I hope the Pacers win this series, but it will be tough. Looked good in game one and taking one on the road is definitely a plus . They should only have one day off, stretching this out till Wednesday is a bit much in my opinion.

just thought I'd segue here into the 2018-19 season -- Melo, holy heck -- great athlete, great player, a 6-9 scoring machine, likeable guy & can't find his place in the league

Melo's next stop ought 2 b NO -- mayb he could work w/AD to similar effect as DeM Cousins did -- or mayb Spurs, Aldridge could use scoring help

it's just amazing a player of his hi-profile caliber who's been a league leader etc mayb the game has passed Melo by, he was very good w/those Denver teams, I was on their bandwagon
well said, PCBob

Melo has had an odd career. He fit well in Denver for years, until George Karl left his usual dumpster fire. I get the allure of the Knicks and NYC (especially Melo being a Brooklyn-born guy), but no one will find success there until the ongoing disaster that is Jim Dolan is gone. Those were wasted basketball years. He's only 34, just a year older than Lebron, so hopefully he still has some great years left. Not surprised Houston didn't work out, between Harden and D'Antoni. He can still start, but maybe he's best as a role player. He'll find a home.

now it's the Big Three, in Phil-ee, not so fast tho -- it may not be as automatic as they think -- MN 2-0 so far w/Saric & Covington -- meantime what happens to Markelle's minutes -- a balance was upset by the arrival of a talented-but-tainted player, Jimmy, so school is out -- & yes they could pull away fast too

Crystal ball says LAL-GSW, & Celts-Bucks in conf finals -- the addition of Tyson Chandler I think will be big for Lakiz, altho Rondo now out w/hand injury -- Warriors are top dogs, What A Team (Green was a major no-show last night tho) -- they could morph from monsters to monstrous altogether as DeMarcus integrates into their scheme -- back the end of year Rob?

Long season, & that's where our depth will prove out -- Daniel Theis is just getting back, he & Aron Baynes are as key as Kyrie is -- fun season-long battle w/6iz & Tor, We Have An Awesome Team!

HUh? I must have watched a different player. One dimensional, offense only not much of a team player. His offensive skills has slid and not much to offer more than that so no value there. Overrated as a great player. When I think of significant players in basketball they have more to contribute than what he did. Not trying to down play his ability to score, but that's all he had he had to offer, and it takes more than that to lead teams to championships.

all he's done is average better than 20 ppg up until 2 years ago -- his forte is scoring, that shouldn't make him crummy -- a 10-time All Star -- just the whole mystery of why he's anathema (?) to winning

would like to see him finish out in Brooklyn, they have no front-line 'big star' or whatever, they're not doing so well, he's from there & would help w/attendance etc -- if they said Melo, welcome home, you're our guy -- in that scenario he could return to his 20+ ppg average, whether Bklyn wins or loses -- no one would expect them to do much, but that's not really what it's about now for Melo anyway -- it's all good

Kyrie was simply from another planet last night -- an epic game by every account -- Tor is the real sh!t this year, & on the sheet too -- 6iz won debut of Jimmy Butler -- fun hoops this year, Celts & Paciz tied

of course not every game is like that, but really hope coach stays w/Gordon off the bench (22 minutes, 11 pts, 5 reb, 4 assists) & stays w/starting Aron (23 min. 16 pts, 9 reb) -- was real good to see Semi get good minutes -- he & Robert Williams IMO are starter-caliber players

What about forgotten NY Knicks hero Jeremy Lin -- 19 pts, 10 assists, 5 reb, 3 steals
we're far from outta the woods -- however, the problem to be solved continues to be pleasant

Phila Big 3, also Redick, had 22-24 pts last night -- they still lost at home to an easy opponent, Cleve -- just like we puked that one up to NY at home -- we gotta catch Philly -- let's go Celts

Last year's "scapular imbalance" has become this year's thoracic outlet syndrome for Markelle Fultz -- the same malady that shut down Tyler Thornburg for 1 1/2 years

Markelle's injuries are/have been non basketball related, except for the fact that his agent shut him down when McConnell started getting more minutes, & when Butler arrived

He's had every exam known to mankind -- article said he's been to 10 specialists for exams in recent weeks, & that his diagnosis "was not something the 76ers medical staff was able to identify" -- this was also the case with last year's scapular imbalance, & further the case when we traded out of the top pick, and, article says "the Celtics never identified a shoulder issue when they evaluated him"

Markelle has discovered he's not yet ready for pro ball, it's caused an internal panic & instilled doubt in his head -- his agent is looking desperately for a medical reason for this, but it's pretty obvious that this is another bad-luck pick for Phila, a la previous "process" picks Michael Carter Williams and Nerlens Noel

it's gotta be tough, going from being a great college player, to being unable to lift your arms over your head to shoot a jumper (according to article) -- this IMO could be Gehrig-esque in its implications & hopefully his treatments go well

they're playing well -- process picks Embiid & Simmons have proved out & it'll be all we can do to keep pace w/them & Tor -- we'll be on their heels by the All Star break -- let's go Celts

still trying to 'process' last 2 games -- there's no digesting it, it only comes back up as Barf
( )
we have depth enough on this team to try any rotation.......it's time to give Daniel Theis a few starts & let Jayson T come off the bench -- Theis has paid his dues, he & Terry Rozier would give the club a different look/new blood, Jayson would get just as many minutes off the bench etc -- IMO Semi O, Robt. Williams, our 7 footer -- they need to be in every game, esp now -- too many DNPs

no panic at all, let's not forget we had a strong 2 week run b4 this
yes it's a back to back but not really
the game tonite is The Litmus Test on our season -- travel will be bad back to Boston for Wed. game, there'll be no rest at all --
This Is Phila, we need to play this like a 7th game, walk onto the floor w/a bad attitude/embarrased still by those coughups to LA, & show league that we're badasses too --
Kyrie & Aron back soon, let's go Celts

Nice to see Isaiah Thomas back playing. I hope he does well.

