https://sports.yahoo.com/news/charles-oakley-arrested-at-msg-after-reported ly-going-after-knicks-owner-james-dolan-015312739.html

First Phil Jackson vs. Carmelo Anthony, now Charles Oakley is arrested at a game. Can a professional sports franchise get any more dysfunctional than this?

I personally think that Jackson sees a need to clean house and start over and he's trying to get Carmelo to void his no-trade clause.

As far as Oakley, one observer said that he saw Oakley do nothing to precipitate the confrontation. Another says that James Dolan thought Oakley was sitting too close and sent security over to his seat. Why? Hey, I wasn't there...........it's all speculation.

Just watching ESPN with Steven A. Smith and another commentator (don't know who) debating Oakley's ejection.

For the younger crowd who may not know who Charles Oakley is: In the late 80's and the 90's he was the baddest power forward in the NBA............known as "The Enforcer".

While he didn't agree with Oakley pushing security personnel, Steven A. Smith did have this to say: "If you messed with Patrick Ewing, you had Charles Oakley to deal with. He was the Enforcer, and that was true both on and off the court".

And later from Smith, who knows Oakley personally, "Charles never went around looking for confrontations. But if you were looking for him, he's going to be readily available for one. Just the kind of guy he is."

Very disappointing times for this long time Knicks fan. A lot of people have been openly critical of Melo, but he's the only one that's acting like a professional right now. Jackson is Tweeting about one of his players? C'mon, he should be better that.

Jordan never forgave the Bulls for trading Oak away and he took it out on Bill Cartwright for years. It's been sad to see such a great franchise in the NBA's premiere arena stuck in the doldrums for so long. But this is what happens when a rich petulant child is in charge (was that too subtle?)

Long, long time Knicks fan (remember Richie Guerin?). Now stuck with an incompetent owner, an over-rated and ineffective club president, and a 7'2" unicorn who has almost no inside game and average rebounding skills. Melo looks like a prince in the midst of this dysfunctional mess. Unlike most years though, at least they didn't trade away their #1 draft pick for some over the hill veteran.

The piece of paper looked alright for NYK, too -- Porzingis & Melo up front, Noah in post, Rose in backcourt, a solid backup in O'Quinn -- it made me nervous but alas -- some worms in the big apple>basketball -- Melo is great, only he weighs teams down (look at DeMarcus, they beat us last night w/out him) -- & there's Hornacek, dysfunctionalizing -- he & Phil might be outta town soon -- just hope they're safe in all the snow that's falling there right now

Gimme a team w/Melo DeMarcus & Rajon & I'll coachem to to hoop glory -- 3 against 5

can't say they're not uber-talented players tho -- head cases? nah....
their individual talents surpass the mere "team" concept of basketball -- they're "mercurial"
back to thread, yes, NYK struggling

Our play has fallen off of late tho -- we've given up 100-plus points in nine of our last 10 games -- Cavs turned highly anticipated Wed game into a clinic, On Our Floor .... Al Horford was a No-Show Thurs in Atlanta & C's can't afford to have any more of those -- he's played really well this year

maybe it's just the current culture of resting players, or merely going through the motions at the end of a long season -- but w/conf. title at stake & much to play for, the dropoff in play is concerning -- We'll Be OK

Happy Birthday, Jarrin' John Havlicek -- Let's Go Celts

It had to happen ("Jackson, Knicks Part Ways") -- the best-laid plans, in this case bringing the Chicago approach to NY w/Rose & Noah...

didn't fly, but this really makes it Melo's team now along w/Hornacek -- let's see how/if Knickerbockers rebound next season -- they actively shopped Porzingis but no takers

I think it's probably more accurate to say that Jackson shopped Porzingis. I'm not convinced that would have ever even happened. Regardless, we still have him and Jackson is hopefully leaving our beautiful city. He was an unmitigated disaster.

I'm going to make a way out statement. My guess is Jackson wanted Carmelo gone at any cost. Dolan refused do Phil bad mouthed Carmelo as a final f u to Dolan who is the real cancer

Jackson is gone and the Knicks would be better off without Carmelo. The more interesting thing that happened was the Chris Paul trade to Houston.

When he took us to a national title at Syracuse, Melo had players around him that contributed.

Not so in NY.

Jackson was an ass playing the drama queen bit in public.

He deserves to be unemployed.

Looks like its becoming less rumor/more real -- Melo could join LeBron in Cleve
time is running out like a NY minute on Melo's title aspirations -- "the Cavs or Rockets can have me" the charismatic forward has said

Houston would be better fit -- Harden Paul & Anthony -- it sounds real official

If Melo a lesser role in one of those cities his sixth man scoring of the bench will help. He won't do so in NYC; as I Knicks fan I can't wait to see him go. Just a lousy fit on a rebuilding team looking for speed/ball movement.

Earl Monroe made that transition; Oscar Robertson made that transition; Bill Walton made that transition

I don't know what Melo is waiting for -- Rajon, at DeMarcus Cousins' urging, has signed with NO for Part II & 2/3rds once again of the all-mercurial headcase team -- now it only needs Melo -- am surprised he doesn't put them on his list -- RR feeding him, DeMarcus and Anthony Davis?? Good night

Rajon found DeMarcus for over 200 assists in Sac -- the most to any one player according to the internet
it will be an embarrassment if Melo walks on the floor this season in a NYK uniform -- Houston & Cavs, the 2 teams he had on his list, apparently aren't interested
