Federal Agents confiscated a record amount of Fentanyl and Methamphetamine at a regular, legal border crossing in Nogales, AZ. Sorry Trumpsters, no wall was involved in the bust, just a dog with a very keen nose!!!!!!...........Peace.........joe

"why can't everybody just leave everybody else alone?"

Disclaimer: No this is not an endorsement for anything. I just think the whole war on drugs is one crock of crap. I do not think people should be living on methamphetamine or committing crimes to get Fentanyl but I don't think the govt. should be controlling what should be between a patient and their Doctor either. The Doctor needs to have his own wits about him, and be responsible for his patient. No person just wakes up one day and says, gee I have nothing better to do, think I'll become a meth head today. It starts someplace else. As to the Fentanyl, people need adequate PAIN MANAGEMENT. They are not getting it. We need more Pain Management Doctors trained and working to deal with long term pain that people have after accidents or illnesses or miserable pain inflicting surgeries. Why doesn't it happen? Many of the Pain Management Specialists are trained in Anesthesia and that has a VERY HIGH malpractice premium, so here in the US nobody goes into that. Regular Doctors don't want to appear intellectually impotent or be thought of as callous and uncaring to their patients recurring pain, so all they can do is pass on meds to help suffering patients without solving their problem. They provide symptomatic relief which is all they can do. Who is to blame? The Medical Societys? the Medical Schools, the Insurance Companies who limit how often you can see the Doctor? ALL OF THEM.

The are all complicit in the problem. Do they care? No they sleep just fine at night.

The part you are assuming Gina is that everyone acts responsibly and in the best interest of others not just themselves. We know this not to be the case. And on your blame list, you don't have the drug manufacturers listed, surely they need blame as well.

You are right. The drug manufacturers could do something like take out the euphoria feeling component and just leave the pain relief component in the drug, but then people would not become addicted, they would just manage their pain. Additionally if they made the drug so that the same dose had the same effect when used long term, addiction would not happen.

They caused a lot of pain, suffering and death, but likely will not spend 1 day behind bars.

Pops there still has to be some responsibility from the Doctors or maybe the pharmacists to educate people on how to use their medications, including how to safely cut them back when they need to taper them down after post surgical use. People also need to know if they are in really bad pain, how to get better coverage from their meds without just taking full doses. That's why people overdose or get respiratory depression and die in their sleep.

It is not enough for the pharmacist to just put on the label 1-2 every 4 hrs. for pain. What if that doesn't cut it for someone's pain? They are left to their own devices to figure out what to do, usually they just take more and don't wait for 4 hours. Better education is required.

You talk out of your butt, about things you know nothing about. Always. The synthetic opiates are highly addictive poison and left a lot of people dead over the past 20 plus years. Better education?

Through a legal point of entry. A wall would have done NOTHING to change this. There was no crossing in the middle of the desert, no left turns, no tunnels, no nothing. A wall would have made zero difference in this case. The drugs were coming through a regular point of entery...just like most of them do.