Kyrie Irving is the Celtics best player. Most people around here are hoping the Celt's can sign him long term. The guy is out injured a lot. To me, a little risky signing him to a max contract. He hasn't played in the last two games, but now is planning to play in the All Star game. That will be a bad look for me.
Anthony Davis hurt his shoulder last night. He'll probably want to play in all star game.
The players in this new age of the NBA are ruining this league.
I still love the Celtics though.

Yep, IT returns tonight & he should really come in for some love -- he's never been properly appreciated in Boston, & all he did was leave his entire career there -- Isaiah was the greatest ballplayer in the world in 2015-16

agreed about players & their agents running the league, AD is totally coasting now -- also Kahwi Leonard automatically going to LALakers next year after his insistence that Tor be just a stopover -- he might be regretting that nowadays

we blew a 25-point 2nd-half lead Sat at home against one of the worst teams in the league
it's a habit now & one that's pushed us out of the conversation as far as how deep in playoffs
but there's still time -- we gotta overtake Phila, that's still the biggest thing
Let's go Celts

tied they remain, w/a Friday game at the Indiana fieldhouse preceding what should be a tough 1st-rounder
guessing both teams will enjoy large home leads in splitting the 1st four playoff games, leading to the final 3 & who knows
but we need to take the game Friday as equal-in-importance to a 7th game -- it'll give us inside track on home court, plus show that we can win games on the hoosier hardwood

Let's go boys -- the decision to start Marcus S and bring Jaylen B off the bench this year has worked out fantastic -- our year overall so far can't be called stellar, but we're right there -- let's go Celts

The playoffs are a whole different season...........the intensity level goes up. DeMarcus Cousins is looking like his old self..............the incredible agility that is almost unseen in a 7 footer is back............and now the Warriors have Andrew Bogut backing him up. Oh.......yeah..........the other starters are not too bad either (most likely all four of them are Hall Of Famers). If anyone really thinks that there is ANY team that can beat The Warriors in a 7 game series............yes including Houston............I sure would like to know who it is.

Don't think I can argue with that. The championship will be the West Conf finals. I am not sure anyone from the East could hang with them for 7 games. Hopefully it will be competitive for viewing entertainment purposes. I think it will be the Bucks or Raptors. I don't see Phila,Bos, and the team I follow, the Pacers making it out of the East. Indiana struggled to a 9-14 record after all star break. Considering they only had Victor for 36 games playing hurt and finishing 13 above .500 is very nice.....but thats it.....nice.

IMO Mil & Tor have as good a shot as GSW or the west teams -- steady showings thruout the season
Yes Pacers probly showing effects of no Victor O as season winds down -- but they won't be easy, come next week they'll be rested & ready

but good to see DeMarcus fully recovered -- Gordon is also looking more & more like his pre-injury self & both Celts & Utah are live picks to go deep

but, if the SanFrisco Warriors are really hittin a collective stride as playoffs unfold, w/their experience etc they would be tough to beat --
they're departing Oakland for San Fran next season -- the Big Dipper himself, Wilt The Stilt Chamberlain, played for the SF Warriyz

Let's Go Celts

Don't you think they should just give The Clippers an automatic first round exit? This first round matchup vs. Warriors seems like cruel and unusual punishment to me.............

What's cruel and unusual is having 7 game series that last almost 2wks and if the finals goes the distance, your looking at 2mons of this. I think the NBA should modify or change this. It's way to long and like Rob said, some of these games are unneeded.

They would never do it, but the NCAA tournament is ,IMHO, might be one of the best sporting events ever. The basketball play is more enticing to me vs the pros .

Exactly. The pro game puts me to sleep; raise the rim to 10 6 and get rid of the 3.

NBA made a mistake when they extended the first round to 7 games. And when they were able to televise them all, they spread them out. The first round used to take week, it was all you needed. But hey, ad revenue.

Agreed porkchopbob, the first round should be 5 games only.

That being said, I'd much rather watch the pros than college. It's more interesting for me to watch the highest level of play, like the Golden State Warriors, or the Bulls when they had Jordan, or the Lakers with Kobe, Pop's Spurs under Duncan and Parker, the Heat with LeBron and Wade, Mavericks with Dirk in his prime. Those are 5-star well-oiled machines that were increcible to witness. I like college ball, and the Tournament is always amazing, but at the end of the day, the amateur level ball and the msitakes made by these inexperienced teenagers always prevented me from taking it as seriousely as i do the NBA.

The excitement of the NCAA tournament is the immediacy - that first weekend of games and the shocking upsets is the best part. But it's still amateur kids playing. NBA playoffs are still the highest quality basketball, even if the old grumps feel the need to constantly remind everyone that the NBA hasn't been the same since George Mikan and Bob Pettit retired.
