Ah right, Now I see what all the fuss was about, What a player! Nice low key set from Johnny Dickinson. apart from about 10 mins in a pub a decade ago the last time I saw him play was when he was with Paul Lamb and The Kingsnakes at the Putney Half moon maybe 20 years ago. Look forward to the one off charity reformation of John's first band, "legendary" North-East Southern Rock!!! band Split Crow.

I'm going on Saturday (checks World Cup wall-chart!).

No idea what to expect but interested to see the venue.

On the subject of Johnny Dickinson, I saw him solo years ago at Windsor Arts Centre. He introduced a train Blues by saying that, at this point in the show, he always asked the audience if there was a railway station in the town. A posh lady with cut-glass Berkshire accent piped up, "We have TWO!"

The next time I saw Johnny at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, he reached the same point in the show. Being in London, he explained that his traditional question was redundant but told the story of the two railway stations in Windsor, mimicking the posh lady in his Northumbrian accent!

"It's true", I nodded to the audience around me!

Lovely guy and smashing guitarist and singer.

I've just noticed that the Monty Python team are playing the O2 from the 1st July onwards when Gov't Mule are playing the same venues Brooklyn Bowl, this means its going to be quite hectic coming out of there with 12000+ people spilling out at the same time fighting for a cab ride home.

for those of us going to the Umphreys McGee gig by public transport.. good news.

update from umphreys.com for all three nights: "We have been informed that due to public transportation closing just after midnight, the venue has altered the show schedule. Doors will open at 6:30, support at 7:30, with Umphrey’s McGee starting at 8:45

Now two-for-one for all nights for Umphreys McGee.

It may not help that the e-mail has the dates as 19-21 JULY!

Looks like it could be a little quiet. Three nights too ambitious?

Blimey, someone showing some sense for a change! Let's hope Mule, Galactic & NMAS do the same.

Got a link for that? It's not on the band or venue websites.

Don't seem to be able to attach a link.

"UMPHREY'S MCGEE
THU 19 - SAT 21 July | Doors 7pm
2 FOR 1 ON ALL TICKETS
That's right, we're giving you the chance to see Chicago prog-rockers Umphrey’s McGee and their incredible, supercharged show live at Brooklyn Bowl London, at a 2 for 1 rate. Famed for exhilarating, marathon shows and always doing the unexpected, this is the perfect gig if you like a good old fashioned rock out to the likes of Led Zep, AC/DC and Pink Floyd."

Got the same email. That's a bit disappointing for the band (and for us that have alrleady paid). I'll be there Saturday.

Cant say Im surprised.. 3 nights!? A bit ambitious. I feel sorry for bands like UM and Moe. as very few of us Brits seem to like that kind of stuff. Still, I dont mind if its not rammed.. more room to move around and hopefully get some photos :-)

The last Moe show at The Garage was very sparsely attended and that was a one-off London appearance.

Scheduling against England v. Uruguay on a Thursday night may not have been the brightest idea.

I've emailed the venue/replied to the email, asking if i'm entitled to a 50% refund, as i'm there for the Fri & Sat shows. I don't expect a positive reply, but it's got to be worth a go. I expect, like the moe. show, for the crowd to be very sparse, swings and roundabouts.

Anybody heard UM's brand new album, Similar Skin ? It's easily the best thing i've heard all year, and is the bands best release to date. Puppet String & Bridgeless....wow!!

Umphrey's McGee, Friday night...wow, just stunning. Two piss poor turnouts, that i felt embarrassed for tge band, but did they put on a performance. Got to agree with Manitou, thats ranks up there as one if the best gigs i've witnessed, quite superb, the covers set was sensational. Saturday night was excellent too, if not quite on Fridays level. Stunningly talented band. On the other hand, some of the worst crowd dancing ive seen!! Hardly any UK'ers there it seemed, full of US folk who are clearly UM devotees...i felt like i'd gate crashed their party.
