yes, all of you hard core hoopsters,it's early, but that time of year again.

i know-the games are meaningless to some, but if you love the NBA,it's been a GREAT summer with lots to look forward to...

so many storylines:

the OKC big three plus Adams?
Will Chris Paul make any difference to the inevitable outcome?
Jimmy,Wiggins & KAT & the Timberwolves?
The Knicks-Porzingis?
Lonzo?
The Cavs-Lebron MVP? Rose,Wade,Green,Crowder,Thomas?
Kyrie?
Celts?
GS will win it all?-(unless some disaster, injury,etc.)-everyone believes they'll repeat.

much more for sure....should be FUN

Bad looking ankle injury -- hopefully Hayward recovers fully -- let's go Celts

I agree with you. Just thought I'd mention though, not that I think it will make a HUGE difference, but the injury bug has already hit: Andre Igoudala will miss the opener tonight vs. Houston because of back spasms. Andre is a great player and first man off the bench but Warriors are SO incredibly deep........I just don't see it effecting them much...........could in the long term, though.

Feel bad for Gordon
This is a video of the Duke vs Butler championship game 2010. Its the last two mins and Bulter almost pulls it off. Heartbreaking shot off the rim
https://youtu.be/SB00wfyuQjY

Might be easier for the Cav's now.

GS losing on the night they receive they're championship rings. Kerr has some words for them after the game. Unless something weird happens , it is probably theirs to lose.

I am not sure I buy the whol big three thing in OKC. It's Russell's ball, Melo will want his touches and George will be the odd man at most of the times. Could be wrong though. George wanted to be the man here in Indiana but could not deliver on a full time basis.

sad Gordon got hurt.

great, competitive first night, albeit sloppy as expected early in season.

just a quick word to reaffirm my great respect for the outstanding coaching of Brad Stephens.IMO he's third best coach in NBA after Pops & Kerr.

Pops yeah, Kerr I am not sure I would put him there quite yet. Stephens is definitely one of the better(top) coaches in the league.

I flipped over just in time to see Lebron "drive" down the middle.
I counted three offensive fouls plus a possible travel at the end.
Switched back to hockey and baseball.

I say this loss could possibly be the best thing that could happen to the Warriors. They looked to me like they thought the game was over in the middle of the 4th quarter. As my buddy Don said, Draymond being on the sidelines was huge.............he would not have allowed that collapse. He may be right. His injury did not look serious but we'll know more today.

The Warriors looked to me like they may have been reading their own headlines a little too much. This should be a huge wake-up call: No matter how high scoring your team is, you are playing a good team that can score too and unless you dig in on the defensive end, you are going to get beat. And I'll bet they heard a LOT of that from Steve Kerr last night after the game.

Don't forget The Spurs gave them a HUGE wake-up call last year in the opener, also in Oakland, beat them by 29 points. You know what happened after that...........

That is sweet!!!!
Part of my life as a child I grew up in Wisconsin and hold a special place in my heart for the pro teams in that state. I bought an old school Bucks t shirt this summer.

Onslaught of Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo continues

Just how hot has Giannis Antetokounmpo been to start the 2017-18 season?

The Greek Freak's 32 points against the Hornets on Monday marked his worst outing yet.

It was still just enough to give him a remarkable if esoteric achievement: a franchise-record 147 points through four games, one more than Kareem Abdul-Jabbar recorded in 1969.

Combined with his usual all-around impact -- season-high 14 rebounds, six assists, one steal, two blocks -- and it was yet another masterpiece for the blossoming young superstar.

If it's too early to start talking about the Kia MVP award, let's just say that whenever that time does come, Antetokounmpo will be No. 1 with a bullet barring a drop-off that, so far, seems almost impossible.

Monday's outing was another edition of Antetokounmpo's special brand of jaw-dropping, long-limbed bully ball. In a league that continues to emphasize outside shooting, just four of his 21 shots came outside the restricted area, and only one outside the paint. Despite that one-dimensionality, the Hornets -- like the Celtics, Cavs and Blazers before them -- were powerless to stop him as he converted 13 shots and drew eight free throws.

If not quite as spectacularly as Saturday's win over Portland, which he sealed with a steal, slam and blocked shot in the final 12.1 seconds, Antetokounmpo saved his best for last against the Hornets.

He dominated the fourth, scoring 11 points with six rebounds and a pair of blocks. His lone assist in the period set up Khris Middleton for the biggest shot of the game, a 3-pointer that put the Bucks up five with 43 seconds left.

Antetokounmpo is now averaging 36.8 points, 10.8 rebounds and 5.3 assists, joining Russell Westbrook as the only players to reach those thresholds through four games.

