This is incredibly dismissive of a smart, well-spoken young woman. It is an accurate description of our President, however.

Funny how the right wIngers like to complain when liberals from Hollywood have an opinion, yet those same people are quick to share an open letter by Charlie Daniels or Ted Nugent right here on this forum. They might have even applauded Clint Eastwood talking to an empty chair pretending it was Obama. And certainly some made a big deal about a Kardasian meeting with Trump to talk about some issue or another, or Kanye West or Dennis Rodman expressing their love of Trump while wearing a red hat.

So in reference to the statement above, I doubt this is the case.
So you respect the intellect of the orange blob of blubber who speaks like a lying, spoiled 10 year old, over somebody who can easily take him to school on many levels?.

Is that it, or is it that her views run contrary to yours? I've listened to her speak, and there is enough substance in what she says. Compared to Trump, who you don't seem to have a problem with, she does not speak at the surface level of issues. What is your opinion of the depth of Trump's understanding of detail?

So, a former waitress is now a climate change expert?

Yes! And this "Genius" has stated the world is going to end in 12 years!

And here is where she got that -

Her comments are in reference to a United Nations-backed climate report, published late last year, that determined the effects of climate change to be irreversible and unavoidable if carbon emissions are not reined in over the next 12 years.

It’s a reasonable take if you’re aware of the 12-year mark outlined in the 2018 UN “Special Report on Global warming of 1.5ºC,” released in October. It mentions the year 2030 — 12 years from now — as the point of no return, if we keep on our current path. It’s mentioned 35 times in the report in varying applications.

According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, we only have a time frame of a dozen years to keep global warming at a maximum of 1.5 degrees Celsius (2.7 degrees Fahrenheit) over preindustrial levels.

Limiting global warming to 1.5 compared with 2 will reduce the impacts we’re likely to see on ecosystems and human health. According to the UN:

“The report finds that limiting global warming to 1.5ºC would require ‘rapid and far-reaching’ transitions in land, energy, industry, buildings, transport, and cities. Global net human-caused emissions of carbon dioxide, would need to fall by about 45 percent from 2010 levels by 2030, reaching ‘net zero’ around 2050.”

I am sure you will not be happy with the details. Arent you a mechanic? You had better learn to work on electric cars. AOC and the green party want to do away with the internal combustion engine thru severe restrictions on fossil fuels and hydrocarbon limits.

Hell, more than applaud! They elected a movie star in 1980 and a reality TV star in 2016! They would probably elect Ted Nugent.

I think there are some really unrealistic and objectionable ideas in the proposal, but I don't reject it off-hand.

I may own an EV someday. I can say that I will not own an autonomous vehicle, but could maybe, someday buy an EV. Ofcourse I have every intention of keeping all my old Jeeps until the day I die and hope that fuel will always be available for them. Working on an EV isn't necessarily any different than conventional vehicles once you are familiar. There are so many electronics on modern combustion engine vehicles that you can't hardly do anything without an array of scanners and computer plug-in devices to communicate with the car now.

And I don't have any problem going to more renewable energy sources, BUT, the means of producing the solar power and the wind and whatever else, those things MUST be made here to maximize the economic effect.

But I love the affordability and dependability of fossil fuels - I think those need to play a role in our energy portfolio for keeping prices down and for exporting. I am not in fear of dying from climate change. At the same time that does not mean I am not open to some of the ideas AOC or other Green New Deal advocates put forth. Clearly there are things I would never sign onto, but if people can open their minds a little bit then there are things that regular common people should be able to agree on...without corporate interests or fossil and green special lobbying groups pulling the strings. If anyone says "my way or the highway" then all we will get is fighting.

Probably the hardest thing I have picturing is how industrial equipment that uses diesel fuel would transition. The commuting public, going to work, going on vacation, going to a concert, I can actually picture how some of that could be vastly different 10-20 years from now. But the earth moving machines, the heavy trucks that haul, the ships, the planes...those things I can't see evolving all that much.

More than eliminating the combustion engine, I would be most concerned that environmental activists would close more public lands to motorized recreation. I can take an EV of some sort into our National Forests and BLM lands...as long as they are open. Closing and restricting access to me is more of a threat than ceasing production of the good old 2 and 4 stroke engines. That is a never-ending fight as well. Public lands for public use to include motorized recreation!!

Try "Name a female you like". It would interesting to hear folks' answers.

This question deserves its own thread. It would be a short thread tho - direct questions that cut to the point and spotlight motive don't get answered around here.

Exactly. This is a discussion forum, therefore those who don’t answer direct questions are clearly here to troll. The post and run folks are cowards - it should be easy to respond to a question, having all the time you need to craft a response.

All are qualified by virtue of their records and ethics, perhaps some of the women in Congress and the Senate could learn a thing or two from these distinguished and accomplished souls.

Absolutely no condescension intended...And based on the sarcasm from preceding posts I mistakenly took that as a sincere inquiry.

My most humble apology.
