I saw two of those three happening.

I knew we were not very good, but, come on Huskers... Was thinking we'd be anywhere from 7-5 to 5-7, but that didn't include yesterday's game. Both Reilly & Eichorst should be updating their resumes and checking the Help Wanted ads.

Also, Tanner Lee is horrible. That is all....

College football is so fun! Man do I love Saturday's in the fall!!!!

Nebraska was actually 1 of my 3 favorite bets yesterday and other than the pick-sixes it didn't go too unexpectedly. Northern Illinois used to have some really good teams, went to the Orange Bowl one year. But most the personnel on O they have now wouldn't be in the 2-deep on those former teams. Their QBs are one step up above career backups, they lack playmakers and gamebreakers they used to have on O. I thought it set up for a 42-10 type Nebraska win.

Nebraska marched right down the field on their first drive and their last drive of the first half, ended in pick-six and a deflected FG attempt. As bad as Nebraska's D has looked this season, the D was good yesterday, probably because of their opponent, but the D did what they were supposed to do vs an average MAC team and that was without some of best Corn D players on the field. NILL just doesn't threaten you at all any more. Now I undervalued their D, it is solid, Tanner Lee gift wrapped all of their highlights though.

Down 0-14, fortunately I took Neb -8 in the 2nd half to recoup some of the loss.

But yes, that is as ugly of a loss as Nebraska has had. It isn't like they lost to 2016 Western Michigan, or San Diego St, or some really good mid-major...they lost to a regressing MAC team who didn't even make a bowl last year. That was sad

UCLA lost to a pretty good Memphis team. They still should win that game if UCLA is who you think they should be, but Memphis is pretty good. Pitiful D, terrible OL play, no running game and a QB forced to do too much. Poor Bruins.

Loved watching that Texas D last night, man that game had edge of seat drama. That USC TD right before HT is inexcusable and SC's 2m drill to force OT was great, Darnold was under constant pressure and made some strong throws. Loved that game. Texas O and QB just a little too underdeveloped.

So many interesting and fun games yesterday.

Hey how about those Kentucky Wildcats? 3-0. Can they legitimately challenge in the East? 30 straight loses vs the Gators is up next in Lexington.

Went to the Michigan game yesterday. It is always fun to be in Ann Arbor on game day. The game was good though closer than it should have been. Michigan won't go anywhere in the Big Ten without better QB play.

Looking at getting Penn State-Michigan State tickets. Never been to Spartan Stadium.

Butch **** the bed in Gainesville. Next?

I thought they should have fired his sorry ass after losing to Vandy last year. If you're a Tennessee coach, you don't lose to Vandy.

Honestly, it's the first time that I can recall this, as they left the field at halftime, the home crowd booing the team. It wasn't just a few people, it was a lot, easily audible on the tv broadcast. Actually, they deserved it.

I predict Penn State will not finish in the top 10 at year's end

Looking back at overrated preseason top 10 teams:

The most overrated showing preseason rank and final regular season record (not including bowl win/loss).

1998 Arizona St #8 - 5-6

1999 Arizona #4 - 6-6

2000 Alabama #3 - 3-8

2001 Florida State #7 - 7-4

2002 Florida State #3 - 9-4 (also Tenn #5 - 8-4, Fl #6 - 8-4)

2003 Auburn #6 - 7-5

2004 Ohio St #9 - 7-4

2005 Tennessee #3 - 5-6 (also Michigan #4 - 7-4, Oklahoma #7 7-4)

2006 Notre Dame #2 - 10-2
* they're the most logical of all 06 teams in my mind as they faced 2 teams in the top 15 and lost both badly, when you factor in the Sugar Bowl vs #4 LSU it shows the unjustified #2 ranking in August.

2007 Michigan #5 - 8-4 (also #9 Louisville 6-6)

2008 Auburn #10 - 5-7 (lots of others in 2008: Georgia #1 9-3 3rd overall SEC, Missouri #6 9-4 5th overall Big 12, LSU#7 7-5 losing record in SEC, West Virginia #8 8-4 3rd Big East, Clemson #9 7-5 .500 ACC record)

2009 Ole Miss #8 - 8-4 (lost first game in week 3 and was handled by #20 Bama 22-3 two weeks later) (Oklahoma was preseason #3 and finished 7-5, but they also had starting QB lost for season in week 1)

2010 Texas #4 - 5-7(also Florida #3 7-5 and Iowa #10 7-5)

2011 Oklahoma #1 - 9-3 (lost to unranked T Tech, barely ranked Baylor and #3 OSU), also: Florida State #5 - 8-4 (lost 3 games in a row to OU, Clem, Wake and later to Virginia *starting QB injured during 3 game losing streak), Texas A&M #9 - 6-6 (what a mess they were).

2012 #1 USC 7-6 lost Sun Bowl to GT. #8 Michigan 8-5 lost Outback bowl to SC. #10 Arkansas 4-8

2013 #10 Florida 4-8. #5 Georgia garnered 1 first place vote finished 8-5 with an Outback bowl loss. #7 Texas A&M 8-4 before beating Duke in the Chick-fill-A bowl.

2014 #4 Oklahoma 8-4 before 6-40 bowl loss. #6 Auburn 8-4 before Outback bowl loss. #9 SC pulled over .500 with a Independence bowl win.

2015 #2 TCU 10-2 prior to Alamo Bowl win, not a bowl becoming to a preseason #2. #6 Auburn 6-6, pulled over .500 by beating Memphis in Birmingham bowl. #7 Oregon with loss to TCU in Alamo bowl. #8 USC 8-6 with a loss to Wisconsin in Holiday Bowl. #9 Georgia was 5-3 in October.

