"For he word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart."

That is so cool. I got baptized when I was 45. My wife and kids and several family members were there. It was an awesome moment that I will cherish forever.

Praise God !!! Very cool.

I got baptized when I was 39. (I'll be 54 May 1st )

Packed house, standing room only. About a dozen young kids were getting baptized the same night as me, as well as one other adult, a woman. The kids went first, then the woman, then me. The kids brought their whole families !!! Had to be 500 people in a room built for 350. Great night, I'll never forget it. (You won't either.. )

My son called last night looking for a scripture, I usually have good recall on this but this one stuck me so I went to the source. He was looking in Jeremiah, man..... I need God to speak to me the way He spoke to Jeremiah..."Ah, Sovereign Lord, I do not know how to speak, I am only a child" The Lord said "Do not say 'I am only a child'. You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you."

And Job, piacere, you mentioned this one the other day. I love Job chapter 38, one of my favorites,. "Brace yourself like a man, I will question you and you shall answer Me"

The point is, and I hope I'm understood here, I'm not in need of soft, comfort, easy,...
I'm in need of strong words, I need to be taken by the shoulders and shaken. I need God to call me a selfish, self absorbed, self centered, impudent little child. And maybe that's why Seth called and asked about that scripture in Jeremiah.

"Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one."

Ephesians 6:14-16

"Then we will no longer be infans, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work"

Ephesians 4:14-16

Thanks, guys. I'm 56. I was baptized as a baby, but I feel maybe it should be a conscious decision. We have a huge church, and it's so generous and so loving. I'll never forget it. If I knew how to do a pic, I'd post one!! We have a knock-out band too..one of the leaders sang Knockin' on Heaven's Door..like Harrison's version. It was perfect!!
Flatirons Community Church in Lafayette CO. The services are on line as well as a class they're having right now..Big Questions about Christianity, in case anyone's interested.

My son did the same thing. He was 19 the second time. A very special time for him too. I rejoice with you!

That is so cool on the baptism stuff. I did it out of a conviction to be obedient, and it was and continues to be such a huge blessing. I remember having to give a short testimony aand breaking down in the middle of it. I was so overwhelmed by God's grace and love. My daughter, who was about 5 at the time, came running up to me and jumped in my arms. For the briefest of moments I was standing in heaven. Thanks for posting your moments. Helps me remember how good God is to us if we let him.

"Becuase of injustice, many people's love will grow cold. But he who endures to the end will be saved."

I believe that in the end the only thing that will remain is God's love. Everything else will be burned up and gone. I wonder how much of myself, full of and part of God's love, will remain?

I never studied Revelation. Read it many times but never delved into it as a Bible study. One of these days....

Jesus was asked, Matthew 22:23-33, about marriage in Heaven and His (Jesus') response was that we'll be like the angels in Heaven. Not sure if this is where you were going with your post. I can't imagine any part of our humaness remains.

Thank God.

I'm thinking whatever parts of me I have totally surrendered to God to be transformed into the likeness of his son will be all that is left of "me." I just hope there's enough left to find.

Sorry to hear that Mark. The family and I are keeping "that yankee guy" in our thoughts and prayers. My daughter asked me if you were the guy who left that message on our answering machine that time "that sounded so funny", and my son still talks about "the other" Patriot fan . I guess you're parrt of the family. We're pulling for you bro.

"sounded so funny"

I was listening to Dr. Charles Stanley this morning. His sermon; being strong and courageous while patiently waiting for God to reveal His plan. He quoted Psalms and David's words of encouragement. The timing of God's plan is perfect.

Sometimes, it just ain't easy but then again, it's not supposed to be easy. When I read about what Paul went through, he and the other Christian brothers forming the early church and compare it to my price for glorifying the sweet name of Jesus and the lightness of my cross compared to theirs, I am truly blessed.

Jesus is the best friend I'll ever have. His words are perfect.
