Don't Want You No More/Not My Cross to Bear has always struck me as a notable encapsulation of the ABB's then-current talents but also provides a glimpse into the future of the band. To me, it sounds as fresh today as it did then.

Led Zep's Good Times Bad Times is another "introduction song" that seems to be a concentration of the band members talents and still sounds vital.

Any other First Album, First Song, Side One favorites?

Both of those are perfect examples. A few others that busted out of the stall in full rodeo:

Take the Highway

I Aint the One

Suite Judy Blue Eyes

Black Sabbath's first album starts with the the sounds of rain, thunder, a bell tolling, and then the song "Black Sabbath" - chills!!!

"Break On Through" was the first song on the Doors first album, also a good way to start their career.

The list is endless -- my 2 favorites so far, Introduction, & Mississippi Queen
I would also add Funkadelic's Maggot Brain
Long Red, from Mountain's 1972 The Road Goes Ever On live album, comes to mind -- Corky's drums just POP outta the speakers when you put the needle in the groove.

Astral Weeks title track - Van Morrison (technically not his first album, but his first in a style he would pursue from thereon)
