fretsman's original rant is a perfect example of why it doesn't make sense to allow yourself to get worked up over politics and political figures. i imagine he was unhappy with Obama, and now he is still unhappy under Trump. liberals were unhappy under Obama because of Fox News and the right's attacks on him, and now Trump supporters are unhappy that democrats make it difficult for him.

unhappy when your guy is in power, and unhappy when he isn't. some folks are just unhappy and choose to play the scapegoat game. it is my hope that people evolve from this in my lifetime.

Well said. I would hear people groan about Obama and claim he was "the worst President" yadayada and they were easy to dismiss because they couldn't express beyond FOX News platitudes as to why they thought so strongly. The script is definitely flipped now, and people who roll their eyes at Trump can't use the same broad CNN strokes that Obama detractors blindly used. Which is difficult when the fog of information, opinion, and continuous discrediting in the face of opposing opinion is exactly what this Administration has itself repeatedly done.

If Trump is our QB, well, at least you could bench Ryan Leaf.

This Jack-ass is a stain on the Dept Of Justice. He needs to be subpoenaed to answer many questions about his handling of this mockery of justice. He needs to answer why he didn't chose a bipartisan group for this so called bipartisan investigation. When did he know that the whole basis was fraudulent. If he knew after a year that it was an empty argument why did he drag it out past the mid term elections? We got the gifts of Rashida Talib and Ilhan Omar being sworn into an American Political office with hands on the Quran a book that promotes killing infidels (such as Americans), raping and enslaving the infidels women and children? Has anyone in the "unbiased" media ever questioned them on Sharia Law and their stances on such violent beliefs? Another rhetorical question.

The collusion was with him and his Democratic cronies to drag it out and paint a negative picture out of an empty art set.

If he was once an honorable American, he lost that honor with this fiasco. I'm sure all of his chosen hacks were in touch with the Democrat's all along and this was a guided undertaking to lead the sheep. Push the safe space trophies for all crowd to put on vag' hats and march the streets. Decriminalize crimes and bring the whole world to America to have free everything while our once great and proud nation turns into a cesspool. Feces and needles will replace the stars and stripes. In a country that now seems to value victimhood over accomplishments we're creating more victims and less drive to succeed. Our national birth rates decline as folks choose a life of foreplay over conventional family.

The same sheep that profess to protect the planet dump trash in the streets and parks as they pour used motor oil down the toilet, they profess peace and tranquility yet cover their faces and attack innocent fellow Americans as they brag that they punched a Nazi? Gender is an empty word. Reality is ignored when it comes to Men and Women, pick a bathroom no problem, Little Suzie is in there, but if it traumatizes her so what? There are so many issues that were once no brainers, but are now issues because of the no brainers. Pollution, crime, and immorality are the new ideals.

Violence and perversion is fed to our youth through movies, games, and media. I watched the movie Kingsmen and it is an action movie tailored for most ages and at the end some Princess of another country says she's give up her "bum" if the guy saves the world? So anal sex is a mainstream promotion? The movie Springbreakers has teenage girls involved in massive drug use, crime, and lesbianism. My kids are 25 and 26 and it was bad when they were preteens and teenagers. Grand Theft Auto Vice City lets kids beat up, shoot up, kill, and run over cops and prostitutes? Is it a wonder there is so much sexual dysfunction or rampant shootings? Moral decay doesn't start or end with the President, it starts in boardrooms and corporate meetings. Family values and faith are frowned upon. Somebody somewhere is building an ark.

Trump is not the perfect man, that in itself is an understatement, but he is the elected President Of The United States during turbulent times. He is fighting for the country in matters that are important. North Korea, Iran, Russia, & China are problems that he is attempting to address. He isn't hosting concerts at the White House once a month, he's engaging in the country's needs not his own.

We need term limits ASAP. It most likely will never happen, but to have a brain dead core of morons leading the country is disheartening. If there's no term limits forthcoming there should be an age limit. Nadler was out of it the other day, He looked like a decrepit Captain Pike from Star Trek, maybe we should prop his dopey little ass in chair and give him lights to answer yes and no. When Diblasio has to save the day when you're in la la land and then stating it was a dehydration issue is the cover up. Put that fool out to pasture. You want to become a millionaire in America? Go to a coastal liberal state and run for Democratic office. Nancy, Chuck, Schiff, Cumnmings, Green, and the rest should be out of Government, for the sake of the Country.

