How irritating was that obnoxious woman who kept shouting 'Richmond Hills, Georgia!' & yelping like a stuck pig at every available opportunity? Newsflash! No-one gives a flying **** where you're from, especially over here! |

Front row. Couldn't have asked for better seats. I actually phoned the Symphony Hall box office instead of going through the usual channels. ____________________

Unfortunately it's looking like a pretty poor turnout for Warren in London tonight. Still we'll make up for it in enthusiasm! ____________________ Partick Thistle - The world's greatest obsession. |

Well, for me anyway, the best was saved till last. Warren was ace last night in front of a disappointingly half-full Empire. The grooves that the band struck up last night were just right up my street.
Been a great week, thanks to all the folks for the beers and chats over the 3 nights and great to put some more faces to names on the forum. Lets hope it's not another 20 months for a get-together and not 3 in a week, please - the wallet's hurting.
Now, when Warren goes back to Mule, if Ruthie were to join TTB as lead singer.......
Edited to add - Just discovered that it wasn't Ruthie Foster in London it was Alecia Chakour who also has a fine set of pipes. Must learn to listen to band introductions properly!

The show last night was excellent,Warren (the hardest working man in show business) knows how to give good value for money.
As regards any more UK shows I think we will have to wait a couple of years before any tread the boards in blighty but you never know. ____________________ From a time before PC'S |

I was back at The Barbican last night for the Terence Blanchard Quintet then Randy Brecker and Bill Evans with Medeski, Martin & Wood.
I was back in Row G and thought the place was well filled until I realised that, as at the WHB show, the top two levels weren't open.
Trumpeter Blanchard and his band were thrilling with a brilliant young upright bass player and pianist. Absolutely absorbing to listen to five great musicians having a "conversation".
On the other hand, Brecker and Evans with MMW bored me. They were much funkier and free-er and I found Evans' random squawks on tenor and Medeski's electronic keyboard warblings particularly irritating. One band's travel problems meant a 30-minute delay in starting and it was 9.45 before Brecker & Evans took to the stage. Whether it was train times or boredom I don't know, but there was a lot of empty seats by the time they departed just shy of 11.00.

Assuming the whole tour is the same as Liverpool, it's one set, no support.
Some people really are taking the piss. I hope the tour bombs and he will really have something to be miserable about.
