Was it only me, or was security lax last night. No patdown at the door, and the isles were packed in the orch. Not complaining, just wondering if anybody else noticed?

has always been this way at the last few years MULE shows---the ABB shows tend to be tighter......for the sake of fans & the security people there(SOME ARE REAL FINE PEOPLE)-----i'd keep this discussion low key..........

The Beacon is really low key, not much of a check the times I've been there. No problems

I don't know what was going on but several times a few individuals were escorted to the lobby or maybe even out of the building by Beacon staff

Enjoy the low key security while it lasts

Once Dolan and the boys get in there the security will be much tighter.

I know that it has always been pretty lax, just seemed more so than usual last night. I agree that once Dolan dumps a ton of cash into the place it will be more like Radio City. Hopefully, by then, the Mule will make the Nokia it's regular spot. Nokia is just the right mix of order and fun, with much better beer selections.

Agree dadof2boys but if you saw what some moron thought was necessary to bring into the show last night you wouldn't believe it . Security handled it like pros and took the three of these guys out of the orchestra during the middle of the second set without to much of a disturbance. I wouldn't be surprised if there was some kind of pat down done when entering tonight.

You have to say what that was, cowbell! A 4-foot water pipe? A still?

The Beacon IS really mellow on security. God bless it. The Oakdale in CT is far too tight.

Gotta agree on super mellow security last night (as is usually the case at the Beacon). Once in a while you get an a**hole, but they know enough to be easy on people just having a good time. I'd say mots of Loge and 1/2 of UB was in the Orchestra for 2nd set. Have a feeling it is going to change with the Dolans on the scene (since they have an uncanny knack of effing up anything they touch). Security in tie and jacket in the coming year? Roped off VIP seating with champagne service?? I hope not!

As far as I know 4-foot water pipes and stills are O.K.to bring into the Beacon .
Think more like something you need a permit to carry.

Headin' out to the show. Happy ,Healthy and Safe New Year to everyone.

I heard the guy say it WAS a water pipe, BUT it extended to 8ft and held his mics for recording the show.
No harm no foul , seems like an honest answer.

I agree about the Oakdale

Here's something I wrote in another thread. Just my 2 cents, but if you read it already, please just click on by.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I don't think the Beacon is going to be the way we would like once MSG comes in, though it may be an opportunity to make it better than it has been. It's a complicated discussion and not one for me right now.
I will say however, there was a large police presence last night. But more troubling was how many people got arrested over the 3 days for just taking a toke off the kind bud. I heard that they were bringing down van loads full of people and they got booked and put into the system.
My first reaction as a NYC resident is to move the show to a kinder venue in a kinder, easily accessible city (Atlanta perhaps?).
I don't care what you say but busting people - normal tax paying, law abiding people for pot is enough for another tea revolt here.
I don't like it and if it was my concert I would say NYC can kiss the money - GOOD BYE.
Think of all the money we bring to the area - the restaurants, the hotels, the subways and the stores - GOOD BYE - just because the men in blue and the Mayor insist on busting the regular Joe for a bit of weed.
I don't like that a lot of my friends have been arrested at this and other music events. It isn't fair because while pot is illegal, it should not remain illegal especially when alcohol is legal and it causes more social harm.
Ban them both or legalize them both. I am sick of my country and city being so hypocritical.
EXACTLY!
I did not experience any trouble at all with security. We didn't do anything stupid, however.
Had no trouble either night doing anything, didn't get a patdown either night - I was actually surprised at how easy the security seemed.
never had a problem with them... last night I was sorta hoping they'd pull out this guy to the left of me, but then during the second set another guy ended up sitting between me and him and they both fell asleep for the majority of the show