Mueller is just a tool. He was never looking to be fair and just. His choices and deeds make that abundantly clear. May Karma chew up and spit out his filthy little soul. Just a cog in the wheel that is ruining a once level headed, proud, and just nation.

We need voter ID's in this country. Everyone has sources of income, electric bills, phones, cars, licenses, and so many other identifiers of exactly who we are as Americans. If you want to end the corruption of our voting process that's the only way. Far too many shenanigans are going on. Ballots are being filled in by God knows who, That's what is unamerican and the true threat to true democracy.

Egad you are ignorant.

It seems there has been more fraud related to voting by mail than at the actual polls

Proof?

Just look at the North Carolina 9th District race and you will find all the proof you need. On the other hand, where is your proof of widespread voter fraud at the polls that voter ID can solve? I've never seen any. By the way, I'm not actually against voter ID at the polls, but I still think it is a solution to a problem that doesn't exist.

But as for voting by mail, they verify the ballot based on the signature, which is exactly what they do when you sign for a ballot at the polls. No difference. So why can you receive a ballot and return it in the mail without showing an Id?

My "proof" comes from the time when I lived in California. I could walk into my polling place and point to my name and then sign and vote. One year, out of curiosity after voting in my designated poll, I was driving down the road in a bordering neighborhood and noticed an American Flag near a church that signaled another poll was located inside, I parked, went in an informed them that I had left my I.D. at home and asked if I could just sign by name. I was told "No problem, yes" and could easily have voted again merely by reading a name upside down and adding a signature that was not me beside it....

Signatures are checked at the elections office. Obtaining a ballot doesn't mean it was counted any more than fraudulently obtained ballot by mail and sending it in. Again, ballots by mail can be stolen from mailboxes, requested for absentee voting by someone else, filled out by someone else in the household without their knowledge, etc. How is voter ID going to fix this?

i'm very sorry to read this. i'm not trying to preach but i'd bet this has a lot to do with the conflict you describe with your own children and probably is the root of the frustrations of your original post. i beg of you to stop blaming society and politics and figure out why you feel the way you do about the world and yourself - it's the only way to find peace. i would know from personal experience.

Your concern is nice but the frustrations in his original post seem pretty focused on Bob Mueller & the wacky left and he is spot on accurate. The truth is going to come out and there are a lot of people that are not going to be able to resolve their opinions & statements with the facts.

Yes, they ALL LIE. The media is the worst. If Trump came out and 3 simple statements CNN (and others) would report that he told 5 lies.

You can be bothered by society without blaming it for your problems. I read the post and did not get the impression he was blaming anyone for his problems. Venting about things that are important to him, you bet, and more power to him. It is OK to disagree.

As for the truth coming out. I see the same news as everyone else. But a lot of people seem as if they are threatened by the latest news of "investigating the investigators". If the truth is what we all want then what is the problem?

Obviously people on both sides of the political spectrum have their own bias. I'm most speaking to the views voiced at the start of this thread. I think the amount of misinformation coming from this President is negligent.

So, Russians could vote freely without I.D.?

Speaking of. Did this happen? Because actual US citizens who are registered voters have been turned away in states with strict voting ID laws. That's an actual problem. Should we stop unlikely hypothetical Tom Clancy situations (do you think Russians would waster their energy going to polls when they can disrupt by hacking?) or actual real life voting issues? Also, it's not like you didn't have to prove who you were when you went to the polls (you could use an electric bill!), you just didn't need to take the extra extra step of getting another ID every time you moved to a new precinct.

Sorry PorkChopBob, but there ARE certain reasons why someone can be turned away at the polls. Wrong voting location, have not voted in a long time (In Ga. it takes 7 years to remove a non-voter.), moved and haven't registered at your new address, registered-but address can not be verified (a provisional ballot is issued and the voter has several days to correct any mistakes on the registration, if the correction is not made, the vote is turned down.) Felon on parole, non-citizen (legal alien who has not completed citizenship).

