Help me to win my endless fears
You've been so faithful for all my years
With one breath You make me new
Your grace covers all I do

I've heard newborn babies wailing like a mourning dove
And old men with broken teeth stranded wihtout love
Do I understand your question then, is it hopleless and forlorn?
"Come in", she said, "I'll give 'ya shelter from the storm."

"One thing I ask of the Lord, this is what I seek:
that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life,
to gasze upon the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple.
For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling;
he will hide me in the shelter of his tabernacle
and set me high upon a rock."

One of the most inspiring things I've found in my life is how God changes me, bit by bit, from the inside out, over the course of time. We go through what we perceive to be difficult times, thinking "Why!?", and then wake up one morning and realize that through this time God has changed us. And then when we slip into our old ways of thinking and being it is so uncomfortable for us that we have to confess the error of our ways, ask forgiveness, and move on to the next thing. These hard times and difficult places really do seem to have a purpose, and that is to mold us into the image of Jesus. I can't make myself that kind of person. But God can, if I just keeping walking day by day in faith and trust.

"For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what he already has? But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently."

Rom. 8:24-25

How unsearchable his judgements, and his paths beyond tracing out!

Or who has been his counselor?
Who has ever given to God, that God should repay him?
For from him and through him and to him are all things.
To him be the glory forever!

2 KING 6

15 When the servant of the man of God got up and went out early the next morning, an army with horses and chariots had surrounded the city. "Oh, my lord, what shall we do?" the servant asked.

16 "Don't be afraid," the prophet answered. "Those who are with us are more than those who are with them."

17 And Elisha prayed, "O LORD, open his eyes so he may see." Then the LORD opened the servant's eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha

I was talking with some friends last night and it reminded me of conversations I used to have with Bobo about seeing each other again in heaven, and how amazing that will be. All the apparent toil, loss, and pain that we experience here wil be burned up and turned into dust, and all that will be left is the good stuff, the good times, the good things. The time we spend here is nothing when compared to what is coming, and by the time we get there I imagine we will try to figure out why we ever bothered worrying about any of this stuff at all.

"Nevertheless, there will be no more gloom for those who were in distress. In the past he humbled the land of Zebulun and the land of Nephtali, but in the future he will honor Galilee of the Gentiles, by the way of the sea, along the Jordan -
The people walking in darkness have seen a great light;
on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned.
You have enlarged the nation, and increased their joy;
they rejoice before you as people rejoice at the harvest,
as men rejoice when dividing the plunder.
For as in the day of Midian's defeat you have shattered
the yoke that burdens them, the bar across their shoulders
and the rod of their oppressor.
Every warrior's boot used in battle and every garment rolled in blood
will be destined for burning, will be fuel for the fire.
For unto us a child is born, to us a son is given,
and the government willl be upon his shoulders.
And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end.
He will reign on David's throne and over the kingdom,
establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness
from that time on and forever.
The zeal of the Almighty Lord will accomplish this."

Is. 9:1-7

Mystery Behind the Damanhur Temples

Hand-Built Maze Hidden in a Mountainside Is Home to a Secret Society

By CHRIS CUOMO, ALBERTO ORSO and IMAEYEN IBANGA
Jan. 31, 2008 —

Hidden away in a country renowned for its architectural beauty lies a massive hand-built place of worship many tourists never see.

An entrance that looks like a mineshaft opens up to a maze carved inside the mountain holding the Damanhur Temples of Humankind in the Valchiusella Valley, about 30 miles north of Turin.

Damanhur narrates the history of human potential through art. With at least nine rooms some with 25-foot high ceilings it looks as if the secret doors and passageways were built centuries ago.

In truth, the unlikely temple is no ancient wonder and was built piecemeal by 150 people over a 15-year period beginning in 1978. The work was so secret, the Italian government never knew it was going on and never gave permission for it.

"We were very good at keeping the secret," Damanhur spokeswoman Esperide Ananas said. "When there was maybe loud work going on we would play records.

"If somebody happened to hear they would think we were just having a party," she said.

The handcrafted structure is full of dramatic beauty, and each apparent dead end really leads into another mysterious hall.

"You have to think that we did that without any engineer or architect," Ananas said. "Everything has been excavated by hand."

The Damanhurians: The People Behind the Temple

At least as mysterious as the temple itself is the utopian society to which it belongs,The Federation of Damanhur. Damanhur, which means city of light, comprises 800 people who live in communal homes.

The spiritual group's writings are in a coded language only they understand and its dances are full of symbolic movements.

