I have always liked the Black Crowes but had never seen them live , well I saw them last night as well as the Thursday before and I have to say these guys ROCK , two fantastic shows in 8 days . The show in Ottawa was only 75 minutes ( it was at a festival ) but I enjoyed every minute of it , the show last night was a full show and it was amazing , great soloing from Rich Robinson and Luther Dickinson , extended jams , the band sounded great . The Ottawa show was outdoors which was really cool , last night was indoors at a music theatre so the sound was great , I can't wait to see them again .
I don't have a setlist for last night but when I do I will post it .

The Black Crowes
10 July 2008 - Cisco Bluesfest - Ottawa, Onta

Movin' On Down The Line
Goodbye Daughters Of The Revolution
Black Moon Creeping
Jealous Again
Locust Street
Poor Elijah - Tribute To Johnson (Medley)
God's Got It
Thorn In My Pride
Soul Singing
Remedy
Wounded Bird
Twice As Hard

Crowes rock!

My wife and I are going to catch them next Sunday near Grand Rapids, MI. It'll be our 4th BC show since last October. They were at their best with Marc Ford and Eddie Harsh in the band but I love Luther Dickinson. He's a player for sure. I've always loved the NMAS, so I was excited to hear what he brought to the BC. Not disappointed!

Glad you enjoyed. Spread the word!

peace,
jj

I recorded a live deal thing on some HD music channel...with Luther...I must say, that lived up to my expectations! I freakin love the black crowes...one of the last bands that still plays rock and roll in my opinion. Saw them live a few years back with the original lineup, and it was borderline Allmans. It was a guitar orgy...every song Rich and Marc switched guitars. I had a boner. I can see the Rolling Stones reference...but I think its very unique in its own right. That last disc kicks a$$.

I may get crucified for this one but Mick Jagger can't carry Chris Robinson's jock strap in the vocal category.....not even in the same sport let alone ballpark.

Was that with the new lineup? Like you, I just never got into them pre Luther Dickenson. Now I'm completely sold. I'm seeing then later ths summer and just can't wait.

I'm witcha.

Chris is one of the best frontman/singer of any rock n roll band. EddieP will agree also. I believe he'll argue that Chris is better than Robert Plant. I don't disagree.

Enjoy the Crowes!
Peace

I'll go one further. I thought the Crowes did a great job as a whole on the "Live At The Greek" album and I would rather listen to that album than "The Song Remains The Same"!

Are you kidding? Crucified? Not for stating the obvious. In a live showChris Robinson sings on key and you can understand him. As for studio work, Chris' stuff is dead on.

Was it just me, or did they hardly ever show Luther's face, or even show him for more than a second. I think the Robinson brothers are still riddled with vanity. Egotism is what has made that band so turmultuous throughout the years. I bet they freakin
rock live with Luther, but that video recording proves that they are still a couple ego-maniacs.

I'm sure Chris and Rich made it a point to sit down with VH1 and edit their Unplugged performance to make sure their egos were full that day. You know, cause that's what rock n roll types do, they spend their time editing their cable unplugged performances ensuring their band mates receive less 'face time' then the stars.

I wasn't there, but perhaps so!

One thing that's great about them, I think, is their knowledge of so many other great artists. The "Rich song" in Charlottesville two weeks ago tonight was "The Mighty Quinn", and the encores were Gram Parson's "She" and The Band's "The Night They Drove Ol' Dixie Down".