To everybody, don't try to bring up the "Kemp purged 307,000 voters" because unlike the majority of news outlets that reported that, the Atlanta Journal Constitution had in their article about how the ones on the PENDING LIST, Kemp declared all on the list were pending, not purged, would be allowed to cast provisional ballots (see above about provisional ballots).

Haha, seriously, Jerry? Sorry but I never said that there aren't reasons people are turned away at the polls. You're talking about people who can't vote or are at the wrong place which is not what I was referring to and not at all the issue. I'm talking about registered voters turned away on small bureaucratic technicalities or overzealous ID laws. You're at the wrong proverbial polling station on this one, read it twice.

I'm not really for or against it. In theory you could say I'm for it. It seems reasonable to ask for an ID to vote. But in reality, it seems to try to solve a problem that doesn't exist. Voter fraud seems to more likely happen with mail in ballots than those showing up at the polls. If we want to solve the problem of voter fraud, I think it is more important to solve issues of fraud that actually happened in the real world, such as what happened in North Carolina. What happened there was clearly fraud that affected an election, and it had nothing to do with voter ID.

Look alright KC calling me sweetheart doesn't offend me but doing it to belittle me does. The ACA is an example I would concede to as that was repeated by him on multiple occasions however it still would be the equivalent of 2 days of Trump lies. I have worked in the insurance industry for over 30 years so what I can say is that the majority of policies have never let you pick you own doctor, you pick the doctor that has signed a contract with them. You may decide you like Dr whoever and if they do not have a contract with Aetna, Cigna or whoever your provider actually is then you can't pick them. Who is your health care provider? Most people who want to have this conversation never want to disclose who their provider was that discontinued coverage.

Again during the Bush administration my employer stopped contributing to our plan and my premium was 850.00 a month for two people back during the Bush financial crash. There were literally no jobs available to move to, to get a better deal. Within a year of Obama taking office the job market started to open up and I moved to another company with better benefits and have been with them ever since. My situation has not changed, every year my insurance goes up 10 to 20 bucks a pay. I get a raise and a bonus every year because I work my ass off. I get three percent additional salary that goes right into my 401K. So nothing really has changed other than the tax break I got was gobbled up on the back end. So I am paying a lot more in taxes under Trump which does seem to be the case for a lot of average families.

So if you look at this from a personal stand point I was working 4 jobs during the Bush administration 7 years to be exact. And within two years of the Obama administration I was back to one job. I get that this is different for everyone, however for most people who have jobs that provide health care coverage within the last 20 years or so you can pick from a list of Doctor's that are on their list which is quite different then being able to pick your own Dr.

I actually know very few people other than the top executives that actually have what is know as Cadillac coverage.

What do you consider "overzealous ID laws"? If you are registered, show your ID, you get to vote.
You wouldn't have to get a new ID if you move to a different precinct since it would be a state ID (DL or state issued ID card), unlike when you get a new voter card if you move. A national voter ID is NOT NEEDED as far as I'm concerned.
How hard is it to get a state ID or drivers' license? You get them both through the DMV (at least here in GA.).
Military ID is good. Several other types of ID are good.
If you don't have the appropriate ID, ask to cast a provisional ballot, or request an absentee ballot.
A "small bureaucratic technicality", again if it's a problem of data on the voter registration, ask for a provisional ballot.
Don't let your right to vote get waylaid by not following the rules.

Myself, I think the ultimate voter ID would be a thumbprint placed on a consecutive numbered paper ballot and get rid of the electronic voting machines.

I posted several links (and a first hand account) previously in this thread regarding red tape in some states that makes it difficult for some voters to meet the newly required standards. I won't repeat, but they are stories of Seniors who no longer drive, or people who recently moved to a new state, required to get a birth certificate from their birth state, etc - it's unnecessary overkill.