Founded in 1975, the Federation of Damanhur thinks of itself as the builders of a new civilization that stands for peace and human potential. It prides itself on being an eco-society based on ethical and spiritual values.

Falco, as the group's founder is known, said that he always dreamed of the elaborate temples.

"I had the idea for the temples when I was 12, 13 years old," he said. "It was important to build them in secret or else we would never have been able to build them. Italian law does not foresee this sort of underground building."

The group wanted the temple to be "a gift to humanity" once it was completed, he said.

Visitors to the halls of the temple have expressed awe, delight and intrigue.

"My first reaction was, 'My goodness. Tiffany's is like kindergarten compared to what's happening here.' Everywhere I looked at Damanhur, the art is just exquisite," visitor Bonnie Cohen said.

Inside the Halls
Falco's vision for the temple was brought to life in several themed rooms, some with 20-foot ceilings. The themes of each of the rooms are connected to the group's spiritual beliefs.

"It is always a spiritual experience when you cross the different halls and spaces," said Damanhurian Gazza Solidago. "I think that they are a dream a dream that is constantly evolving."

The Damanhurians use the various rooms of the temple, which has five floors and reaches about 100 feet down, for rituals of their own creation.

"They can even sleep in the temples if they want to do research on dreaming," Ananas said.

The rooms include:

Blue Temple, the oldest hall, is used for mediation on social matters. It guides the federation as a place of inspiration and reflection.

The Hall of Water is dedicated to water and the feminine principal. It is shaped like a chalice, and with blue as its dominant color, it creates a marine-like atmosphere.

The Hall of the Earth is dedicated to the male principal and the circular room rises in a cone shape toward the ceiling. It also is dedicated to all living things.

The Hall of Metals takes its name the Damanhurian philosophical belief that every age of humankind is related to a metal. The art in this hall tells the story of humanity, including delving into its vices.

The Hall of Mirrors is dedicated to music and the sky.

The Hall of Spheres' ceiling is covered with 24-karat gold leaf, as is the upper portion of its walls. It is considered the heart of the complex.

Finally, the Labyrinth is dedicated to the relationship between humanity and divinity. It covers the deities humans have worshipped over the centuries and uses 16 windows to depict divinities.

What is Damanhur
--------------------------------------------------------------------------- -----

DAMANHUR... a Laboratory for the Future

Damanhur is a collective dream transformed into reality thanks to the creative power of positive thought.

Damanhur is a seed that has been growing for over thirty years, little by little, constantly transforming and renewing itself so as to bring to life the reality its citizens together desired.

From the founders, a mere dozen people, to over a thousand living today in or near the communities, the history of the Federation speaks of a project that has come to life, has grown and today is reaching out on a planet-wide scale as a new peace-bearing people, interweaving sociality, spirituality and respect for the environment, the recovery of ancient traditions and advanced technological research, with its roots deep in the territory and at the same time moving out towards everything happening around the globe.
It is a profound vision of the ideal with its feet well planted on the ground. Thinking of the future with joy is the first step towards the awareness of peace demanded by our times.

Damanhur is a possible answer. Translating ideas into actions and concrete achievements is Damanhur’s commitment towards peace.

The structure and the organisation

Damanhur is based upon diversity and change, which can be applied to anything at all within the community. The social structure and political system have been changed many times over the course of the years, from the first communities to the present federation. The Damanhurian decision making model has evolved, creating an efficient, democratic system with representatives and elected bodies based upon the participation of all the citizens in public debate. All changes to the rules and regulations are ratified in accordance with the Constitution, which has been updated several times, the last version dating from 1998 and which is presently in force but undergoing new revision.

Daily Life

Daily Life is based upon sharing, on exchange with others and on the commitment of everyone to bring alive their own dreams and their shared one.

The social structure and the political system have been changed many times over the course of the years, from the first communities up to the present Federation, giving rise to a democratic system with representatives and elected bodies based upon the active participation of all the citizens in public debate.

All the changes to the rules and regulations are ratified in accordance with the Constitution, which has been updated several times, so that it always reflects the aims of the citizens of Damanhur.

Damnhur offers various possibilities for citizenship according to the level of commitment that each person chooses: from those who live full time within the community to those who are linked to the project of the Federation while still living outside.

The citizens who chose the community formula live in large houses or in houses close to one another where nucleo-families are formed of around thirty or so people.
There are couples, couples with children, single people, young and old people living in the communities and this permits an exchange of experiences among all the different age groups.

