I hardly know where to start so let's begin with the Music. As most of you know, Lefty is a recent addition to the "Family Of Bands" here on this site. I've had his CD for a while but this past Saturday was my 1st opportunity to see him live.

What a great show! To "pigeonhole" the band's Music as "Chicago Blues" would be to call the ABB "Southern Rock" - it doesn't begin to tell the story...........I'll start by saying that if you don't have Lefty's CD, get it!! I can't imagine anyone on this board not liking it - a LOT!!

The show Saturday was just great - and looooooooooooooooong too! - Mixing Original tunes with some very cool covers, I felt lucky to be there. Some of the highlights were:

1.) "If I Had My Way." Lefty's whole CD is great; this song is my personal fave.....
2.) A very cool version of The Door's "Roadhouse Blues" with a very cool tease (and then some) of "Love Me Two Times."

Lefty mentioned that his band had been "known to play an Allman Bros. tune or 2," and certainly lived up to the bill there..............My personal faves, in no particular order:

1.) Mountain Jam >> Blue Sky Instrumental >> Mountain Jam.
2.) One Way Out >> Les Brers - with Matt Baranti playing some awesome slide.
3.) Stormy Monday with Matt sitting in.......
4.) IMOER

The best way I can put it is this - Lefty covers the ABB respectfully but is also able to make the tunes his own, which is a very delicate balancing act. Some Musicians "play Music" while others "channel it." Lefty does the latter. On a personal level, you couldn't ask to meet a kinder, gentler and more humble Human Being.

On a personal; level, it was great to meet the Sweeties - Jacquie, TerriB, Boozy and Linnie - it's always good see Big 6 and her husband. It was a special treat to finally meet SistaBluz (Thanks so much!!) - Frank and Donna are such great hosts!

Music truly does bring us all together - I would know none of these people were it not for this site..............................and I am truly richer for the experience.

I saw Lefty Friday night at the HOB in Cleveland... and it too was a spectacular show....

I'll second that CD praise... "Derived From Two Classes" is great... you can get it at HTN.....

Peace

Me and SistaBluz with big ol' I told ya so grins. We saw these boys throw down last fall, glad you guys got in on the treat! Way to go, Lefty.

You know, I've never seen Matt Barranti, or Rusty Barkley, or Big Boss Man, or Lamdog's band, or Barry Richman. I know many of you haven't seen Brent, just now getting to experience Lefty. We gotta' support these guys and others, lest they go back to selling widgets or whatever, hang up their stuff, and great music never played/created. FWIW.

lol! too funny! i wouldnt go that far, but i will say that if you have the chance to see Lefty and his band play, DO IT, and i guarantee that you WILL NOT be sorry. There were times during his show that the music just completely absorbed us and generated a fair bit of ecstasy...as only music played from the heart and soul can. Basking in 'the zone' of the music in Ellwood lifted my soul to new heights that night.....and the view was fantastic!

it was awesome to finally meet Bobo, and for those few hours we finally, (FINALLY) knew the answer to the age-old riddle...WHERE'S BOBO?

god damn i love you people.

So are you the headliner they have yet to announce for the Syracuse BluesFest?

I'll take your picture if you are.

I took Dickey's when he was here.
