be found in almost any supermarket, Obama looks back at his personal story and his struggles to reconcile with a Kenyan father who left him and his mother when he was just a child.

Barack Obama Sr. died in a car accident when George was just 6 months old. And like his half-brother, George hardly knew his father. George was his father's last child and had not been aware of his famous half-brother.

"I think I wanted to learn about my father the same way he did," George Obama told me about why he read the book. "He came here searching for his roots, and I was also trying to find my roots." Watch George Obama talk about meeting his half-brother for the first time

Unlike his grandmother in Kogela, in Western Kenya, George Obama had received little attention from the media.

But reports surfaced in the past few days, springing from an Italian Vanity Fair article saying George Obama is living in a shack and "earning less than a dollar a day."

The reports left him angry.

"I was brought up well. I live well even now," he said. "The magazines, they have exaggerated everything.

"I think I kind of like it here. There are some challenges, but maybe it is just like where you come from, there are the same challenges," Obama said.

Obama, who is in his mid-20s, is learning to become a mechanic and is active in youth groups in Huruma. He said he tries to help the community as much as he can.

At least one of his neighbors feels that perhaps the candidate should help the brother.

"I would like Obama to visit his brother to see how he is living, to improve his way of life," said Emelda Negei, who runs a small dispensary near Obama's house.

But George Obama will have none of it. He draws inspiration from his famous half-brother. He acknowledges that he is biased but said he knows that his half-brother will be the next president.
"Because he wants to be [president]," he said. "I think in life, what you want is what you are supposed to get."

Thanks for posting that, ST. What a crock of sh*t they were trying to put out on this.

Too bad RBK isn't around to read this. Haven't seen much of him since he got busted.

I would think that Obama would be having some contact with this brother, now that all this has come out.

I find it kind of refreshing that we have a man running for president with a little different background than all the lily white, "good family" candidates that we usually have to choose from.

Macon, I'm kind of surprised you like Allen Keyes. He's a fundamentalist Southern Baptist preacher in a politician suit.

That's not "the truth." It's your opinion.

I actually voted for Allen Keyes once, back in my born again days. Probably the 1996 Georgia primary, I think. I know a lot about him. I don't know why he "has his sh*t together" better than McCain or Obama. No matter who wins the election, the one who loses will keep right on trucking in the Senate, living a better life than the vast majority of Americans. I think you could argue that both of them have their sh*t together pretty good. Just because you don'tthink either of them will make a good president doesn't mean that they are pathetic losers like you usually portray them.

Man - it's not just my thought. If you were to do a poll right now, I think you'd see a staggering amount of people that would say that they didn't think either Obama or McCain were up to the task.

They're both just too slick/greasy/in it for the reason of doing nothing more than being 100% politicians. They both bend stories to please the masses, and I just don't see either of them being able to do anything with the current state of crap we're in right now.

Just because you can't see it, doesn't mean it can't, or won't happen.

If you did a poll right now, how many people do you think would agree with you that Allen Keyes is a better candidate for president?

Again, a non-story.
So Barack Hussein Obama, II has a half brother living in Kenya, who is learning to be a mechanic, and helps out in his community.
What's the big story? Where is this connected to the election?

The big story was right wing reports that said he was living in poverty and people on the right side in this forum getting all over Obama. When the story turned out to be less than the truth, nobody said a thing. Amazing how these people are never wrong.

I just have to look at who is doing the reporting, and it really wouldn't bother me about him helping his brother or not.
I just hope that this doesn't turn into another "Jimmy/Billy" situation.

Like I've said before, I'm probably a lot further "right" than most on this forum, but I really don't see the story behind it. I mean if it's so important about him and his half-siblings, why hasn't anybody come up with something about his half-sister?

The issue was solely centered here in the Whipping Post. Some saw his estranged brother, whom he had only met twice in his life, as someone Obama should be taking care of and since he wasnt, Obama was some kind of hypocrite. I dont think you have to worry about Obama importing his Kenyan brother.

It's a non story. I dislike Obama as most know. I don't think you saw me post anything about it.

Wow. I just saw on FOX news that McCain's folks are running an ad about this, without mentioning at all this latest update.

This should be interesting.

I think you are right.

They are probably now looking for anyone who hasn't said anything bad about McCain, to find a suitable candidate. They have to know the tables will be turned.

I will hand it to BarryO's handlers. They've got damage control down to a science as this piece ably demonstrates. It must be because they get so much practice.

What don't you like about Keyes? You never answered

Back to this thread - it was a non-issue to some of you guys when the story first came out, remember? Now it's a thread?

You don't care what I don't like about Allen Keyes, and I'm not wasting time telling you.

You brought him up, and said you were going to vote for him, without offering a single reason why. I really don't think you know anything at all about him except what you read on a web page that day.

I've noticed you haven't answered a single question today. You've merely demeaned and debased. Even more so than usual.

I haven't seen a question worth answering.

Here's one for you:

Why haven't you explained why almost all of your posts here were copy and paste jobs from other sites until we busted you, and now you just ignore the issue and slam everyone you can think of?

Are you even remotely aware of the zero credibility you have here?

Sorry, that is two questions. And I doubt you answer either one.

But, wait Here's another:

Have you ever started a thread here that wasn't slamming someone?
