If a London gig is tacked onto the end, I hope it is not Friday 29th October as I am seeing the Doobie Brothers at the Apollo that night ...

I'm jealous and couldn't get good tickets so rather than sit at the back in a corner decided not to bother. Let me know if your companion drops out as I'll have their ticket. I saw the doobies on their last visit and they were vary loud. If I recall they had even more drums than the ABB!

Hi Barry, my tickets are up on the balcony, but row 4 dead centre so reasonably good. Janet is going with me, but she does have a training course that day and cannot get out early so it is all going to be a bit of a rush for us to get up to London. I will suggest that perhaps she might like to let you have her ticket, but the may be expletives involved in the answer as she likes the Doobies a lot ...

In case anyone was planing on going to see Skinny Molly at the 100 Club on Friday, I just found out that it's been canceled. The promoter's site reads:

Fri 15 Oct
SKINNY MOLLY + BARE BONES BOOGIE BAND

Sorry - show cancelled. We received this message from Skinny Molly's agent:

"I regret that due to an unresolved legal problem Mike Estes is to spend the rest of October in prison and has to therefore postpone the impending tour…

"Needless to say that Mike Estes is more than a little upset regarding the situation and extends his deepest apologies for letting everyone down at such short notice."

Nah - wasn't that pished! Bloody iPhone looked as if I hadn't posted it at all - so was surprised by Barry's facebook comment. Talking of whom ........ maybe he's too modest to post this himself (from an email) -

Hey Snakeoil Rattlers Irregulars,

The Rattlers' last show at the Gallery Cafe may have been an acoustic affair but the next show will definitely be a full band electric so I'm happy to announce that The Snakeoil Rattlers will be peddling their swampbilly country wares with a return to The 12 Bar club (12 Bar Club, Denmark Street, London WC2H 8NL http://www.12barclub.com Tel: 020 7240 2622) supporting none other than Buffalo, singer/songwriter Willie Nile on Thursday 21st October.

The evening starts at 7pm and expect the The Rattlers to be on at 7.30pm followed by their good friend Micky Kemp. Admission is only £6 which is bargain price to see one of Bruce Springsteen's personal friends (Willie not the Rattlers, but we all live in hope) so you may want to get your tickets from the 12 Bar in advance.

I hope to see some familiar faces and I'm told you may even be rubbing shoulders with some famous faces too.

That's all for now,

The Snake Oil Man

Would have loved to be there as I had the first two Willie Nile albums on vinyl, way back when.......

Unfortunately, work gets in the way of enjoying myself!

I thought my next post was going to be asking after Janet's health (yes I'm that mercenary) but I've just managed to get a Doobies ticket 3rd row balcony off on the left from HMV tickets. Must have been a return or something.

So in what pub are we meeting and who's coming?

Don't know if anyone else from here is going. Gordon? Jim?

Jan and I will probably be in Hammersmith at about 5-30 or so ... don't know of any decent boozers in that area ... but will need somewhere we can get a bite to eat ...

I won't be up there til 7pm at the earliest so if you find somewhere just send me a text (I think the Trout is the usual meeting pub across the road from the Odeon and next to the tube). I haven't worked in Hammersmith for few years but if you're looking for somewhere to eat, I remember the Ram (http://www.thehammersmithram.com/) had good pub grub and is a few mins walk up Kings Street.

Yep. If you stand lookin at the Apollo , walk down the road to the left - there's an Irish pub down there that's far more homely .

Thanks Dave ... that is where I intend to go ... assuming you mean the "Distillers" in Fulham Palace Road ...

Jan and I will be there at about 6pm and probably stay until about 7-30 when we will go to the Apollo - will drop you a text later Barry ...

Be prepared to wait a while at the bar in the distillers. Here's the timings for tonight. I think I'll be staying in the pube for Lara Johnston's set as she's very pop. She's Tom's daughter.

Doors - 7pm

Lara Johnston - 8 - 8.45pm

Doobie Brothers - 9.15pm

Curfew - 11pm

Off to see Walter Trout in Warrington Parr Hall tonight. Its only 5 mile from were I live, and is quite literally 2 roads from my house. Should be a great night of Blues and booze.
