"See, the Lord is going to lay waste the earth and devastate it; he will ruin its face and scatter its inhabitants -
it will be the same for priests as for people,
for master as for servant,
for mistress as for maid,
for seller as for buyer,
for borrower as for lender,
for debtor as for creditor.
The earth will be completely laid waste
and totally plundered.
The Lord has spoken this word.

Another year has come and gone. Although this one has been much better for me and my family, it seems it has been very hard on many others, and likely to get harder still. All the words, verses, and well wishes in this thread still apply. Life in this world presents us with so many opportunites to not do the right thing, to place the responsibility for our actions on to others, to act in ways other than God acts toward us, that it can be difficult to remember who and what God created us to be and do. The weeds of worry can choke out all joy and love. When I was running one day I had this vision of Jesus riding up besdie me on this beautiful, massive white horse and offering his hand to me, telling me to grab on to him and he would carry me. I looked down, and in my hands were all this stuff; money, bills, family pictures, just stuff. I looked back up at Jesus and he told me to just let go and grab on to him. I did, and he hoisted me up behind him onto the horse and we took off. I looked down, and my body was still running, and laboring, but my spirit was riding with God, happy, joyous, and free. It was exhilirating.

"At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, and many false proiphets will appear and deceive many people. Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved."

Matt. 24:10-13

But now, like a woman in childbirth, I cry out, I gasp and pant.
I will lay waste the mountains and hills and dry up all their vegetation;
I will turn rivers into islands and dry up the pools.
I will lead the blind by ways they have not known,
along unfamiliar paths I will guide them.
I will turn the darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth.
These are the things i will do; I will not forsake them."

Times are getting alot tougher out there for so many of us. Our business is down, and things have basically ground to a halt for my wife in real estat/property management, even here, where we are at least little bit insulated from the economic crisis. But God is directing and providing for us, and we are in better shape than we were a year ago. I believe things will get worse before it gets better. But through all this our family continues to grow closer to one another, and closer to God, and we have been rewarded and blessed in so many ways. This just seems to be so much more important than financial comfort. We often forget that when we believe money is what sustains us rather than God's love and grace. God's plan is always perfect; we just can't always see it because it is so big and our view is so small.

"Create in me a pure heart, O God and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me.
Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit
to sustain me."

Ps. 51:10-12

Hey y'all. I need a favor. After nearly 12 years, the praise and worship service I've played in at my church is being suspended indefinitely. We are about to renovate the facility we have our service in, which is supposed to take 8 or 9 months to complete, but when we thought we would move it to another spot in the church, the powers that be in our church leadership have decided to suspend the program and try to incorporate certain contemporary elements into the 11AM traditional service. I have some heartburn with all of this because it seems every time there is a change in the programs or the services, it comes at the expense of the contemporary worship crowd. Our service launched a new contemporary church a few years back, and as much as I wanted to go with them at the time, I stayed out of loyalty to my current church. We've had a lot of pastoral changes over the last 12 years, leadership changes in the praise team, and more recently, personnel changes within the band. We had just begun to to gel as a team and as a band again, and now the plug has been pulled on us. There has been an "us and them" vibe within the church for a long time now. Once the new contemporary church was launched, it seemed our church didn't give our service the support it had previously. They are asking us to be patient and that we will eventually become one church again. I'm really struggling with what to do. The decision to do all of this came rather quickly and without a good game plan. My gut instincts tell me now is the time to go over to the other church and worship there, because I am sold on contemporary worship style. I like the music, I like the laid back feel, I like wearing blue jeans, I like having a cup of coffee in my hand. I am pretty close to the pastor at the new church (he was our associate pastor at my current church before he was appointed to begin the new church,) as he was with me and my family when my mother passed away. I am ate up with uncertainty right now. If you could say a prayer for God to still my uneasiness and lead me into the right situation, for HIS glory, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

Just read this Dave, will say a prayer for you. I went throught this same exact thing about 3 years ago. Keep prayng about it and God will show you the way. God puts us where he needs us, where he has a job for us to do, and his plan is perfect. We cannot mess it up. Keep your eyes on the prize, and run towards that prize, which is the love of Christ. Everything else will take care of itself.

A guy is talking to God. He says, "God, in heaven, if one thousand years is like a day and one day like a thousand years then it stands to reason that one thousand dollars is like a dollar and one dollar like one thousand...so....can I have a dollar?"

God says, "Wait one day"

A woman dies and is at the pearly gates. St. Peter says, "If you can spell one word, I'll let you in. Spell 'love'" The woman says, " L-O-V-E " St. Peter says, "Fine, enter and welcome"
Some time later, St. Peter has to run an errand so he leaves the woman in charge of the gate. Her husband appears. She asks how his life was and he says, "Great !!! I remarried a younger woman and we traveled and lived on the beach and had a swell time !!"
The woman says, "Well, to enter you'll need to spell just one word". Husband says, "Fine, ok"
Woman says, "Czechoslovakia" (sp. )