2016 #9 Notre Dame 4-8 disaster. #7 Stanford was 4-3 at one point, but did finish 10-3. #10 Tennessee 8-4 reg ssn (4-4 SEC). #6 LSU was 2-2 after Sept and 7-4 reg ssn

This post is kind of funny. You call out many teams from the past. This Penn State team, while you might not agree, is certainly a top 5 team. Overrated teams rooted in reality this year would include Notre Dame.

James Franklin has brought this program back to where it belongs. At the top. These players should be commended for their performance.

Regarding overrated teams related to preseason rankings...Notre Dame was not ranked top 25 preseason, so not sure how you could call them overrated when they weren't even rated.

James Franklin is kind of a dick, but he is a very good coach that is for sure.

I based my opinion on Penn State based off of what I saw last year, they were often a very good 2 qrt team, often not a very good 4 qrt team. They were outgained or even in yardage and first downs in a few of their wins indicating their lack of dominance over some of their foes. Now teams can certainly grow and improve year-over-year. They've looked great vs Akron and Georgia State this year, James Franklin ices the Ga St kicker to preserve a shut out with just a couple seconds left? Class move. Anyway, vs Pitt I thought Pitt withstood an initial wave and then PSU looked pretty human the remainder of the game. And as we know Pitt is a shell of their 2016 self.

We learn more very week, looking forward to this Saturday at Iowa. I would figure Penn State to win that game, but I do love the matchup. I'm not sure Iowa has enough O, I am looking forward to seeing the PSU O vs Iowa D. I'd rate advantage PSU but want to see it. Iowa front 7 is really good and their secondary is a little unknown.

Should be a good one Saturday night in Kinnick!

I'm checking under the mattress, couch cushions, everywhere I can muster the most financial resources for the Rutgers game on Saturday. If ever there is going to be a game where Nebraska should bring ill intent it's this game. All the heat that everyone is deservedly taking, if the team isn't fired up for this one, we're staring 3-9 squarely in the face.

Huskers a two touchdown fav, I'll be all over this one.

Heard they fired the AD...and they just gave Reilly and extension a few weeks ago. More buyout money to spend when they let him go. That's really what those extensions are about, not about the years under contract, it's adjusting the buyouts to leave and compensation should the coach get let go. Think Scott Frost is ready for the jump?

I hear ya, problem is Rutgers isn't quite as bad as they were last year. I rate them better than Northern Illinois. Just need some better pass protection and Tanner Lee to stop throwing ball to wrong team. Against Os like NIU and Rutgers the D should be able to shut them down.

Rutgers has a true freshman QB they started using. Jerry Kill (Rut OC) doesn't like using 2 QBs, but he said they are going to do it with this kid. Lewis is his name. Zone read run type, not sure what his arm is like, but Bolin will be the main trigger man.

Any news on Bryant or Kalu playing this week?

Stunk it up last Saturday against Purdue, in Columbia.

This Saturday, Mizzou hosts Auburn.

Adios Shawn Eichorst, don't let the door hit ya....

As I mentioned, hope Reilly has an updated resume too.

Heard Bryant was still limping badly as he watched practice this week. Unlikely he'll play. Not sure about Kalu.

Steve Pedersen pulled the same crap with Bill Callahan, extended him just before yet another horrendous season so the golden parachute was a little fluffier. I trace Nebraska's decline directly back to those two morons. The program hasn't made good decisions since they were brought in.

At this point, Nebraska needs to step up with some big money and get a coach who can bring in the level of talented players that the other powers have been doing.

Les Miles anyone?

So funny listening to the Fox broadcast last week, Les Miles was horrible! Brando making excuses for him. Openly rooting for Huskers and not really adding much at all of substance to the broadcast. I'm sure Les would jump at the chance to get back in the game. But Nebraska has it's challenges in today's cfb landscape. It's been hard for them to attract the top flight coaches. I think Nebraska fans have a hard time thinking that they are just as good as Iowa or Minnesota these days and that is probably their ceiling, but I think that is reality. Times have changed and they haven't change in a positive way for Nebraska that's for sure. It is unfortunate some of the poor decisions related to staff however, it surely didn't have to be this bad for this long though.

Andy, I thought you were a West Point man. Rutgers should have some signs of life this year. The week 1 showing vs Washington was encouraging, bu the loss to a solid EMich team wasn't what they needed.

Strange that Game Day goes to Time Square, but no area teams are home at all. Not like they care, I guess they just want to go to Time Square. I don't pay much attention to that show any more though. if you are going down to the set maybe I'll watch. You still have any Gator gear to wear?

A few other good games this weekend.

TCU/Oklahoma State. I know the Cowboys are good and they are at home but 14 seems like a lot. I'll take The Horned Frogs.

I think the Florida/Kentucky match up could be interesting. Florida only lost the Michigan game and they are only giving three.

Michigan State/Notre Dame is always fun. I hate Notre Dame so I am picking the Spartans.

I was going to go to the Michigan @ Purdue game but my wife doesn't want to go and I don't want to have to go with my father in law (they live right across from the stadium).

Penn State IOWA was one for the ages. Amazing game!!! Penn State RB is incredible. Iowa D were beasts. Amazing ending.

I don' know what happened to the Ducks but I am thinking injuries are catching up on a not to deep lineup. Going 1 for 9 on third down never helps.

DUCKS!!!

Good you get the PAC 12 Network up there! Probably hurts not having leading receiver Charles Nelson out with injury from week 3 and last year's #1 receiver Carrington is now playing for Utah. Ducks battled back after trailing the entire game to take the lead late 4th, but couldn't hold on. I fell asleep in the 3rd qrt I think. I have a way to watch PAC 12 Network finally!!
