People want to associate it with Columbine, because it was near there, but this just seemed like a personal thing between 1 guy who wanted to have transgender surgery going from female to male and reportedly he was bullied about it.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7008381/Classmates-reveal-second-D enver-gunman-transgender-didnt-support-needed.html

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/colorado-shooting-stem-sc hool-highlands-ranch-denver-victims-devon-erickson-a8904076.html

Why do people think it is okay to take their aggression out on their classmates?

The worst part is for all sorts of reasons, murders and shootings like these have become a "and the beat goes on" attitude.

Lots of ^&%$# people out there that feel they have to resort to violence. May the perpetrators realize and suffer the justice they deserve.

The more it happens the more other people on the edge are compelled to do it too. Not sure if they have said that "F*ck society" car was one of the shooters cars or not or if they are just saying "linked to"? Our society is indeed crumbling. We are dying as a nation. A school shooting, a church shooting, at work, hate crimes, race, religion. Fortunately there are more good people than bad, but the bad people so painfully and recklessly inflict their violent visions on the rest of us that it makes one wonder where we are going to end up.

Lots more dead people, less people caring.

It is to get people desensitized to violence and people being murdered but it is also to get people to agree to get guns out of everybody's hands, to disarm a nation. People cannot be subjugated if the public is armed.

"It is to get people" "it is also to get people"

Wait, that almost sounds like you think mass shooting events are orchestrated in order to achieve some goal of disarming or purposefully planned with frequency to desensitize. That is messed up.

Not "almost sounds like". That is exactly what he is saying - standard issue paranoid line, one of Alex Jones' go-to themes. And yes, more than messed up. Really twisted.

We know that the events occur, you have to look at who is behind them, and why. In some of the news coverage in some events there were some of the SAME people there, one of the places was Sandy Hook. Did Sandy Hook happen, YES, it was not a media lie. But how the media managed to videotape and interview some of the same people from another event shows that there are other things going on. Alex Jones did a big thing on this, which is why he said he did not believe the attack happened and he called it a false flag attack. I think the media gets used and/or is complicit in what they report and how they report it to influence/sway people a certain way.

People should look at WHY are all these things happening now at this point in time, doesn't it seem a little strange that in the last few years there have been all these mass shootings. WHY? Is there a bumper crop of dysfunctional people out there?

Nebish do you think it is all just happenstance that all these school shootings happen in just the last couple of years of so? There has to be a reason.

Reasons: Off the top - Easy access to weapons. Psych med overprescription. Isolation and poor social development from computer overuse, sugar overdose . . . that's all just for starters, basically a very f*cked up society.

Lots of reasons, plenty of rational causes to consider before leaping to more dazzling conclusions that fuel our fear/paranoia adrenaline addiction.

Then it follows that measures need to be put in place to prevent "poor parenting." Not forcing women to have unwanted children is a good place to start.

Bullying, isolationist behavior by other kids, taunts, peer pressure, and hormonal swings can help push someone with mental health problems (major or minor) over the edge.

Also, notice how the knee jerks jump on about "gun control' so quick that sometimes it's before the national news has it reported.

Remember the one where a senator started tweeting about needing to "get those guns out of the hands of civilians" and tried to get rid of it when he was immediately told, "but this guy used a knife". Unfortunately, it was already out in the interwebs.

Sure, maybe on the news, which I dont watch. Around here on WP it is usually the gun-rights folks who jump in and turn mass murder shooting threads into second amendment arguments, every time, way louder than any gun control noise. Way.

Look at this thread, standard pattern here: starts off reporting event, then a few posts reply about society and so on, then the OP gets to their paranoid point about how its all a setup for gun seizure, which was the reason the thread was started. Then the next mention of gun control is about how all the gun control people jump the gun when these killings occur.

Every blessed time. Like clockwork. Gun rights the focus, not the massacre.

Why are there so many massacres? Is somebody trying to orchestrate control and establish order (their own idea of order) out of chaos?

Cory booker wants to disarm the entire country. If that happens, people will be taken over by whomever is in control and put under their authority. Democracy, No More. Rights? No More.

I don't think it is coincidence that all these shootings are just happening. It is too often.

I think about this alot. And I share some beliefs as BigV, there is bad parenting out there - ask any school teacher they have lots of stories about parents that don't care. And Jerry hit on many things as well.

Then you have to consider the violent society in which we live. These real life shootings, plus the entertainment culture that has shown that if you don't like someone, well you can just shoot them. That is what people do in our TV shows and our movies and music and video games. So you have all these troubled people and you have a history of them likely being exposed to violence from a very young age and these people turn to violence to carry out whatever plan they conjure up.

And it is also about firearms. That can't and should not be ignored as some would like to do. But, the Colorado shooting this thread focused and the UNCC shooting were done with handguns. So the whole assault weapon narrative would have no impact on these incidents.

Wow. Posted about how such a "coincidence" it is that gun control freaks seem to be sitting on Twitter/Facebook/e-mail waiting for an event to happen, almost like they knew it was going to happen and post before the national news puts it out. Think about that for a moment and see if you can come up with a rational explanation of why that happens.
Do these folks sit on social media, waiting for a shooting to occur, thumbs poised ready to post? Or do they know it's going to happen?
No conspiracy theory, just asking questions.

Look, I didn't make it up, Im not attacking, just pointing out the obvious. Every single shooting thread turns into a 2nd Amendment defense fest. Every last shooting thread. Dont blame me, its not an insult, whatever, knock yourselves out, go ahead defend away, but dont get the idea a bunch of gun control folks are on the offensive here because they aren't.

It is the same thing on this thread, its all about guns now, courtesy of gun-rights advocates. Not one post suggesting guns be taken away from citizens. So fact is the gun rights crowd is just as loud and kneejerk as the gun control crowd.

The gun control camp "posting before it hits the news" sounds like total Alex Jones style bs to me. I dont have the stomach to sort thru a whole Alex Jones video for that, I haven't listened to a word he said since Sandy Hook. That was just wrong. I once lent him a discerning ear before that, but he lost me there big time.

What makes sense is what you said about people waiting around to jump on twitter and such - that is exactly what all media agents have always done, seize the moment to spin for their agenda. Pro propaganda does look spooky, but man they aren't staging these school things.

I guess what bugs me is how some constructive ideas come up then always take a back seat to the gunrights vs. guncontrol theme.

I would rather discuss realities like poor parenting, or whatever, rather than entertain dystopian science fiction scenarios of sinister forces. It is just lame and does nothing but create fear and paranoia.

One of the things that jumped out at me from the articles posted (I noticed both were from UK sources), is that the school has a record of bullying and abuse, and students say that the school admin does little or nothing to stop it.
Students repeatedly posted that the transgender girl, who identifies as a boy, needed help but couldn't get "the support he needed" and described him as a "tortured soul". Many twitter posts talked about how Alec had mental health issues and wasn't getting help with his issues.
Alec is actually Maya McKinney and some twitter posts state the Alec is a boy, not a girl.

Devon Erickson, the other shooter, had recently posted how he was assaulted on campus and a fellow student had video of the attack. He said that the Dean of Students made them delete the video, accused him of bullying the other student, and suspended him for half a day.

Sounds like if the school admins had given a little support, maybe reported campus violence to the authorities, cracked down on bad behavior, this would not have happened.

School really sucks. I hated it. Back in the 70s we just fled to the woods and got stoned and prayed for a decent rock group to save us on Saturday night. Nowadays it is like prison, no wonder the outsider kids are going ballistic.

In the early 70's WE carried guns to school here in Macon.
