I've been watching a Walter Trout DVD and he and his band are a killer combo. Anybody here ever hear him and his stuff? The best way to describe him is "Strat Slinger." Good songs, good vocals, great backing band.

Yep, very good vocalist, song-writer and guitarist.
Has been touring the Netherlands so frequently the last 12-15 year's or so that i'm under the impression that he practically lives here. Most of his solo cd's were released on a Dutch
label called "provogue" and 2 or 3 live cd's were recorded over here!!
Before he launched his solo career he was a longtime bandmember of both Canned Heat and John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers (many years alongside fellow ace guitarist Coco Montoya).
The only long time bandmember in his current backing band (the Radicals) is the bassplayer (i think he is called Jimmy Trapp or something).
His brand new drummer is something else. A real "Spinal Tap" Seventies Metal / Hardrock drummer with a very theatrical drumkit and performance. Maybe a gifted musician but a
terrible choice for his band and a major distraction.

cheers

ABBDutchFan, I went to Trout's website, and the latest news was Jimmy Trapp had to have major open heart surgery, so he is sidelined for a bit. However, in the DVD I watched, when he introduced the band, he mentioned that, pointing to Trapp, (paraphrasing) "Me and this guy have been playing music together for over 20 years!" I hope Trapp gets better and gets back in the saddle again. He's solid as a rock on bass!

I saw Walter and his band last summer at the Riverfront Blues Festival in Wilmington, De.Great player, high-energy set and band. Got to meet him after the show through a childhood friend of his(S. Jersey native). Seemed like a friendly, down-to-earth guy. Anybody with a chance to check him out should do so.

that's bad news indeed. I saw them about a month ago and he was still in fine form.
I hope he fully recovers and get's back on the road soon.
