Hello, gang.

Well, I'm packing up for my July 1st move. I start pulling out binder after binder of CDR's that I haven't listened to in YEARS. Mostly stuff I do like, Mule, DTB, ABB, and Dead and Dead-related.

See, I've already identified my ten or so favorite shows from each of these groups (maybe 20 in the case of the ABB), have those in both MP3 for my player as well as lossless back-up to an external hard drive, so I really don't need all of these shows.

So, I'm planning a giveaway. I haven't yet worked out the logistics of how it will work yet, but if you're up for a good amount of Mule, PLQ, DTB and GD, stay tuned to this thread in the next couple of days.

Money's a bit tight, so I can't just do straight freebies, but I'll probably put together a "mailer with postage" sort of deal . . . pick your shows off a list I will put together in the next couple of days, send your mailer, and I'll fill it up and send it back to you.

Something like that.

We'll see how this works, then I'll do the same with my currently-dormant ABB collection - which amounts to about as much as the other groups above all put together. I'm sure I'll want to keep a greater proportion of those shows, so I'll need a little more time to sift through everything.

I have a void in ABB live shows. I would love to fill space with some 70-74 shows.

Happy to send all the appropriate envelopes(or box) with postage (or cash for)!

Let me know.

Phil

i would love some Dead and ABB, i am just getting into the DTB so that would intrest me.
this is a great thing you are doing, i wouldbe willing to send a couple of extra mailers to help out some others and /or cd holders or somthing ...if i am going to get somthing i feel i should pass somthing along as well.
i would need some guidance on types of mailers that are best and postage rates.
let me know what i can do.

one specific request the dead hartford 8/3/04 with warren sitting in warrens solo set is available but not the whole show.

Hey there,

This is one of my favorite shows. I was at the show the night before at the Denver Fillmore. Great show with Rose Hill Drive opening.

This show is great with an acoustic set and an electric set.

PM me your address and I'll send it to you. You can also purchase it at muletracks. My copy is an a+ audience rip.

Heh. Thanks, Pete. I kinda figured I'd better squash that misunderstanding before it grew legs - if for no other reason then such a rumor would cause NYC real estate values to plummet.

No, I'm moving from the far North Suburbs of Chicago to the far north side of the city itself, near Touhy and Western, for those that know the area. I can say it's certainly more New-Yorkish than where I'm currently living. I'll have great access to public transportation, public beaches, lots of restaurants and entertainment options from a wide variety of cultures, be close to a few major univesities, etc.

On of the main things I don't like about where I live now is the complete lack of local flavor. It's like I live in an effing mall. Everything around, restaurants, shops, fast food, etc., is exactly the same as you'd find in thousands of other middle-class suburbs across the country. Blah.

As far as independent book stores, used record shops, decent second-hand stores, local theater, art galleries, "art house" movie theaters, Mexican food actually made by a Mexican person, Chinese food actually made by a Chinese person, etc., we've got none of that (I'm exaggerating a bit with those last two examples, but Panda Express and Moe's Southwestern Grill ain't cuttin' it).

It'll be good to be back in the city.

Regarding the CD giveway, judging from a few of the responses here and some of the PM's I've received, I think folks might be under the assumption that I'm talking about a lot more music than I actually have.

The first wave will be maybe sixty or so shows from the assorted bands mentioned above, so if someone's hoping to score particular dates, I don't think this will be of much help. This might be best for those just getting their collections off the ground.

I'll try to get the list up tomorrow.

Peace.

9/17/04 – 2
10/6/04 – 2
11/13/04 – 2

I guess we'll set a limit of 5 or six shows per person, regardless of disc count. That way we'll be able to spread them around a bit but still get this done fairly quickly - I hope. Claim the shows you want in a response to this thread, then PM me for my address. I'll give you my address, and it is your responsibility to send me a mailer with your return address and enough postage to cover the # of discs you're requesting.

All clear?

Peace.

P.S. - Red Text denotes show has been claimed and is no longer available

P.P.S. - if you want your discs in paper or plastic sleeves, send 'em, 'cuz I ain't got none.

Well, we've had a couple of nibbles so far . . . you guys can have more than one show each, you know . . . at that rate this will take forever.

Come on, free music! Take a bunch.

The 2/11/70 and 8/16/74 have been claimed.