Voting in some small precincts can be a mess, I would love a national standard - the spectre of "hanging chads" still haunts the process. Signatures are a poor standard, election officials aren't hand-writing experts (and they are definitely not thumbprint analysts). When I first voted decades ago I brought a utility bill - easy. When you register, you already get a voting registration card by mail. That should be enough because not everyone drives (and DMVs can be a day-long trip), it's not a standard and residency can be established faster than obtaining a new ID. We should be finding ways to make voting easier not adding another burden of proof in an effort to curb a crime that almost never happens and is already easily prevented.

If anything, Robert Mueller has proven to be the most sane, centered, and responsible public servant involved in government since the 2016 election. Thank you Mr. Mueller for a job well done.

What a dipsh#t thing to say?

I'm a happy, vibrant, young at heart, big goofball who is the 1st to laugh at himself and damn sure will laugh at others if buffoonery is on full display and it is. I listen to tunes unless I'm scanning for traffic tie-ups getting into the city (1010 on the 1's, 1130 on the 3's, and 880 on the 8's) I even limit that.

Fox News is fair (52% anti Trump), but I can't watch it on most days. In their effort to be fair and balanced they force feed you dopes like Juan Williams, Jessica Tarlov, Marie Barf, and others. All parroted commentary. They have a massive messaging system because it's just too prevalent with their little catch phrases across all channels.

I love Greg Gutfeld. I used to love Red Eye with Tom Shillue. News and comedy is the preferred means. Hannity can pound misleading points like the Dem's want to enact 70% taxes on everybody when it's just for monies made after $10 million. I like One America News and BBC, Newsmax can be cool with the old reel footage. One America talks about old historic events and constitutional policies. It's pretty sweet. I love my Man Charles Payne on Fox Business News.

If you have 1/2 a brain and desire to weed through the talking points on both sides you can see what is really going on and it's appalling. It's sad some folks are falling prey to some establishment rhetoric and gamesmanship. If the current administration has had any good actions in the last 2 1/2 years there's stories released to counter the positive narrative. The Dem's whole plot is effective and unending. Colleges give out A's and multiple days off to anyone willing to attend any rally that they want to push. At 16 years old don't lock yourself into a gender, but we want to lower the voting age to 16 so you can vote Democrat.

Again I'm an Independent. I seek logic in all issues. Our Country has massive debt, We need to curb our spending. We have homeless issues in this Country, but our laws entice massive migration with promises of free healthcare, free college, free legal services, free everything. It's magnetic clamoring. I'm just Joe Schmo who had to borrow 200K to help my kids. I am not rich, I get by, but my FAFSA info stated that my kids could borrow 20% of the college costs and the other 80% was called the "Expected Family Contribution" and they'd loan that "EFC" to me at double the present loan interest rates? How American is that? If colleges become "free" and Gov' subsidized the costs would be even more rampant. The current plan is everyone who gets here can just be claimed as dependents no matter if you want to support them or not.

A poem added to the Statue Of Liberty says "Give us your poor and huddled masses", Did the poem writer ever check with my accountant or the Treasury Dept? Did they mention a sane cap on the number of huddled masses. I've been paying into Social Security for 40 years and was told I'd get some back for when I needed it most when I got older.

Abortions should be legal with a thoughtful time frame. 5 months? If she can't afford to mother a child and it's a fly by night dead beat dad issue. The Government shouldn't choose that woman's life path.

I feel every issue can be viewed with reason, logic, empathy, and some mild math skills and decided properly with ease. Our system of Government is failing us all. Our free press is cashing in on an asinine narrative. Big rational decisions need to be contributed to and supported for the Country's sake.

If you choose to rub out a squid watching Chris Tapper, Don Lemon, & Rachel Maddow it is you my Friend is the old misinformed color irrelevant guy.

I read 2 of those links, NY Times wants me to create an account that I don't want.
Those articles go into expired DL, out of state DL, expired student ID, no ID, improper ID. One question is how did the navy guy remember to register to vote, but couldn't find time to get his DL when he moved to another state. Did he get a new tag when he moved to the new state? Hope he doesn't get pulled over since you have to get new tag and license when you move to a new state.
I don't know about where the lady that gave up her license lived, but in Ga. you can get your license renewed, or change over to a state ID through the mail.
Again, if you are told you cannot vote due to ID problems, ask to cast a provisional ballot. Did the poll workers offer them that option?
