After some major thinking, I'm going to have to say:

Hittin' The Note

With the following in the running:

Eat a Peach
At Fillmore East
Brothers and Sisters
Shades of Two Worlds

Hmmm . . . that's a little tough, but I think I would have to say Where It All Begins

Brothers & Sisters, hands down...

Fillmore East, Eat a Peach, Where it All Begins and Enlightened Rogues follow, in that order...

Eat a Peach, by far! Does anybody (Phil Walden, maybe?) know where the original artwork is? It should be in either the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, or at very least the Georgia Music Hall of Fame.

20 years from now Hittin The Note will be refered to as the famed "National Geographic" CD cover.

I vote it, because it is creative, and makes you ponder the meaning, and the child is a cosmic tie in to the Brothers and Sisters cover.

We've done this one recently...I'm going to stick with Brothers and Sisters, but the explanation is gonna have to stay on the old thread.

Fillmore East, period ... Don't want no hippie artwork or heavy meanings .....

B and S, second .....

1. Eat A Peach......simple, but it's the symbol of the band and it's legacy. CLASSIC!!!

2. at Fillmore East.....a great, classic shot of the original band, plus you have the shot of the crew on the back. How many bands have put that on an album?

3. Hittin' the Note....makes you ponder and think, plus it's like nothing they've done before.

Eat a Peach, without a doubt.
Next. Fillmore, definately a classic. I love how they emulated it in Almost Famous.
Third. Brothers and Sisters. Gives such a feeling of family. Everyone was having kids. The pics give such a loving feeling.
Enlightened Rouges: By far the worst cover, even more than The Road Goes On Forever.

Yeah, EAP, FE, and B&S are great. Love the back of the Fillmore album with the crew and Twiggs on the wall. I don't spend much time looking at cd covers, but in the day, I would scrutinize album covers and read each one completely. Learned lots of good things doing that. Would be looking at records in a record store and see a name I recognised and say, hey they were on so and so's record or they produced that record by so and so and buy it just on name recognition...

Lee is right:

1) Brothers of the Road is king...Camoflogue and big dark shades cannot be topped.

2) Seven Turns is a close second.... You'd have to be crazy to stand off against dudes in acid-washed trench coats!!! Allen Woody scares me in that picture...

I wondered how long it would take before my sanity was questioned. But think about it, can you really look at that album and not at least smile, if not laugh out loud? That hat Butch has on the the glasses and shirt of Gregg's just kills me!

fillmore east...the band, it's gear, the road crew...B&W photos...sweet...

although i like the new recording (the rocking stuff anyway), i see those elephants and...get the urge to write a check to the democratic nat'l committee...

someone on the ABB listserv posted up some stuff about elephants being a symbol of rebirth in chinese mythology...or is that mycology? not a bad cover in itself.

I like hoochiecoochiegirl's explanation. I'd have to go with Hittin' the Note in that case - I just need Oteil and I'll have all 7 on that one.
