Clearer heads prevail the man owes us nothing he has had an amazing career and his music catalog speaks for itself.I commend him for continuing to do what he loves and thats playing and putting out new music. To call his shows a cash grab is a joke. If you follow his setlists over the last decade they were pretty predictable when your a longtime fan as I am it's an honor to be able to still see him live.I could go on and on how much his music means to me and the person he has become since he got Sober but I will leave it at that. Thanks Alan keep up the good work.

A fair and balanced review, Alan.

Appreciation seems harder to come by these days, so when it comes to our aging heroes, it's nice to see it get passed around.

It's great to see that so many of us have the same thoughts as professional writers.

He doesn't need to reinvent himself, he doesn't have anything more that he has to prove to anyone, he's lived it, he's played it. Sometime when someone is as iconic as Eric is people expect him to constantly outdo his previous performances, but that's not what it is about. It's about letting out the music that is in him. People grumbled about Gregg missing words during some of the Beacon shows. Nobody is perfect, not even legends and icons. Eric was never known to be a great singer, so no one should expect that from him. His singing is humble and perfunctory.

There was a time for the song Cocaine, these days I don't think he should promote it to younger musicians, it rips holes in your aorta. The song promotes it.

I think he should be appreciated for his musicianship and for his evoluation and triumph over tragedy. How many other musicians could still go on after their child falls out a hotel window and dies? The newspapers here had a picture of him after it happened, and his face conveyed the depth of the pain he suffered. He has conquered the deaths of people close to him (like Duane), the angst of loving Patti Harrison when he could not have her because she was George Harrison's wife (and inspired the song Layla), etc. He triumphed over everything, he loved again, he built a good life and still shares his music with us. I think we should say thank you, be humble and applaud.