Each member has their own personal space to live in and they share with the others the communal areas such as the kitchen and the meeting rooms, the gardens and the territory.

The houses and lands belong to building and agricultural cooperatives of which all the resident Damnahurians are associate members.

According to their own preferences, the Damanhurians live in apartments in the villages of the valley or on farms, in the wood or in rural areas in contact with nature.

Often experiments are carried out in these areas and work is aimed at self sufficiency in food and energy.

Every Damanhurian chooses where and with whom to live, according to their own personal inclinations and their own goals. The children live with their parents while they are small and every citizen feels responsible for their well-being and is involved in looking after them and supporting them.

When they grow up and become adults, after travelling and getting to know people from various parts of the world, they choose what they want to do. For the elderly people, there are structures set up to take care of each person’s needs. Giving attention to the elderly is a point of excellence of the Damanhurian social system, which tends not only to guarantee the very best conditions for an individual, both with their daily well-being and with the assistance that might eventually be needed but above all it tends to value the experience that each elderly person can bring to the others.

No smoking, please! It is forbidden to smoke anywhere on the territory of Damanhur, both indoors and outdoors, as a form of respect for all living forms both physical and subtle. It is also forbidden to use narcotic drugs and make excessive use of alcohol or medicinal drugs.

The Constitution of Damanhur

The Fundamental Principles

Damanhur is a school of thought founded by Oberto Airaudi and inspired by his teachings: it is expressed through four bodies: ‘Meditation’, ‘Game of Life’,‘Social’ and 'Tecnarcato'. They respectively represent ritual tradition; experimentation and dynamics, its social realization and individual inner refinement.

The aims of Damanhur are: the freedom and re-awakening of the Human Being as a divine, spiritual and material principle; the creation of a self-sustaining model of life based on ethical principles of good communal living and love; harmonic integration and co-operation with all the Forces linked to the evolution of Humankind.

The Constitution is the fundamental Charter regulating the Social Body, formed by Damanhur’s citizens.

Damanhurian citizens dedicate their life to the application of the principles and aims indicated in the Constitution, and they make a commitment to respect and apply all its norms. The act of becoming a citizen takes different forms, depending on the choice and commitment of the individual.

The Communities represent the ideal form of union and communal living. They are inspired by the principles of solidarity and sharing. The Communities as a whole are organized as a Federation.

Communities belonging to different schools of thought may affiliate with the Federation, even though they do not originate from Damanhur’s school of thought, as long as they are inspired by the same aims.

Out of the creation of a Tradition, a Culture, a History and Common Ethics, a People is born.

1. Citizens are brothers and sisters who help one another through reciprocal trust, respect, clarity, acceptance, solidarity and continuous inner transformation. Everyone is committed to always giving others the opportunity to aim higher.

2. Each citizen makes a commitment to spread positive and harmonious thoughts and to direct every thought and action towards spiritual growth. Each person is socially and spiritually responsible for every action they take, in the awareness that every act is multiplied and reflected through the Synchronic Lines all over the world.

3. Through community life, Damanhur aims to develop individuals whose reciprocal relations are regulated by Knowledge and Consciousness. The fundamental rules of life are common sense, thinking well of others and the welcoming and exaltation of diversity.

4. Work has spiritual value and is understood as a gift of oneself to others. Through it everyone takes part in the material and spiritual progress of the people, carrying out assignments, as they become necessary. Each citizen offers a proportion of his or her work in activities of common interest. Every task is precious and carries the same dignity.

5. Those who take on roles of social responsibility carry out their tasks in a spirit of service, without looking for personal advantage or serving the private interests of others. Only Citizens residing in the Communities may be elected or nominated for positions of social responsibility.

6. Spirituality, research and ecology inspire all relationships with the environment, through the use of appropriate technologies, useful in improving the quality of life.
Every Citizen lives in communion with nature and the subtle forces which inhabit it. Everyone is committed to respect and preserve resources and avoid as far as possible forms of pollution and waste.

7. Each Citizen respects his or her own body, takes care of it and nourishes it harmoniously, refraining from any form of substance abuse. Citizens put into practice rules of life suitable for harmonious physical, mental and spiritual development; they ensure the orderliness and cleanliness of their environment.

Each individual is expected to be capable of self-control, of making mature choices and of manifesting purity in thought and action.

1. 8. Damanhur promotes and supports research both in science and art; it fosters and encourages continual experimentation of both the physical and the non-physical, as long as it is expressed in a harmonious form. All Citizens constantly improve their education and widen and deepen their knowledge in the fields of research, art, work and leisure activities.