That represents just five percent of the marathon that is an NBA season. While that's plenty of time for Antetokounmpo to cool off, it's also 78 more opportunities to blow our collective minds.

hard to tell as the nba now has "the gather step" which didn't exist before a few years ago so I am not sure exactly when the rules now state he has to stop moving his feet. I saw at least 4 steps though which is still more than allowed

gotta give the celts a lot of credit for how they are playing since the big injury...their young players are excellent and coach stephens,as always, is doing a brilliant job...

my knicks,on the other hand....ugh...never knew Kantor was such a good rebounder, improving on defense,& superb scorer...Kristaps played well for 2 games, horribly last night...the team is awful.

nets are early surprise..Great Coaching!

season off to fun start...

The Celt's are playing good. I love that Tatum and Brown are playing and playing well. I'd like to see Irving assert himself as bit more. There are going to be games that he will need to take over (a la IT last year.) The future looks good.
I think Philly will be another team on the rise too. It will be great to see the Boston / Philly rivalry get going again.

philly is tough-if they can stay on the court.

According to the "process" they only need to lose the next 60 or so games to draft the next slug that they can give a rediculous contract to.

Indeed -- Fultz' injury is worse than they thought (what a shock) - now he's out indefinitely
is there any team ever which has gotten more stiffed with their draft picks than Phila -- doesn't seem so

Go Pacers!!

Nice win at Cleveland last night and beating the Spurs on Sunday with a win against the Kings on Monday.

Its a long season , and this is a young team, so we shall see. It gives Indiana people something to cheer about since the football team is circling the drain.

Cleveland seems to be struggling now. Like I said ,its still early and Boston is off to a great start.

pleasantly surprised so far -- our 2 draft picks, Jaylen & Jayson, are playing beyond their rookie years -- rather than than trying to orchestrate everything as I thought he might, Kyrie has blended in -- Semi has been big off the bench -- great early stuff -- rivalry nite tmrw, Celts-Lakiz, Bruins-Rangiz

Gordon is in a walking boot & on schedule so far back to what is expcted to be a full recovery
Isaiah Thomas is on the floor shooting, nothing more recent
Isaiah's year last year -- coming on the heels of David Ortiz's unbelievable farewell campaign -- both were 2 seasons that come along rarely

AB (Detroit) & Kelly O (Miami) playing good -- we have forward M. Morris, if he comes up big that's big for us -- let's go Celts -- hoping Gordon & IT recover fully

Suddenly, Kristaps
Kristaps-Kanter combo could kickstart NYK -- it's still early

but Finally -- after 3-4 years -- heralded top draft picks are healthy (2 of them, Embiid/Simmons), & PHILA could climb outta cellah this yee-ah, based on early projections --
their other top-pick saviors from over the years, Nerlens Noel & Michael Carter-Williams, are in limbo elsewhere -- now it's their current guy, M.Fultz -- he's expected to make his debut this month sometime, They Think

Cleve's & OKC's Heralded Big 3's have yet to gel
MN's has
Theirs & NO's -- they have many guards, like Jameer Nelson, Jrue Holiday etc -- who would love to be part of that Big 3 keying NO Pels' run to top of wstrn conf --
but they have the best chance of doing that w/RAJON --

Headspace-wise , he & DeMarcus didn't have in Sac, the foil they have in NO in Anthony Davis -- now the 2 mercurial/controversial players have that -- the great Rajon Rondo also expected back this month

they're a team that could go off -- double-doubles, & one of RR's triple doubles -- that'd be a first -- heck they even have former longtime Celtic/Memphis TONY ALLEN, he & Rajon could cook up some of that magic from the Celtics days of Kendrick Perkins, Leon Powe, Glen Big Baby Davis, their then-big 3 etc....

I truly hope jaylen brown is playing well beyond that of a rookie since jaylen was on the team last year. the Celtics rookies are tatum, semi, jabari bird and kadeem allen. they also have 2 more players that this is their first year playing games with the Celtics but were not drafted this past summer

Jaylen drew rookie minutes last year during the learning curve, then w/Hayward's injury his role became much more important & he's stepped right up to it -- he's essentially a 1st-year guy in there playing really good, But It's Certainly Early --
thanks for the lowdown, hadn't known that -- welcome aboard, fellow Boston fan!!

Magic's 1st full year running the show w/the great Lonzo (yawn) in town etc -- let's go Celts
Phila beat Utah w/out Embiid last night -- Jazz as always impossible to figure
RR must look at NO's box score from last night & be going, Watta blast this is gonna be...
MN at GSW a good early-season one tonite, Jimmy Butler currently featured on ESPN
