I heard tonight’s show was pretty stellar. I’ll check out the show on Tuesday via Nugs TV. Looking forward to it. |

I am going on Tuesday. Looking forward to it and will be my first “Dead” show since Jerry died. I do think they have put a strong band together with Oteil and Mayer adding a lot to the mix. ____________________ MKS |

Keys, bass, and lead covered very well by the very competent "youngsters" who along with Kreutzman,do very well while also covering up for Weir's deficiencies.
Hart is using the brushes, is barely heard and irrelevant until the overly long drum solo which often features the strange sounds coming from Hart's stored GD sound memory machine...for those of you familiar with his contraption
closing with werewolves of london,a gimmicky song that bores to tears, the second set lacked the consistency and great playing of the first set

I'm struggling with my decision to see them in DC. The show is next week. I just saw an incredible Phil and the Terrapin Family Band show at the end of October. Last week Oteil and Friends rocked the Fillmore. Both of those shows cost considerable less than Dead and Co.
I had a great time seeing Dead and Co. at Jiffy Lube last Summer. I got in for less than face value and had a great seat. If I can do the same at Capitol One Center I'll probably head on up. ____________________ Capitalism will always survive, because socialism will be there to save it.

I watched a live stream of half of a D & Co show this summer. It sounded very "New Age" Music to me....even Oteil...who has that side to him (high popping sounding 6 string). The keys did too. Wasn't my thing compared to Phil & Friends or Furthur, but that may have been just half of a show and not a good representation.
I'd see 'em for sure for the scene and because there are tremendous musicians (mostly) on stage playing a great catalogue. ____________________ Tim L. |

I'm with you, Dad! This is why I go. It's not Jerry, it's never going to be Jerry. It's not Phil, it's never going to be Phil. But it is some highly talented guys playing music that we love...and playing it damn well. These songs are fantastic. I'm happy there are folks still playing them. Mayer's completely bought into the whole thing...Oteil and Chimenti drank the koolaid long ago :-)
I've seen these guys 6 times now, and it's just some damn fun, a good time, with some good people. The Music Lives On, and that's what it's all about.
Looking forward to night 2 at MSG!

i went last night and had a great time. Mayer was excellent IMO and Oteill always bring it. Weir still has the voice and the band was very tight and playing off each other. I can do without the "acid" music they get into and the drum solo which seemed to go on and on.
That being said, great renditions of St Stephen Franklins Tower and Tennessee Jed were highlights for me.
The crowd was great the sound was excellent and everyone had a great time. |

Well said. I had a blast on Tuesday at MSG. Give St Stephen a listen for a sense of how good this band is. Very glad I went!

Dead and co. aren't bad but I just watch them via streamed webcasts as tickets are way too much money.
I like Oteil's playing and I like Bobby, and Mayer isn't bad but I just wish they played songs faster. ____________________ Language is a virus from outer space. |
