In a normal Presidential administration I might think there would be purposeful barriers so that the President could have legal and truthful ability denial such wrong doing, but I suspect here they may not have known at the time there was anything wrong for a figure like Flynn to talk about such a thing. In this case it is hard to imagine Trump was not aware what the conversations were about at the very least. Whether he directed Flynn to engage in such talk is hard to say, certainly possible, but Flynn had his own relations with Russia from before. So it is possible that Flynn acted on his own outside the knowledge of Trump, but obviously it is very possible Trump either directed it or had knowledge of it. If we get transcripts of the conversation that will tell us more, if (or when) the a Senate security committee calls a hearing and subpoenas him would be interesting.

But don't you think Flynn should have known better & known what's acceptable / not acceptable? He's been an insider for years (at least in the military) & should be aware of protocol and laws. Either he was going rogue or playing mailman for Trump.

Flynn's had problems before, and he seems like a wildcard.

Hope we get the facts on this one. This whole Trump / Russia thing is disturbing. Me thinks there's a lot more below the surface.

should Flynn's passport be revoked to keep him from fleeing to Russia before the investigations start?

Just a small reminder of who you are talking about, but what do I know, this is all from Wikipedia so it probably is fake :

Michael Flynn graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a Bachelor of Science degree in management science in 1981 and was a Distinguished Military Graduate of the Reserve Officers' Training Corps. He also earned a Master of Business Administration in Telecommunications from Golden Gate University, a Master of Military Art and Science from the United States Army Command and General Staff College, and a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College.

Flynn is a graduate of the Military Intelligence Officer Basic Course, Military Intelligence Officer Advanced Course, Army Command and General Staff College, the School of Advanced Military Studies, and Naval War College.

Flynn was commissioned in the U.S. Army as a second lieutenant in military intelligence, in 1981.

His military assignments included multiple tours at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, with the 82nd Airborne Division, XVIII Airborne Corps, and Joint Special Operations Command, where he deployed for the invasion of Grenada in Grenada and Operation Uphold Democracy in Haiti. He also served with the 25th Infantry Division at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, and at the Joint Readiness Training Center at Fort Polk, Louisiana, and the Army Intelligence Center at Fort Huachuca, Arizona.

Flynn served as the assistant chief of staff, G2, XVIII Airborne Corps at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, from June 2001 and the director of intelligence, Joint Task Force 180 in Afghanistan until July 2002. He commanded the 111th Military Intelligence Brigade from June 2002 to June 2004. He was the director of intelligence for Joint Special Operations Command from July 2004 to June 2007, with service in Afghanistan (Operation Enduring Freedom) and Iraq (Operation Iraqi Freedom). He served as the director of intelligence, United States Central Command from June 2007 to July 2008, as the director of intelligence, Joint Staff from July 2008 to June 2009, then the director of intelligence, International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan from June 2009 to October 2010.

In September 2011, Flynn was promoted to Lieutenant General and assigned to the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. On April 17, 2012, President Barack Obama nominated Flynn to be the 18th director of the Defense Intelligence Agency. Flynn took command of the DIA in July 2012. In October 2012, Flynn announced plans to release his paper "VISION2020: Accelerating Change Through Integration", a broad look at how the Defense Intelligence Agency must transform to meet the national security challenges for the 21st Century.

Here's some info on Flynn's controversies - some eye opening.

Eye opening? Matter of interpretation I suppose.

None come close to being either labeled already a traitor or potentially becoming one as suggested above.

Yes....his resume is conspicuously missing the obligatory Degree of Espionage from the University of Traitors (their mascot is Benedict Arnold). You generally see it all the time when one betrays ones country.

How about helping push the pedophile ring in the basement of a pizza parlor that doesn't have a basement story? Is that a negative?

Someone insinuated someone on the Red Team may have done something wrong. Can't suggest that. Ever.

A paste from the WP article linked above on this:

Flynn was paid to speak at an anniversary dinner for RT, a state-sponsored television network in Russia. A photo surfaced of him sitting next to Russian President Vladimir Putin. In an interview with The Post, Flynn said he didnít see any distinction between RT and U.S. news outlets such as CNN or MSNBC, and called the controversy ďboring.Ē

PRIEST: One more thing about Russia Ö

FLYNN: A lot of people are making this about Russia. Read my book. Youíll see what I say about Russia.

PRIEST: Let me ask about sitting next to Putin Ö because thatís the symbol.

FLYNN: Yeah, I know, boring.

PRIEST: But did you think about what the optics would be Ö

FLYNN: Sure. I didnít have any problem. What Iím looking for is to make sure, in my view, I see a country that has lost respect for another country and if I have any sort of fiber in my body where I can help out to make sure they understand that we have people in our country who arenít going to apologize for who we are.

Weíre not going to act in a soft way for what we believe needs to be done. I was very adamant about what I said. He knows exactly what I said.

PRIEST: Did you talk to him personally?

FLYNN: No, just introduction. Thatís it.

PRIEST: The seating arrangements? You didnít ask to sit by him?

FLYNN: Nope. I was one of the guests there. Ö Some interesting characters. I found it a great learning opportunity. One of the things I learned was that Putin has no respect for the United States leadership. Not for the United States, but the leadership.

Why is it some people seem top fear even speaking to Russia or Putin ?

If it's not fear than what is it ?

Would you not agree having an open dialogue, leading to a working relationship - is a good thing ?

If that pizza parlor has no basement, then yes, that is despicable to insinuate there is one, I agree.

I was commenting on the above poster who linked the WP story about "eye opening controversies" the basement controversy was not mentioned in that story.

Apparently so. Russia is the bestest place ever.

Look that whole conspiracy up. If you're good with all that, I don't know what else to say.

What about her? I think it's pretty odd that she's sitting there as well. Aside form that, I think she's a moron of the first order.

You're right. Flynn is the best man ever, totally got hosed by having to resign.

o put that into perspective, up until he tried to give West Point to the British, Benedict Arnold was one of Washington's most trusted generals.

I am not equating Flynn to Arnold, but it shows how past record is not always a good predictor for the future.

The left's biggest mistake right now is believing Republicans and Trump supporters will actually care about this. Trump was right - he can murder someone and their support for him wouldn't waiver one iota. They don't care if he's in cahoots with Russia. They don't care. There's no sense in pointing out all the negatives because the worse it gets, the more the right loves and defends him. One must ask why. The only logical answer is that his supporters enjoy angering liberals more than anything else. Their support is nothing more than symbolically punching the left in the face, which is their #1 priority - not what is good for America. Sad.
