Figured I'd start a fresh NBA thread for this season since it's starting to take shape.

The Bucks are in first place. I grew up on the underrated 1980s Bucks squads, they were always solid just never had the Bird or Magic to get past the top teams. Other than the 2000 squad that almost went to the finals (and was quickly broken up by George Karl) there hasn't been much to enjoy about the Bucks until the Greek Freak arrived. This is a damn fun team to watch.

On the other side of the river, the Nuggets are tearing it up alongside OKC and GS. In Houston, Harden is having another amazing season on a merely ok team, still looking up in the standings - just had an epic barn burner against GS, rallying from 20 down in GS no less.

LeBron's Lakers have definitely made a leap while the Cavs have dropped like a dead weight without him - no surprise.

Kinda gloomy for a Bulls fan, so the things I look at with the NBA right now, root for LeBron, root against GS, kinda just casually follow the playoff bound teams, Gonna have to try and watch a couple Bucks games........Peace.....joe

Trade activity is ramping up, to put it mildly --
Both LeBron & Rajon had near triple doubles last night -- still think they'll get going & them & GSW in conf finals --
we still haven't caught Phila -- they beat GSW last night --
also, a good win for your Bucks team over Tor -- still staying with Celts-Bucks conf final

No one wants to see Kyrie go anywhere -- Danny would have to look pretty closely at a Kyrie-for-AD deal if it came up I suppose
Let's go Celts

It’ll be interesting to watch the Lakers evolve...or not evolve. I thought it was incredibly risky of LeBron to choose L.A. If he gets this team to the finals in the next 2 seasons, it’ll be one of the greatest feats in NBA history.

Will the Sixers have an asterisk next to their name if they win it for tanking to get the picks and assets? I just hope people direct the “tanking” comments to the front office, and not the players and coaches, because those guys demonstrated the highest level of professionalism and character throughout “the process”. Speaking of which, Embiid might be my favorite player to watch since Jordan. I’ve missed the old-school dominant big man position - Malone, Kareem, Hakeem, Ewing.

I live in the Indy area and glad the Pacers are holding on for now. They are good but not sure they could win a 7 game series against the upper brass in the East without Vic.

Just curious what the feeling is in Boston with Kyrie . Seems to be alot of drama there.

Celts completely blown out and befuddled in Toronto tonight.........what's going on Stephen? This is not the Celtics team that I picked at the beginning of the year to go to the Championship series. The East has gotten much much stronger with four really good teams but right now I'm not sure Boston is one of them: Philly, Toronto, Milwaukee and Indiana.

Gotta say Houston is looking a bit scary right now. They gave the Warriors a real good thumping last Saturday night and they did it in Oakland with Harden on the sidelines. That was the third time this year they have beaten the Warriors. Not sure what that means come playoff time but if the two teams meet it could really be a classic.

Yep 58 points for Harden last night -- Rockets could go off -- Portland recently acquired Enes Kanter & a real twin tower tandem for them now w/Jusuf
Good One last night w/Jazz-Nugs -- both those teams also could go off -- IT helping in spots for Denver, C's fans love you bro

But wish I knew about C's Rob -- we slip into some sort of void every so often -- we'd beaten top teams, but also lost to lower teams too, prior to this complete 4-game blackout/vanishing.....
again, IMO C's have become a little too rigid as far as the rotation -- would still like to see the complete roster of players getting on the floor, depth is a strength of our team

still no reason to panic
(HEELLPPP!!!!)
Washington tonite, let's go boys, still plenty of time

The Lakers, clinging to playoff hopes and desperately in need of a win, lost in Phoenix last night. The Suns at 13-51 are owners of the worst record in the NBA. I have to think this is the final nail in Luke Walton's Lakers coffin. Really doubt he will be around more than one week after the season ends.

Once again, simply not there yesterday

still have faith that we can get out of this funk -- the boos however were well deserved yesterday, we gave them no game at all & dangit, it doesn't look like the fires that need to be lit under peoples' butts, are going to be

We need a new plan -- we should've been more flexible all long -- am not knocking coach S, have always touted our depth

The thing is, when we lose, we look completely lost out there -- it's like we're playing in doubt a lot, overthinking -- it's a major mystery

Their original Ft. Wayne mascot, Big Z, has returned , & suddenly, Andre Drummond, Blake Griffin & the Pistons (W8 or so) are cheering up a bleak MC winter -- (wattan OT win last nite over Tor)

Well, we need Mr. Lucky to start doing his thing too -- we visit GSW tmrw & Who Knows -- the same team that looked Bad losing to da lowly Bulls last week

........could look like world beaters against titlists tmrw -- let's put in our bench people who've been champing at the bit & deserve the chance -- Let's go Celts

50+ years as a Celtics fan and this might simply be the most confounding team in all that time. I am off the Kyrie train that is for sure.

Nice win Stephen. We will see if Celts can sustain this. They sure looked like a different team tonight. But then everyone gets up for the Warriors.

