An off-the-wall question here- has anyone over there been to Spain or Morrocco and has come across a good authentic recipe for Spanish or Morroccan almond cream sauce, or know anyone who would?? Thanks.

Bela and the Flecktones are playing in London at the Barbican on the 15th of November. The very same night I have tickets for Deep Purple in Hammersmith... Doh!

Al - the Barbican show has a 3 pm manitou.....I mean matinee!

It's not just BF & F (the Barbican seemed a little large for them). It's part of the London Jazz Festival so you have Chick Corea, Stanley Clarke & Lenny White too.

I hate getting to/ from the Barbican and Sunday evening shows aren't too good either so Sunday afternoon works for me!

Anyone else (not you Manitou) go to the Sam Hare gig tonight?
Kinda last minute for me but WELL worht it for the duel guitaring with Sam and Simon somebody-or-other
As Manitou said (no small compliment) "best twin guitars heard outside of NYC"!

Quality

Keep an eye out for any future gigs of theirs...I will be.

Glad to hear Sam Hare is back doing this kind of stuff. He's a good singer and a sweet guitar player - last I heard his band had broken up and he was moving into country stuff (or maybe it was singer songwritery type things - I forget - either way it was something different to electric blues...)

As for Oct 24th, Lorna and I might be able to help out with a lift - haven't got tickets yet though - are any still available? I heard it was sold out!

Later!

Jules

Anyone going to see The Band of Heathens at the Borderline on Monday (26th Oct) at The Borderline? When they played earlier on in the year they were great . I think I heard that Jim is going to the Bristol show but I haven't heard any noise about the London show.

I'm also glad to announce that my band The Snakeoil Rattlers have not just one but two gigs coming up in a few weeks time.

The first Snakeoil Rattlers show will be on Saturday 10th October at The Gaff in Holloway (382 Holloway Road, London N7 6PN, Tel: 0207 6071555 http://www.myspace.com/thegaffclub). The closest tube is Holloway on the Piccadilly line. The evening starts 7.30pm and will also feature Penny Black Remedy, Buckshot Soup, and Ten Bears. Admission is 6.

After debuting our new 'electric' sound (think of the good ole Rattlers renegade country clamor with a bit of dirty Johnny Cash electric sounding guitar and you'll have an idea of what I'm on about. Or just ask Jim or Keith, they were both there) in August, The Snakeoil Rattlers will be returning to the scene of the crime with a show at The Betsey Trotwood (56 Farringdon Rd, Clerkenwell, London, EC1R 3BL Tel: 020 7253 4285 www.thebetsey.com) which is just up the road a piece from Farringdon tube, on Tuesday 13th October. It's part of the Snake Mountain Revue (don't you just love that name?) and admission is free but they'll be a voluntary shotgun sanctioned whip round at the end of the night. The show starts a 8pm and expect the Rattlers to be on about 9pm. It's hosted by Harrisburg and also appearing are Howl Griff.

We're currently playing as a three piece (Guitar, Dobro and Bass) as our mandolin player has gone his own way. If anyone is interested in joining the Rattlers on mando or knows someone that might, please drop me a line. BTW they'll have to do it more for love than money as we don't gross as much per show as the ABB. We do play Europe though - well London and it's surrounding areas anyhow. But would be open to play further a field.

Slidejules band Northsyde played Liquid Nation, Ladbroke Grove, last night.
Excellent stuff! A small but perfectly formed crowd watched Northsyde shake the foundatios of the Westway!
Any Euro/Brit peaches in need of a fix of some tasty guitar and bluesy funky rock music should keep an eye out for Northsyde gigs near you!

Yeah, I think I'll be at that show Barry. Been meaning to check out this new (very convenient) venue. Any idea what time the S.R. are playing as I'm not sure how much "renegade country" my visiting from Manchester girlfriend can handle?
Anybody going to see James McMurtry at the Borderline on Monday? I'll be looking forward to this if Ticketweb manage to deliver my ticket by then..........Ticket agencys!! Starting to hate em all!

Saw Dan Baird again last night over here in the Netherlands. Must have seen him at least a dozen times since 1987. Damn, he still delivers!!! And always having lot's of fun. Warner Hodges (from Jason & The Scorchers) is a great addition to Homemade Sin. Maybe only 40 or 50 people in the club but that didn't stop them from playing a high energy swat drenched 130 minutes show.

just got back, really good gig! Not sure why he's come back to the UK.. after playing with Warren Haynes!
Cant see him becoming big over here as he's far too good a musician to appeal to the run of the mill UK music fan.
Will post some of the photos I took on my flickr site

"He is now on the road as Davy Knowles and Back Door Slam, with PK (bass), Steven Barci (drums) and Ty Bailie (keys)."