Sustain it we haven't -- we continue to be mercurial, an enigma wrapped in a paradox cloaked in a mystery -- we played well most of it last night, they were betr at the end -- Pacers will be a tough 1st rounder

west conf playoff field is set, plenty of fluctuation before it's all over as only three games separates the bottom 6 teams -- Jazz are on a 22-8 tear -- & all it's gotten them is a half-game out of last place!!!

my pick of LAL to play GSW in west finals sure didn't happen -- any one of those top 8 teams can make finals, hardly any clearcut favorite outside of Warriors -- Let's go Celts, our top-level is still to come

West always is the stronger conference, not sure why the East teams lag behind overall year after year.

Bucks hit a little skid recently with Giannis, but continue to stay atop the East. Bizarre loss to the Suns. Hopefully they can start another roll against the Heat tonight. They play Houston in a few days, should be a nice tuneup for the playoffs.

Bucks clinch the best record in the league. Pretty crazy how far they've come 5 years after a 15-win season to likely 60+ wins. Even the Big 3 in 2001 didn't look this good. I'll be surprised if we don't see Toronto-Milwaukee in Eastern Finals.

Also, who knew Milwaukee might have an MLB and an NBA MVP? Only competition is Harden who is having another monster season.

It should be a good series -- can't argue with your projected conf finals, both your guys & Tor have been solid all year --

Phila is very solid too -- As Are C's -- would like it a ton better w/Marcus in there vs. Mil -- he's been running on a treadmill etc, unlikely tho for this series

was trying to recall Bucks Big 3 of that era -- Sam Cassell? Genn "Big Dog" Robinson? Brandon Jennings? (pretty sure not him)

it's the 45th year of one of our best ever -- 7 games over Bucks in 1974, & if Kareem & the Big O were intro'd prior to game 1 -- they'd bring the house down, it'd become a mecca of love -- we'd have no chance

it wasn't a sky hook -- Kareem made a space hook to beat us at the buzzer 6th game in Boston -- it was from way out there
then back to Mil & unbelievable, 102-87 final, 1st title since Russell & Sam Jones retired
this series will be every bit the grind -- Giannis is some kind of player -- I Think We Can Win It, let's go Celts

Jennings was much later, it was Cassell, Robinson and Ray Allen. The next season George Karl tried to retool the team, brought in Anthony Mason to play "point forward" and they collapsed after the All-Star break and missed the playoffs.

Those early 1970s Bucks teams were pretty dominant, I think they had 3 60-win seasons during Kareem's tenure. Some scrappy 1980s Don Nelson-lead squads too, even swept the Celtics in '83.

Yep, they had it all going then -- Bob Lanier, Randy Bruer, Paul Mokeski, Marques Johnson, Junior Bridgeman, Alton Lister, Sidney Moncrief.........…they had one dagger game in that 1983 series when their first lead of the game came on the final basket

wondering if Marcus Smart will return depending on how far the series goes -- & yeah, Nellie -- who would he root for while burning one in the lap of luxury (saw that vid recently) --
really think we'll give Bucks a great series -- Let's Go Celts

started out that way
just couldn't sustain the defensive intensity of that 1st game -- we gave Giannis more room to operate after that & 4 games later.....
disagree w/the "Celtics disaster should've been clear from the start" headline on espn -- Mil made the adjustment after the 1st game & was the better team --
agree we should've had a better season -- agree w/some-not-all of the Kyrie criticism

they were awesome & a Mil-Denver final w/the 2 MVP tall-men, Giannis & Nikola, would be a Blast to watch -- Joel Embiid's impact on 6ers' fortunes Clear, they Vanished 2nd half of last game -- your team is great PCBob (still want a Kareem-Oscar appearance ), we'll be back better than ever -- showing up in the kelley green of the Boston Celtics

First off Ainge needs to FIRE Brad Stephens and soon. He is just not getting the job done.

It should be embarrassing to any Boston fan the way they gave up last night with 7:00 minutes left.........in the NBA a 20 point lead is NOT insurmountable with 7 minutes to play. The Celtics were going through the motions, waiting for their misery to be over. That is PITIFUL. At which point the Coach says, "Look, any of you assh*les who do not think we have a chance to pull out this game, you are right next to me here on the sidelines." And if finding someone with some heart means playing your 11th and 12th guys, THEN DO IT.

Fire Brad Stevens? You gotta be kidding me. The only thing Ainge should do is help Kyrie pack his bags. In my wildest dreams I could never have imagined a player of that supposed caliber playing 4 games that awful in a row. He was beyond dreadful. I have no use for him and pretty clearly most of his teammates don't either. Please let him go. No coach can overcome his #1 player performing like that It was a joke.

I agree that Kyrie was awful. That doesn't explain why the entire Celtics team gave up on the game last night with 7 minutes left. That's pitiful.

Maybe I am biased, but Stevens ,in my opinion is the farthest thing from they're problems. People should not forget what he did last year without Kyrie and Gordon. I feel for these coaches having to deal with these NBA p!ayers........must be painful at times.
